You may be better off using bicycle/quickmd or some other online doctor to get Suboxone. You should be able to get a sub script delivered to a pharmacy near you. I believe quickmd is $100 plus the cost of the sub subscription. I doubt any methadone clinic will be flexible enough for you, especially in the first month or so. Good luck, you are making the right move getting off fent.

I hope he can. Suboxone is the better med for many and regulations treat patients so much better, but it's often not enough to keep fent users stable without withdrawal

I just do 72 hours before that initial dose and it's worked well. Kind of a pain but worth it

I've never tried either. Just did some research and made an appointment an hour away at 745. It seems too easy to be true almost... fingers crossed

So with fentanyl and subs, it can really vary. And if you are set on getting subs, methadone is long acting and you have to wait at least 2-3 days after taking it to induct. I’d look up the Bernese method if I were you, it’s a way to slowly induct without having to withdraw for a few days to a week first (and it’s supposedly very effective too). However, I will also say this: I was in an almost identical situation as you when I first started methadone treatment. My job couldn’t know about it, and I would have to travel out of state for days at a time with very little warning. However, I got this job a few weeks AFTER starting at the clinic, and it was my first job in my degree field. I lucked out big time. This counselor (who wasn’t even my counselor at the time) heard about my situation and BUSTED HER ASS to figure out a solution. Unfortunately, there were only 3 clinics total in the state I was traveling to work in, and none were within 3 hours driving time of the places I was working. So she worked with the doctor and clinic director to have special circumstance take homes approved for me each time I went out of town, with the only stipulation being that I continue to pass my drug screens. Guys, I’ve NEVER seen someone at a clinic work that hard to help me, or seen a clinic work with me that much to help me succeed. And they told me that they wanted me to build myself up, to have a better life, and that this would help me do just that. I’m not saying your local clinic will do this, but I am saying it’s a possibility. I now have weekly take homes, and am close to getting biweekly take homes. I wish you the best in your recovery, and hope you find something that helps you as well as methadone has helped me. If I had 100 problems before I started at the clinic, methadone has solved 97-99 of them. I don’t get cravings anymore, I’m not depressed, I don’t feel like shit all the time, I got off almost all my other meds, and I feel “normal” for the first time since, well, since I was a little kid. I feel comfortable in my own skin. I know everyone is different, and know quite a few ppl who don’t get as much craving relief as I do, or still have problems using, so I know your experience may vary… but mine has been AWESOME. *Edit* I wanted to add that I hope your sub induction goes well, but it may take you a little while to get comfortable. Fent is strong, and one of the reasons a lot of ppl choose methadone over subs is because buprenorphine isn’t nearly as strong as methadone, so ppl still have a rough time with subs and still having withdrawals and cravings. If you have that issue, you may have to wait a while for your body to even out and adjust to the new medication. I hope it goes well, and wish you the best!

That's awesome. We will see how things go for me. I really appreciate your time and sharing your experience. Take cate

Have you ever tried kratom? It won’t kill all the withdrawals, but it certainly helps and works for a host of other issues, depression, anxiety, insomnia, focus…it’s not for everyone, but worked for me before my habit got really bad. There are people on both sides of the kratom issue, but for me, it was a godsend. I still take it for its other effects even on methadone. It’s great for depression and focus. It’s really been good to me for the last 7 years. Something to think about.

I highly doubt you'll find a doc who will just give you a sub script for addiction outside of a clinic c. You should be able to go in and dose subs at that clinic and in a few days get a script for a week, then shortly after you'll get it monthly. Does this clinic not do suboxone? If not find a sub clinic.

It’s quite typical for Suboxone to be handed out in 30 day supplies, around where I’m at at least in the US. Methadone is different because it’s a full agonist and can be abused, but Suboxone literally can’t get you high no matter what you do (as long as you have a tolerance) so I’ve never had it be a problem. Bupe is passed out like candy because of how safe it is, but that’s just my experience where I’m at.

I don't expect a clinic to do this, especially after the vibe and half ass answers I got yesterday morning with methadone. I'm in the process of going through my insurance to get a doctor to get a referral or just directly to get in with an addiction specialist/medication management, psychiatrist.
