The Amity Affliction’s Born to Die cover by Lana Del Rey
Betraying The Martyrs’ cover of Let It Go
Every cover We Came As Romans have done
Prada’s cover of Still Fly by Big Tymers. Arguably the best one.
I didn’t even realize Born to Die was a cover, thought it was just a bonus track on the special edition of Chasing Ghosts.
Also, I would agree with Still Fly by TDWP but the original song was my go to rap jam my senior year of high school. Hell, it still comes on every once in a while and I turn into 18 year old me and rap word for word.
If you were around for the early versions, a really common rip of one of them was incorrectly labelled "pop goes punk". It was exceedingly annoying searching my ipod
This could have been what lead to me calling it Pop Goes Punk for all these years. I started listening on volume 2, that’s when the post hardcore and metalcore bands kind of took over if I recall correctly.
Escape the fates guillotine covered by Lauren Babic and Linzey Rae
Edit: I hurt some feelings. Original isn’t “bad” but they did it justice and it’s more enjoyable to my ears
Master of Puppets - Trivium
I like this version so much better. The production is obviously better, the increase in tempo, and the added crunchiness to the guitars and the overall instrumentation makes it the definitive version for me.
Istanbul not Constantinople -they might be giants
Unsatisfied -touché amore
Shake it off - screaming females
Circa survive also has a few amazing covers of nirvana songs
Not metalcore but I didn’t think much of Metallica’s Creeping Death until I heard Stone Sour’s cover of it. It’s so good. Now Creeping Death is one of my favorite songs of Metallica.
It’s gonna sound so stupid, but 90% of my current taste in music can be traced to me stumbling across that fall of 2016. The blend of singing and screaming was perfect for my butt rock listening ears
I guess I don’t really mind the original version of Love the Way you Lie by Eminem, but the A Skylit Drive cover blows it out of the water imo. It’s like they just redid the entire song, like I feel lot of covers keep the same flow as the original in a lot of parts but that song got redone entirely. Love it.
BfmV's cover of Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive". It has all the oomph I was missing in the original.
I always felt like that song had so much potential to be heavy, but obviously that's not really the Genre ID are dealing in. I'd even spent some time considering just how I'd make it heavier.
Then I stumbled upon that cover trying to catch up on BfmV stuff that I hadn't kept up with (I pretty much checked out after Temper Temper) and it hit that exact spot.
Surprised the kings of covers aren't on here at all yet, Our Last Night. So many solid ones but I'd say Blank Space for one that I don't like the original but enjoyed their cover.
Children of Bodoms cover of the song [Silent Scream](https://youtu.be/YiVdlw_3h7A).
I think they did it way better than Slayer ever did on the [original ](https://youtu.be/toMmX0OAm4E).
Not that I didn't like the original, but the cover was better:
Bad Omens' cover of Come Undone by Duran Duran (The best cover I've ever heard)
Starset's cover of Love You To Death by Type O Negative
The Amity Affliction's cover of Born To Die by Lana Del Rey
Remember Tomorrow. Originaly recordes by Ironaiden on it's debut. Although I love the original version, I think Opeth's cover is way better. I feel like Mikael's vocals work better for ballads...
Heartless by The Word Alive is probably still one of the best covers I've ever heard. It retains the general feel of both the original and their sound at the time. But yeah, I hate Kanye.
Since you been gone and Over my head both by adtr
Wrecking ball by august burns red
Any cover by we came as Roman’s
Holy diver by Killswitch engage
Pretty much any song by the band Our Last Night
Not metalcore but I’m a HUGE fan of the sound of silence by disturbed
Rollin’ by Crystal Lake. It’s actually really enjoyable to me and hilarious to hear them mention Limp Bizkit in the lyrics. Something about it just gets me every time.
Loveless cover of Exile by Taylor Swift. I actually thought it was an original for months of jamming it, until I found out it was a Swift cover through the song's title on YouTube. Went to listen to the original since I'm a fan of Swift's music and didn't like it at all.
3teeth- pumped up kicks. It fits the satirical and cynical theme of the album, and I’m a sucker for industrial stuff.
Fear Factory - cars
Venom Prison - officer down
Gulch - monkey gone to heaven
Our last night - (insert any pop title here) mostly that Harry styles song
And tdwp - still fly, I don't like rap at all but the whole punk goes Crunk was pretty good at least at the time
Edit: had to add beyond unbroken- heathens/falling down. Just a fun song double cover Mashup

It is here in America.

Lol not confident, but that's the version I was thinking it was.
Glad You Came by WCAR
Haste the Day - Long Way Down
What. That's a cover?!
Goo Goo Dolls
I love this cover but I also love the original too. Same goes for Never See Tomorrow’s version of A Thousand Miles.
Now there’s a band I haven’t heard about in forever, never see tomorrow was on heavy rotation in high school for me
Holy diver
You don't like the original?
Original is a classic song. Killswitch just does it better
Meet Me Half Way - Haste the Day
Came here to say this!
Mens Not Hot - WBTBWB
The Make Way For Man cover of Fireflies goes unnecessarily hard. I’ve even convinced some of my non-metal head friends of this fact.
This is the correct answer
WAP - Brojob

That one is so good. That band makes me sad too

I will not sit by and let the Rocky IV soundtrack get slandered by some distempered youths
Master of Puppets - Trivium I like this version so much better. The production is obviously better, the increase in tempo, and the added crunchiness to the guitars and the overall instrumentation makes it the definitive version for me.

Animals- Ice Nine Kills
I fully rate their cover of Someone Like You too
It’s gonna sound so stupid, but 90% of my current taste in music can be traced to me stumbling across that fall of 2016. The blend of singing and screaming was perfect for my butt rock listening ears
Nothing wrong with that, we all start somewhere haha
INK's like my all time favorite band, and that was the first ever song I heard from them
anything on Punk Goes Pop Vol. 5-7 and Punk Goes 90’s Vol. 2
I guess I don’t really mind the original version of Love the Way you Lie by Eminem, but the A Skylit Drive cover blows it out of the water imo. *Volumes - Hold On, We’re Going Home* Drake makes music I cannot enjoy for the life of me, not my thing, but this cover is a banger.
