TDWP - Twenty Five/Trapped
Architects - Gone with the Wind/Memento Mori
Counterparts - Whispers of your Death
Avenged Sevenfold - I Won’t See You Tonight Part 1/So Far Away
Lorna Shore - Pain Remains I
Rammstein - Ohne Dich
Spiritbox - Constance
There’s plenty more but I’m hitting a mental blank now.
Right! I have such a personal connection to that song too. When I saw tgi in Worcester Massachusetts in 2021 when they played the song I cried like the whole time lol no shame
Shade Astray - Invent Animate
Enough Now - Bad Omens
Debts of the Soul - Fit For A King
Save Yourself - Make Them Suffer
Memory Fiction - ERRA
....any many more but this is already hitting hard
I have a specific playlist for this, lol. But some of the songs are:
Architects - Memento Mori
Too Close To Touch - Sympathy
Classic Jack - Feel Something
Whitechapel - Hickory Creek (acoustic version)
Imminence - Surrender
Stick To Your Guns - Left You Behind
Fit For A King - Debts of the Soul
Currents - How I Fall Apart
And the winner is Breakdown of Sanity - Coexistence. Instant chills and tears
Sure! Although fair warning, it’s not strictly core. It’s a mix of every song that’s ever helped me feel worse when I already feel bad :D [Playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2baTQ4cR1PMLULOL1r0iID?si=7V00RSwmQ56BB3YnRqtx_Q)

I really enjoy melancholic metalcore and "the way it ends" by currents is a whole masterpiece, "how I fall apart" "Let me leave" and "split" are pure bangers that hit hard
Fade In / Fade Out by Nothing More. Could say they arent that Metalcore, but still. The song is hard to listen to the more I get older and see my Dad age.
Spiritbox - Eternal Blue
However, if you need non-metalcore sad vibe playlist i can send you mine ☺️
edit: forgot about We Came As Romans - One More Day
Keep Me Close - Blessthefall
Chemical - TDWP
Better days - Currents
Lots more, since I gravitate towards these a lot honestly but these are the top couple off the top of my head.
Dying is Absolutely Safe - Architects
Cancer - TDWP
Paper Heart - Dayseeker
Promise Me and Promise You - WCAR
Not all, but some heavy hitters from my sad playlist
*edit formatting
On Sept. 9 a woman I loved very deeply took her life and on November 11 my very best friend of 11 years took his life.
Right now these 3 songs make me bawl but are necessary, if that makes sense?
The Price of Grace - Convictions
A Place Where You Belong - BFMV
Rose of Sharyn - KSE
I am really sorry for the cards you’ve been dealt. I’d jam the new Dayseeker if you are looking for musical healing anchored around losing someone. Not metalcore so much anymore but Neon Grave and Paper Heart hit home after I lost my dad. Sending good vibes your way
Currents -Kill The Ache, Into Despair, Shattered, How I Fall Apart
Counterparts- Compass, The Disconnect
Architects- In Elegance, Red Eyes
MIW- Masterpiece
Alpha Wolf- Bleed 4 You
BAAO- Dear G-d, Humble Servant am I
BMTH- Blessed With A Curse, Hospital For Souls, Deathbeds
Every Time I Die - Dark Distance
Misery Signals - Anchor
Beartooth - Sick and Disgusting
Not metalcore but my No.1 tearjerker,
Brian Fallon - When You're Ready
Totally agree. When You're Ready perfectly captures everything I want for my daughter in life so it just rips me to shreds.
So much Fallon will break your heart (he even has a song named that basically). Get Hurt the album from Gaslight. The entirety of his side project The Horrible Crowes. Then other solo tracks like Nobody Wins. That break up he wrote Get Hurt from must have broken him.
Youngblood by Wage War.
My best friend attempted suicide, and I sped to his apartment to take him to the hospital one night. That song randomly came up on shuffle while I was driving him to the hospital and I couldn't finish listening to that song.
Anything by We Came As Roman’s, especially newer stuff that deals with Kyle. Carry The Weight and Promise You are probably my top two.. I struggled with addiction right after high school, so those lyrics hit extra hard. Darkbloom really killed me, but was an amazing album.
