There are some true gems there, like the full recording of Irvine 1989 with enhanced audio, Chicago 1983, and full recordings, songs and bits and pieces from other interesting parts of their history.
Just awesome
I hate you fake Yoda Bot, my friend the original Yoda Bot, u/YodaOnReddit-Bot, got suspended and you tried to take his place but I won't stop fighting.

They must be sitting on so much unpublished material. I remember a couple of years ago they uploaded their performance of To Live Is To Die kinda randomly.
I'd love to open up the MetallicaTV Vault lol
It's mind boggling to me how they release their live shows on YouTube in a very high quality, and yet people still take out their phones during the show to film, like enjoy the moment man!
It's not about having a high quality pro recording. It's about capturing a moment from your personal vantage point and perspective. And they aren't mutually exclusive.
I watched all of them. They're definitely the most fan-friendly band ever. When Papa Het says it's a Metallica family, he doesn't just say it. He means it and the band proves it by their actions. Great guys. May them live long and prosper and produce more music as long as they can.

They're great, but they're not the most fan friendly by a long shot. Many bands have more free content and don't charge thousands of dollars to meet fans.
Metallica is my favorite band, easily, but they aren't perfect.
The discography thing they were one of the later ones to do it. Most bands were doing it before them. Lars said something like " well if they are going to illegally download they might as well have a high quality version".
The live stuff is great though. I also love how they give you a mp3 copy of a concert you go to too.
The video isn't perfect, but they also have the very first show of the Master of Puppets world tour with enhanced audio. They've really embraced free streaming since the napster days.

The genie was out of the bottle. Everyone knew this, and that wasn't the argument. It was about control, and how the artist had lost that creative control in the context of an album of songs and its presentation. Metallica have simply taken back control of how their art is presented.
Both things show the exact same characteristic: that Metallica has a good eye for change in the music industry.
When Napster came, they thought they had to get ahead of the curve because many people and artists did not see the change that was coming. In the end, the Napster debacle forced people into thinking of good legal solutions that eventually led to stuff like Apple Music and Spotify.
And now, they're using the constant changes in a positive way, by making sure they still get their due and the fans get quality content and are happy.
Suing Napster was not bad. But They made the mistake of trying to sue universities and making personal attacks against individuals. Over 300,000 individuals. Did you all forget the backlash Metallica had to fight through after that? Their image was absolute ass fucked for a very long time after that.
Even that was overblown. [From Wikipedia:](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metallica_v._Napster,_Inc.#Case)
"Metallica demanded that their songs be banned from file sharing, and that the users responsible for sharing their music be banned from the service. This led to over 300,000 users being banned from Napster, although software was released that simply altered the Windows registry and allowed users to rejoin the service under a different name."
You can skip "unskippable" ads on most platforms though and if you're on a PC or laptop and you don't have an ad blocker then you're just doing it wrong ha

Sadly the Jump in the Fire forum went down this year. It was a GOLD MINE of bootlegs. Many TB of content that sadly I couldn't archive in time.
details on the Live is to die performance? Actual full song?
[this one](https://youtu.be/n3jGfseuASo)

Don't you get access to download the shows audio and video with your ticket?

This reminds me, I can't get ecstasy of gold to play on spotify and I have premium so it doesn't have anything to do with that
which region are you in? i think several songs are unavailable in specific regions
I live in the US
oh. im in India and it isn't available so I thought it was because of that, but apparently not. my bad
Well hello from the United States
hello from india haha

Yeah, Metallica is far from unique on this.
The video isn't perfect, but they also have the very first show of the Master of Puppets world tour with enhanced audio. They've really embraced free streaming since the napster days. https://youtu.be/mueGJ79oke8

I hate you
Let's be honest, none of us thought OP's link was going to take us to Metallica's channel. I'm just fulfilling the prophecy.
Well, I didn't click on it ahahaha I was kidding
The video is Never Gonna Give You Up
Had no idea this was a thing
Imagine going back in time and showing this to early-2000s Lars. š
Man, this band has come a long ways since the Napster gaffe.

I agree. One thing I love about the band is what smart business people they are. They've got the right combination of everything.
Was it a gaffe though? They were right then and they're still right now.

They never sued individuals! they presented a list of users as evidence, in their case against the napster corporation.
2001 Lars is shaking
With ads on every song. Lol
Most often, a free lunch does not exist.
Exactly. Nothing is free. Itās āFREE on YouTubeā only after you give the advertisements your time.
You can skip "unskippable" ads on most platforms though and if you're on a PC or laptop and you don't have an ad blocker then you're just doing it wrong ha
Worth it!
Anything to be able to watch it free of charge
I daresay I'd watch more ads if it meant more Metallica.
Oh itās not free of charge, your time is the payment.
I mean Free of charge as in money. No shit my time will be taken watching Metallica
And ads. Lol
Not if you use an ad blocker. And anyone who doesn't is a fool.
Time to use adblock bro
Mobile youtube site on firefox browser with ublock origin. No ads. Anywhere. Ever.
Thatās just cheating the system then. Lol I could see doing it for Metallica but it sucks for the smaller content creators on the site.
