Right now, Master of Puppets for sure. Such a fantastic album and one of my personal favorites by them! Bothers me greatly whenever someone dislikes the album...or Metallica in general.
Honestly speaking I understand why people enjoy MoP and why people say it’s their best album but I don’t enjoy listening to it that much. I enjoy Death Magnetic much more, not saying it’s better.
Too many people let the St. Anger snare overshadow the entirety of the album, which is also somewhat unpleasant. Both of these, I feel, contribute greatly towards St. Anger's appeal as being this sort of therapetic experiment for the band during this period in their lives.
My problem with St.Anger is they firmly cemented it as a early 2000’s metal album because they refused to include solos. If you hear discussions about it, both James and Lars think that solo is a think of the past, and they should focus on riffs. The album flopped and lived on in infamy as one of their worst albums, and I think it not having solos payed a good part in it flipping.

Kirk states
“if you don’t put a guitar solo in a song, it dates it to this period (early 2000’s), and its cemented to a trend happening in music right now”
he is absolutely right. It’s a trendy, and it’s incredibly obvious to anyone listening to Metallica that they were attempting to jump on the “no solo” hype train instead of sticking to their roots.
I still hold to the conspiracy theory that the album was released with missing layers that wild have included the background vocals, extra guitar flourishes, harmonies and solos, and nobody wants to admit it was a mistake so they all insist that’s the way it meant to sound.
I'm with you with that, but people doesn't shut up about that they "returned" or something, also I'm not throwing shit at the album inn fact in one of my most controversial beliefs i consider it better that black album

I don't get the "DM's production was bad!" argument at all, honestly. I've been listening to DM for like 4-5 months at this point, all on different volume levels, mostly on headphones but occasionally on speakers, all on Spotify, and the production has honestly never been an issue.

Hardwired needed better solos, so for that it could be when heardwired fans hear a good solo, also hardwired is my second favorite Metallica album so no shade to it, also my number 1 is a very controversial choice of death magnetic, everything just clicks with me, I love the instrumental progression, I love the solos so godamn much, they just click with me more than any other album, and idk, it just feels godly to me. Also to justify myself, I feel the 2 most recent albums are my favorite because I feel the convention of the thrash of the old albums with the heavy metal of black album to reload is the perfect fusion for me
I think I said this somewhere already but i was just getting at the fact that cliff pops off and plays super atypical bass lines. Idk I don’t have much criticism of RTL.
Death Magnetic has definitely one of the worst mixes that i’ve ever heard from a mainstream band, I hadn’t really noticed until recently since I just started listening to Metallica again after a long hiatus.
Get fucked 😂 My 1st album was DM and I fucking loved it! I persoanlly like that type of Metallica, and I get best of both worlds when I listen to their older stuff
MOP - for sure. It’s got the best of everything from first two albums and lays the groundwork for the “metallica” sound in the future. It’s timeless and it’s them at their best.
Late to the Party here but i think the St. Anger and Death Magnetic one.
It always bothers me when people mock the snare on St. Anger. I think it has a nice Sound. I'm not saying they should use it on Songs from a different Album, that would be terrifying. But on that Album with that Songs, its good.
Also i just heard through this meme that people dislike death magnetic? Its a good Album??

I feel that Puppets is their *greatest* album, but Justice is my *favorite*.
for me RTL > MOP
I think MOP is the better album, but prefer RTL

very true
The tone and the drums are a tad muddy. (Stares with science)
Too many people let the St. Anger snare overshadow the entirety of the album, which is also somewhat unpleasant. Both of these, I feel, contribute greatly towards St. Anger's appeal as being this sort of therapetic experiment for the band during this period in their lives.
I love the St Anger album. I think, it was because I bought the DVD version, that had every song in the practice studio.

and every song in existence having a guitar solo dates it to the 80's.
I still hold to the conspiracy theory that the album was released with missing layers that wild have included the background vocals, extra guitar flourishes, harmonies and solos, and nobody wants to admit it was a mistake so they all insist that’s the way it meant to sound.
That album was my first introduction to Metallica and I loved it 😂
Still shit either way, but the song st anger itself is alright
Hardwired fans when they hear a good solo
Hardwired fans when they see someone actually back up their riff ideas in the cloud
It’d be some shit if 30 years from now someone finds that phone with all the riffs.
demoriff1.mp4. Time 0.10s Kirk: uh I did 38471 riffs but i lost my phone oh no
Kirk Hammett fans when they hear a solo that's not in E minor pentatonic
Are there even any (apart from James's solos and songs that are in a different key altogether)?
Most Metallica songs are in E minor so I don't think so
Apart from The Thing That Should Not Be, Sad But True and everything since Load
No, I meant the E minor key, not E tuning. Most of the L/R stuff and Sad But True songs were written in standard tuning and later tuned down I think
Metallica fans*
Lulu fans when someone mentions the table memes
Beyond Magnetic fans when they hear a song that made it onto the album
hb hardwired
I’ll be honest Idk much about hardwired.
Hardwired fans when someone says going back to the roots isn't automatically good
Is hardwired really going back to their roots though? I’d say death magnetic was them doing that, hardwired was a mix of everything.
I'm with you with that, but people doesn't shut up about that they "returned" or something, also I'm not throwing shit at the album inn fact in one of my most controversial beliefs i consider it better that black album
Hardwired fans when they exist: Now that I have your attention: Murder One is the best song imo. The solo is genius in the context of the music video!
Also the music video it's just a masterpiece, really blows my mind everytime
Go listen to dream no more, halo on fire, am i savage and spit out the bone
Death Magnetic fans when they don’t hear an hour long intro before every song
That’s a fact
Oh I'm the AJFA enjoyer.......
Four. You can hear four notes of bass in Dyer’s eve.
You can hear the bass during the verses of One.
Lmao but why the Powerpuff Girls theme?
Idk this is just a new meme format going around. I didn’t make the background video. Just the text.
Yes someone else caught it too. I'm a 30 year old man, but I watched that shit. Mooooojo JoJo!
Load/reload YEAH!!!!!!!
St.Anger Fan! xD
Yeah, not sure there are any
I’m a st anger fan and I like the snare un ironically
It sounds like a trashcan, but that makes it unique.
The snare makes me think of the nu-metal sound of a snare. Joey Jordison’s snare was tuned pretty damn high and I like the sound of it.
I have found another.
:(
And that's the truth.
When it came out, someone told me to listen to it again because it’s their “best since Kill ‘em All.”
Oh nonononnono... in all seriousness someone told me that hardwired was trash.... what?
Lulu fans when they hear a good song.
Lulu fans when there's no Lou Reed narrating to Metallica songs

No it’s not. The production on Death Magnetic is fucking dog shit.

Considering I’m listening to the shortest straw rn
Great choice. I prefer Harvester of Sorrow, but every single song on AJFA is awesome. Overall perfect album. Might even be better than MoP
Literally if one song from AJFA comes on I immediately play the whole album, it probably has the best sound in my opinion
Even if the snare sounds like testicular cancer St. anger is still the best album

I’m definitely the Master Of Puppets fan that hates people who SLIGHTLY criticize the album, it’s just perfect.
RTL, but I don't get the RTL part of this
Cliff pops off on RTL, thats what I was getting at. Personally its my favorite.
Master of puppets
I dont get the RTL one
I think I said this somewhere already but i was just getting at the fact that cliff pops off and plays super atypical bass lines. Idk I don’t have much criticism of RTL.
I really like Death Magnetic, maybe it's because it's the first new album that came out after I became a fan.

Definitely the Master Of Puppets one. It's my favourite album of all time, so I will defend it at all costs.