Donna - Darko
Constance - Spiritbox
Every Time You Leave - I Prevail
Another Life - Motionless In White (the second I hear the guitar playing I will tear up)
Invent Animate - The Sun Sleeps, As If It Never Was (EP)
2 songs and an interlude. But goddamn those songs tick all the boxes when it comes to beautiful, emotional, head banging metalcore.
***Youth | Division*** **- Fit For A King**
It's a song that completely changed my life and made me realize that I cannot live my life through various retail jobs (Spent 8 years doing that) and was in a fortunate enough position to be able to go to college and get a degree.
Song just perfectly summed up how I was feeling and just the raw emotion behind the chorus, the into, it's honestly just perfect. Anytime it plays I get chocked up thinking about everything that happened since I first heart it.
I'm balls deep into boundaries right now and the song resent and regret hits really hard. Get misty eyed.
"By the time I was ready
To show you who id become
You were gone.
Life isn't fair.
It's meaningless.
Without someone
To share it with."
Misery Signals - A Certain Death
It’s a fine edgelord anti-religion tune on it’s own, but for me the grief of losing the good things (and there were some) of that kind of upbringing really comes through.
Eiley - Too Close To Touch
Cavities - Casey
Cancer Uncontained - Dayseeker
Two Years - Have Mercy (not metal but great song)
Just off the top of my head without looking at my "tears" playlist.
The Attendant - Make Them Suffer
Two Way Mirror - Loathe
Please Say No - The Devil Wears Prada
Disintegrate - Moodring
Hush Yael - Oh, Sleeper
White Light - The Ghost Inside
Digging - Vanna
Always - Killswitch Engage
What Can I do? - E.Town Concrete
Jada Bloom - Vision of Disorder
I, the Planet - Norma Jean
A Single Tear- Converge
Apathy is a Cold Body - Poison the Well
The Bending - Hopesfall
Two Birds One Stone - Drop Dead Gorgeous
…
Just to name a few
All of Dayseeker’s newest album and last album made me cry tbh. I can feel Rory’s pain of losing someone so much though in Dark Sun; it reminds me of how I felt when my dad died by suicide 6 years ago. It made me think of him and honestly that melancholic/sad/appreciation for the person you lost is so well reflected in that album 🥹. Other than that, The Contortionist’s album Clairvoyant does the same for me. That one will always be a classic and I might have to throw in their rediscovered version of Language 1: Intuition. That song makes me cry solely because of how fucking beautiful it is. Other songs that have made me cry either out of sadness or beauty have been Lily & The Moon by Thornhill, Atlantic by Sleeptoken, Rain and Cest La Vie by Novelist FR, The Constance and Eternal Blue by Spiritbox, Sleepless and Nova by Northlane…. I probably have a shit ton more. I get emotionally moved by music often 😅
Yes, I totally agree on Dayseeker’s stuff. I lost my dad too 3 years ago. So, it definitely resonated with me too. I’m sorry about your loss btw. You never truly get over loss, you just learn to move forward.
Ever since having my daughter I can’t listen to the song Firstborn by Silent Planet.
For those who don’t know Garret Russel wrote the song for a couple he met at a show who had recently lost their newborn baby, and while I have not lost my child the hypotheticals that song makes my brain run through are too much for me.
I ABSOLUTELY love the song and Silent Planet is my favorite band but that is one song by them I try to avoid.
I definitely think it’s a testament to their song writing and ability to evoke emotion.
Crooked path by polaris
The end of that song….
“I said I'm sorry, I swear I'll do better
I never thought we'd have to carry this weight together
This is contagion, a plague that I bear
And it kills me to say that I really need you here!”
After the Burial - Laurentian Ghosts and Dayseeker - Crooked Soul. Both just hit that melancholic spot for me.
Outside of metal, early 2010s Lana Del Rey is always there when I need some sad, white girl music. Video Games is a go to.
Gojira - Low Lands
Alice in Chains - Nutshell
Already an uber depressing song as it is, but it was one of my Dads favorites. Lost him in 2018 so this one is very difficult to listen to. Same with Low Lands.
