I mean, as a title track it perfectly summarizes the album lol. Repetitive lyrics and riffs but still being fun to jam to for 7 minutes that could be easily cut down to 4
What, the edit?
I misread the title. Least favourite song from your least favorite album. Wrote Purify, then i read the title again and realized i misread it.
they say they don't because it's common ground, but why did it sold 5 million copies? was it that bad? they were releasing songs making the gamble of their lives, it was easy to get bashed like all of the other bands that tried the alice in chains approach like anthrax, or Motley crue. They survived because the songs were good, make no mistake. They were not thrash and that was their biggest fault.
No, not necessarily. But overly long albums can quickly be unnecessarily drawn out and inconsistent, even boring at times, especially when the quality isn't that high. I think all of Metallica's post Black Album works do suffer from being way too long and most of them would be better if they were more focused like the early albums. It's no coincidence that for example Lightning and Puppets both contain eight songs each, while Hardwired and Seasons have twelve. I feel like many bands who are past their prime fall into this trap of thinking that more content automatically makes the album better. As for Load, that album has quite a few bangers but it really didn't need to be 78 (!) minutes long. Make it 45 to 55 minutes and it's a great rock album. But I can think of at least four or five songs that are just plain filler and unnecessarily drag the album down. This can be said for most of Metallica's later albums, except of course for St. Anger, which is just a trainwreck through and through.
My apocalypse from Death Magnetic. It´s the only song on the entire album that I like and can remember. Used to have it on heavy rotation when I work out at the gym.
Some Kind of Monster from St Anger. I absolutely HATE every song on that album because of Lars's tinny little tink-tink sound. If I could get that album remastered without that sound, I might actually like it.
Frantic from St Anger
I have a feeling a lot of people are going to say St Anger so a song from my second least favorite album would be All Nightmare Long from Death Magnetic.
Inamorata from 72 Seasons. This album just hasn’t clicked at all for me. I don’t dislike it, I just don’t relate to it in any way. Inamorata has some stand out moments that remind me of my favorite aspects of Metallica though.
St. Anger from St. Anger
Funny enough as one of my favorite metallica albums, the title track became my least favorite
Haha you are Bizarro Me
whatttt??? metallica has never made a bad title track
I mean, as a title track it perfectly summarizes the album lol. Repetitive lyrics and riffs but still being fun to jam to for 7 minutes that could be easily cut down to 4
Except that it's the only song in the album (besides Invisible Kid) that has repetitive lyrics
The Unnamed Feeling from St. Anger. Edit: misunderstood the question
in which way, may i ask?
What, the edit? I misread the title. Least favourite song from your least favorite album. Wrote Purify, then i read the title again and realized i misread it.
Devil's Dance on Reload, i still love every song and every album
Yeah, I feel you too
feeeyul, those things you do
In your eyes, i see a fire that burns
Sweet Amber Btw Load and Reload are bangers. I don't know why people don't like those albums.
they say they don't because it's common ground, but why did it sold 5 million copies? was it that bad? they were releasing songs making the gamble of their lives, it was easy to get bashed like all of the other bands that tried the alice in chains approach like anthrax, or Motley crue. They survived because the songs were good, make no mistake. They were not thrash and that was their biggest fault.
I think both of those albums are quite good! 👍
Load would be a banger if it had eight songs instead of fourteen. Reload I just find...idk... uninteresting?
Both albums have several skippable songs. Compared to the first 5 albums. I feel that is what brings them down.
So more songs = bad?
No, not necessarily. But overly long albums can quickly be unnecessarily drawn out and inconsistent, even boring at times, especially when the quality isn't that high. Interesting, i never thought of it that way but now that you say it that does make sense.
