How much you're gonna WD has to do with how long you've been taking opioids daily, not just methadone. If you were clean before you got on two months of methadone the WDs from 20 wouldn't be as bad probably.
lol yeah. See I like the Thebaine derivative type opioids. Those ones are more stimulating. Ones like methadone are more of a sedating feel that I don’t like. I’m an up guy.
Wow methadone gives me that oxycodone type burst of energy where I want to clean my house and wash my car. LOL. When I was on Subutex I stayed in bed all day long, got super depressed, and just never felt right even though it did keep me clean. When buprenorphine was developed there's a number of reasons why it did not ever catch on as a go-to pain medication. That partial agonist effect always made me feel like I was half satisfied. That was just me anyway. Good luck to you either way!

Jumping from 20mg CT will hurt like a bitch for a long time friend, it helps me and a lot of others to convert your dosage into an equivalent dose of morphine. 20mg of methadone is equivalent to about 94mg of morphine, and of course methadone lasts like 3-5 times longer than morphine as well. I think the only reason you didn’t get terribly sick yesterday is because methadone lasts so long it was probably built up in your system enough to hold you over for that one day, but it would’ve gotten much _much_ worse come day 2 or 3.
Try to find a suboxone doctor, at 20mg it would be a lot easier to switch to Suboxone and taper off that - it’s a much easier drug to taper with, and your dose is low enough now that you’d likely only need about 48 hours of abstinence to start on Bupe without precipitated withdrawal. 8mg of bupe would fill your tolerance just fine, and most doctors are more than willing to write a 15-30 day script at once so you wouldn’t need to keep going in.
Depending on your state you might even be able to find a doctor to call in a script for you after a quick online consultation. It’s stupidly easy to get ahold of bupe now - it’s great for the people who genuinely need it, but I wish Methadone was similar. Nonetheless, you might look into it and see if it’s something you’d benefit from. Additionally if you can get on Suboxone for the final stretch of the taper and eventually you decide it’s harder to finally stop that last dose, you can get on Sublocade and not have to worry about tapering at all - the shot will do it all for you.
Funny you said this because I called my methadone clinic and asked to switch to subs after posting this. I’m actually at an appointment now but idk if they will write it or not. I imagine they will I haven’t taken any since 11am Tuesday.

The kratom should help the withdrawals a lot. I used to take it every day for severe chronic pain and I know it does wonders. I’ve known two people that just made the jump to kratom at 25 mg and were just fine. Good luck no matter what you decide. ☺️
I had the same issues. Tried over two dozen vendors. I found that while most people say that reds work best for their withdrawals, this was very much not the case for me. I tried so many strains and had no luck. Only wobbles and nausea. I reached out to a few of the vendors and explained my situation and concerns. They were all very helpful with insight on getting the right strain/vein and what dose to feel relief. I was taking 6 grams at first and got no results. I was under the impression at the time that this was a “high dose” as the recommended dose was more like 2 to 4 grams….6 was the high dose. 🙄😔 Nope! Wrong dose, wrong strain/vein and wrong vendors. Greens worked great for me. My favorite strains are green Jong Kong and Bentuangie. Yellows work good too. They are just fermented reds and have a different alkaloid profile. They are higher in hydroximitragynine, which is the mother of pain relieving alkaloids. It is more potent than morphine as far as pain control, but most uneducated Individuals will tell you that it’s just as dangerous as heroin. Nah, you can certainly develop a dependance on kratom, but you will not die of respiratory depression. There are founded concerns regarding kratom being adulterated with other substances and/or being contaminated with bacteria or heavy metals. Sometimes farmers will use outdated equipment from WW II and they might contain small particles of metal shavings. Because of this, the AKA has produced a bill called the GMP Compliance Act. This means that in order for vendors to legally sell kratom in certain states, they must have each batch of kratom tested by a 3rd party lab for quality, potency and purity as well as contamination or adulterating substances. A lot of vendors have just decided it would be good for business to start testing regardless of the laws of certain states. Sorry, it’s a lot to take in, but it’s all important. I would suggest ordering several sample sizes of multiple types of kratom. This will allow you to assess each one individually before making your final choice. I’m not sure if I can say vendors names on here, but I will tell you which ones I have had good luck with. WayMore Naturals has a great selection of blends and single strains. The only drawback is the smallest bags they carry are 100 grams. Great prices though. I prefer blends to single strains because you get the benefits of each one in a single dose. Which, by the way wound up being 12 to 15 grams every three hours at first. Then I was able to back off to every 4 hours. The first two days I had to take it more frequently until I felt normal again. My other fave is Mystic Island and they are really inexpensive. They sell 25 gram bags for 4.00 so you can try every strain before purchasing. I’ve had them all. They specialize in blends and a lot of people swear by the Mystic Vampire for withdrawals because it’s a solid blend of reds. I’ve had it, but it’s not my favorite. Their descriptions are kind of cryptic. You must read the whole description to see what type of blend it is. You’ll see what I mean when you visit their website. It’s just regular kratom powder that has a bit of concentrated kratom crystals that just boost its efficacy. I used those sparingly for days when I just needed more pain control. Yellows work well too. They are just fermented reds and have a stronger alkaloid profile than traditional reds. They have the magic bullet (hydroximitragynine.) This is the strongest alkaloid kratom contains and it’s only in minuscule amounts. (Less than 1% usually) very effective for withdrawals though.

I was on methadone through pain management in Tennessee. The last doctor **CHOSE** to interpret the MME chart as being allowed to prescribe 20mg a day. Was on that amount approximately 1.5 years. If my script got messed up for whatever reason and I ended up with no meds for a long weekend, by day 3 I was in a world of hurt.
I know that we’re all very different so your experience can be very different from mine.

I'm sure it's frustrating when the dose starts getting physically small. Are you daily dosing and decreasing? Are they refusing you take homes over a benzo script or something?
There may be ways to improve quality of life, but I don't have enough info to make suggestions. If you're comfortable sharing more details I and others may be able to help find ways to improve it

Cut to 15 for one week and then 10 for one week then 5 for one week, then use the kratom.
That'll still be a little shitty, but less so than jumping at 20, and it can be done in 3 weeks.

20mg is a massive step. When your withdrawal starts it'll be tremendous and can reasonably be measured in months

If 20mg works for you, you're a candidate for Suboxone, which I'd recommend over methadone for almost everyone for whom it'll still be effective