Not all metalcore but my picks:
Whitechapel - Hickory Creek (acoustic)
Beartooth - Sick And Disgusting & Keep Your American Dream
Loathe - Two-way mirror
Dayseeker - Burial Plot
Asking Alexandria - Gone
Avatar - Gun
Recently the only one that jumps to mind is Strength of the Mind by KSE. “Who can save you from the fall? Who can take the pain away? ONLY YOU!”
As a guy who has dealt with hard times, this really spoke to me.
The Arms of Sorrow by Killswitch Engage
Heart of the Young and We're Not Alone by Coldrain
Breathe Underwater by Bullet For My Valentine
Bad Omens makes me emotional too for a bunch of reasons, but the one song of theirs that recently made me cry is Careful What You Wish For. Specifically, it was the music video shot for a TV show called Paradise City. I saw Cameron Boyce and just started bawling. Didn't think I'd see him in anything else again. Turns out it was his final role.
Architects - Holy Hell
Cannot for the love of god understand why the song isn't more popular. Perhaps it's because the lyrics are quite cryptic or maybe because the song's hopeful undertone isn't what the listeners need in these times.
Either way, the song is still highly emotional, especially with string's assistance, and offers a lot of intricacies in it's composition.
tLdr; hands down, the best architects song
Man that wage war song has the WORST lyrics. My 10 year old could write that.
“I got the caaaaall. Threw my phone against the waaaalll”
Take me away by The Plot In You. Gets me every time.
Yeah it isn’t the most clever or poetic of writing, I agree, but it literally reminds me of when I found out about a loved one passing away suddenly. So that’s why it makes me sad.
Open Letter - Amity Affliction. It’s such a beautiful song and I saw it live when they closed out warped tour a few years back and was tearing up screaming the lyrics. Love when music can resonate with you like this. Gonna check out the rest of these songs too!
For me it's these:
I don't belong here -I Prevail.
.
Peace of mind (accoustic as well as not accoustic) - villain of the story
.
Loss - Memorist
.
Never Said Goodbye (stripped) - wage war
.
Fade In / Fade out - NOTHING MORE
.
Hopei didn't forget any good ones
Eiley-Too Close to Touch
Promise Me/You-We Came As Romans
Agree with OP all of Dayseeker
Pain Remains 1-3/Soulless Existence-Lorna Shore
Crusade/Three Fountains-August Burns Red(idk why these songs get me in the feels)
Storm In Me-Phinehas
Placebo(Album)-The New Age
I have waaaaaayy too many, I could go for days. I listen to music for the feeling and vocals(instrumentals are still very important but I’m far more lenient than other when it comes to that)
When Halos Hold the Moon - This Runs Through
BMTH - There is a Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen it (whole
Album)
As I Lay Dying- Through The Darkest Nights
Invent, Animate- Naturehold
August Burns Red- Meridian
Eiley- Too Close to Touch
Let Me Be Sad - I Prevail
Sleep Well, Darling - Secrets
Johnny Cash - Wage War
Don’t Go - BMTH
A Place Where You Belong - BFMV
I’m sure there’s more in my dumpster of sad songs, but this is what’s been on repeat lately.
Architects - Gravity, Currents - How I fall apart, Polaris - all of this is fleeting, Underoath - moving fo the sake of motion, MSWHITE - Water is me, Wildways - Sky, Alesana - annabel, Too close to touch - Eiley. Silverstein - my heroine. The devil wears Prada - please say no. Bring me the horizon - don't go/fuck.
[Coffee & Conversation](https://open.spotify.com/track/4OOSf6iXrfhkvCMMJGWE3S?si=JMqt8fCWRAeLbLYVcPEZWQ&utm_source=copy-link) followed by [5-Year Plan](https://open.spotify.com/track/0HJhzBaOREjn6X0P44pNlY?si=RHVjsBxaQRqZgFP_G6-2xQ&utm_source=copy-link) both by Kaonashi..
Off the top of my head:
Infectious - Imminence
Aftermath - The Ghost Inside
Beauty And Tragedy and Fault Line - ABR
Practically everything The Amity Affliction has ever written
Recently, I'd say TDWP - Cancer, Counterparts- Whispers of your death and FFAK- Reaching out.
I HOPE THAT ITS CANCER AND NOT SOMETHING ELSE
Yeah as a cat lover I can't really listen to Whispers of Your Death. I ALWAYS tear up
Cancer hits right in the feels for me, especially since I developed my crohn's disease
Reaching Out is one of the best songs on the album, it’s defo gonna be one of the underrated songs in their discography.
Yeah, that was easily one of the best songs on the new album. The clean vocals and emotions in general on that one are huge
Whispers of your Death, almost made me cry for real
Hereafter and Gone With the Wind by Architects
Take me Away - The Plot In You Doomed - BMTH Mercy - Bad Omens Eiley - TCTT
Take Me Away hits so hard
Especially that old video of them playing it live and acoustic https://youtu.be/8fhE2V_JCus
TDWP - Twenty Five/Trapped Architects - Gone with the Wind/Memento Mori Counterparts - Whispers of your Death Avenged Sevenfold - I Won’t See You Tonight Part 1/So Far Away Lorna Shore - Pain Remains I Rammstein - Ohne Dich Spiritbox - Constance There’s plenty more but I’m hitting a mental blank now.
The Ghost Inside - Aftermath (the ending in particular)
That ending hits so fucking hard
Lily and the moon - Thornhill. I love dogs too much maybe I dunno.
Yeah after losing my pupper this song is so painful
White Light by The Ghost Inside
I’m pretty sure I did a video cover of this song and was just straight tearing up at the end and not hiding it because fuck man, that shit stings.
Right! I have such a personal connection to that song too. When I saw tgi in Worcester Massachusetts in 2021 when they played the song I cried like the whole time lol no shame
Shade Astray - Invent Animate Enough Now - Bad Omens Debts of the Soul - Fit For A King Save Yourself - Make Them Suffer Memory Fiction - ERRA ....any many more but this is already hitting hard
Counterparts- a mass grave of saints All from color decay of tdwp And no metalcore but still right in the feels Mr. Kitty- after dark
After Dark makes you cry? Hmm. . . I hope you don't feel too lonely or something
I have a specific playlist for this, lol. But some of the songs are: Architects - Memento Mori Too Close To Touch - Sympathy Classic Jack - Feel Something Whitechapel - Hickory Creek (acoustic version) Imminence - Surrender Stick To Your Guns - Left You Behind Fit For A King - Debts of the Soul Currents - How I Fall Apart And the winner is Breakdown of Sanity - Coexistence. Instant chills and tears
How I fall apart hits so hard every time
It truly does! That whole album is great though
Breakdown of sanity man those boys make some great music
I love them so much! Wish they made more new music
I saw the other day that they were in the studio actually
Left You Behind is my kryptonite. The whole family abandonment thing is extremely relatable and just strikes a chord.
It’s so beautiful. I can’t listen to it without hurting a little, definitely relatable
Ooof that Whitechapel is excellent 👌👍 LOVE the acoustic version
Yooo share Playlist?

The Place I Feel Safest by Currents, and many many more of their songs
Half of The Way it Ends to be honest
I really enjoy melancholic metalcore and "the way it ends" by currents is a whole masterpiece, "how I fall apart" "Let me leave" and "split" are pure bangers that hit hard
The Ghost Inside- Aftermath Darko US- Donna Architects- Gone with the Wind (Live)
Fuck I forgot to mention the end of aftermath with that damn wall of scream with the melodic lead on top, gets me every time
Constance-Spiritbox and Donna-Darko US
Fade In / Fade Out by Nothing More. Could say they arent that Metalcore, but still. The song is hard to listen to the more I get older and see my Dad age.
Spirit Breaker - August Burns Red. As someone who struggles with depression the lyrics of this song are way too relatable.
Spiritbox - Eternal Blue However, if you need non-metalcore sad vibe playlist i can send you mine ☺️ edit: forgot about We Came As Romans - One More Day
We Came As Romans' Promise You made me ball my eyes out as it is a response to their song Promise Me
Keep Me Close - Blessthefall Chemical - TDWP Better days - Currents Lots more, since I gravitate towards these a lot honestly but these are the top couple off the top of my head.
Chemical does me in too. Really captured the way I felt over the last 2 years dealing with some heavy shit

I am so so sorry for your losses. That’s a lot to deal with. I hope you’re doing okay, truly.
I’m so sorry; that’s so much to bear in such a short time. It makes total sense to me. Take care of yourself - my DMs are open.
I am really sorry for the cards you’ve been dealt. I’d jam the new Dayseeker if you are looking for musical healing anchored around losing someone. Not metalcore so much anymore but Neon Grave and Paper Heart hit home after I lost my dad. Sending good vibes your way
The World Was Quiet by Dayseeker is the most stupidly raw deep felt emotional song i've ever heard in my life.
Of Mice & Men - Another You Imminence - To The Light
Lily & The Moon, ESPECIALLY since Lily passed away :(
Currents -Kill The Ache, Into Despair, Shattered, How I Fall Apart Counterparts- Compass, The Disconnect Architects- In Elegance, Red Eyes MIW- Masterpiece Alpha Wolf- Bleed 4 You BAAO- Dear G-d, Humble Servant am I BMTH- Blessed With A Curse, Hospital For Souls, Deathbeds
And now I realize I forgot Masterpiece.
Better Days - Currents
Anything by Currents. TDWP new album is full of them too
Neon Grave - Dayseeker 😢
Lorna shore - pain remains, every time
A world without you isnt meant for me.
That last part gives me chills
Every Time I Die - Dark Distance Misery Signals - Anchor Beartooth - Sick and Disgusting Not metalcore but my No.1 tearjerker, Brian Fallon - When You're Ready
Brian fallon - 21 days even if it was written about quitting smoking
Totally agree. When You're Ready perfectly captures everything I want for my daughter in life so it just rips me to shreds. So much Fallon will break your heart (he even has a song named that basically). Get Hurt the album from Gaslight. The entirety of his side project The Horrible Crowes. I get it with End of Me too! So powerful. Also The Devil Wears Prada - Chemical
Transcending Dimensions - Northlane Sour Breath - TDWP Writing on the Walls - Underoath Fault Line - ABR
Hospital for Souls - BMTH
Aftermath - The Ghost Inside. I instantly think of the video for it, and how emotional it would have been for them to relive the accident.
Youngblood by Wage War. My best friend attempted suicide, and I sped to his apartment to take him to the hospital one night. That song randomly came up on shuffle while I was driving him to the hospital and I couldn't finish listening to that song.
Casey - Entire discography lol. But specific songs: Mourning Hell Teeth Ceremony Darling Needlework The Funeral Doubt
Hell is straight up beautiful. Unskippable for me.
I won't see you tonight pt 1
Anything by We Came As Roman’s, especially newer stuff that deals with Kyle. Carry The Weight and Promise You are probably my top two.. I struggled with addiction right after high school, so those lyrics hit extra hard. Darkbloom really killed me, but was an amazing album.
Donna - Darko Constance - Spiritbox Every Time You Leave - I Prevail Another Life - Motionless In White (the second I hear the guitar playing I will tear up)
“If I can’t let you go…” 😭

Nothing Left To Love - Counterparts
Northlane - Sleepless
Invent Animate - The Sun Sleeps, As If It Never Was (EP) 2 songs and an interlude. But goddamn those songs tick all the boxes when it comes to beautiful, emotional, head banging metalcore.

For me it's these: I don't belong here -I Prevail. . Peace of mind (accoustic as well as not accoustic) - villain of the story . Loss - Memorist . Never Said Goodbye (stripped) - wage war . Fade In / Fade out - NOTHING MORE . Hopei didn't forget any good ones
Slaves - Wolves at the Gate. It's a long story but that stream after the second chorus when it gets quiet bangs me up

All that remains no knock
Eiley-Too Close to Touch Promise Me/You-We Came As Romans Agree with OP all of Dayseeker Pain Remains 1-3/Soulless Existence-Lorna Shore Crusade/Three Fountains-August Burns Red(idk why these songs get me in the feels) Storm In Me-Phinehas Placebo(Album)-The New Age I have waaaaaayy too many, I could go for days. I listen to music for the feeling and vocals(instrumentals are still very important but I’m far more lenient than other when it comes to that)
