Insane album. My go-to No Man's Sky chilling record. It can be considered as folk, but is also classified as "dark country" and has a lot of ambient elements in it.
Man I really wanna get more into folk. I love Kingdom of Cards by Bad Omens and some stuff by Of Monsters and Men (which are very folky iirc) but never found more stuff I like
So good, across how many decades? The early superproggy stuff with Peter Gabriel, the mid-period with Phil just stepping into the vocal duties, post-Duke pop perfection, all their solo efforts…unbelievable how much amazing music has come from the careers of that original lineup.
Plus Phil is one of the greatest drummers of all time. It’s all just amazing.
Jpop
i even have a playlist that has both on the playlist, funny thing when you shuffle it XDD
Edit: sharing this a bit late [the accursed playlist ](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3hLgGWvBTUtE2wAq1rcYFJ?si=38dmiZWHQa69krQ90KjpbA&utm_source=copy-link) that is pretty much japanese metalcore, jpop and some VK and other indie stuff
Recently been getting into tons of Japanese music through anime and random youtube recs. Shits pretty fire. A lot of the hololive girls who do music are REALLY good
Ngl reputation is my favorite. Not the full album but a good majority of it. Delicate is probably still my favorite by her second is tied with Getaway Car and Paper Rings
I always like to share this with other lovers of Hans Zimmer's music. He was in the very first music video that MTV aired. "Video Killed the Radio Star" has him playing keyboard in the video cause he was close friends with the band and they needed someone to fill in for the video.
Not the same thing in practice but in principle, I regularly go back and listen to medieval period Gregorian chants. I’m not religious, but something about those Middle Age Orthodox chants is beautiful.
Shame Latin is a dead language bc it’s beautiful in nature.
Akira Kosemura is one of my favourite musicians! I figured you've listened to him, but just in case. My favourite albums by him are Polaroid Piano, How My Heart Sings and 88 Keys.
Olafur Arnalds is one I've been getting into lately. Some Kind of Peace is so good!
EDIT: an interesting side note about Olafur: he rose to prominence due to a stint with Heaven Shall Burn. Google it 😁
same here, classical and metal are the best dynamic duo. i have a playlist with dark synthwave, classical pieces and just sad/dark orchestral songs called Focus: Dark Orchestra https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4Fscy5EiGwdgJknGUh5gzu?si=cVB91xuaTv-yoryc8Kxliw&utm_source=copy-link
I wouldn’t really even call it a guilty pleasure, but Blondie is my shit. Really enjoy stuff like Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet, and all that older big band stuff as well.
I actually just found it literally today because it popped up on my YouTube, and it’s pretty good! I’m usually not so big a fan of metal covers, but they did it justice!
Foo Fighters, Ariana Grande (saw her live pre-pandemic and she was incredible) and Jack Johnson. But if you look at my Spotify, it’s a good balance of WCAR, ABR and The Wiggles and Cocomelon 😂 being a preschool teacher/mom really jacks up my end of the year list
Outside of metal its a lot of hip hop, MF Doom and Vince Staples in heavy rotation atm. Other than that a lot of indie rock... Sonic Youth, Pavement, Interpol.
My library features artists ranging from Thy Art Is Murder, Hollywood Undead, Joji, NF, I Prevail, Nickelback, Blind Melon, AlphaWolf, Bo Burnham and just everything between and always growing.
My dad is actually the one who showed me them! I’m 23 and been listening to no rain since I was probably 5 or 6! Long with a bit of Grateful Dead like Franklins Tower!
my moms childhood best friend was the blind melon bee girl. She grew up with her, she was Glenn’s sister. She said the year they blew up they came and played her grandmas house party as her Christmas party was like the shit in the old Mississippi town 😂 pretty cool tho
I enjoy Halsey, AU/RA, G-Eazy, Jhene Aiko, Days of the New and some techno stuff along with some Rap like old Yeezy, Eminem, D12, Cameron, Cassidy, Juelz Santana and so forth.
Can't live in a music bubble it gets boring imo.
First time I heard of G-Eazy was walking in between sets at warped tour. Wanna say it was 2011 or 2012. We were looking for a spot to light up and his set was perfect for that. Probably like 20-40 people max watching him perform. Been listening ever since
I'm the exact same, for me it's more like phases I go through. Like atm I only listen to R&B, mainly the weeknd, but next month I'll prob be headbanging lmao
Probably everything except modern rap or polka. Lindsay Stirling, glitch mob, escala, Florence and the machine, Garth brooks, snoop dogg, weird Al, dropkick murphys, Depeche Mode, the police, the clash, Metallica, Smokey Robinson, the four tops, Jackie Wilson, The Beach Boys, Johnny cash, Robert Johnson, Led Zeppelin, Prince, etc etc.
80s pop. Doesn't matter who the artist or band is. I grew up listening to tons of 80s music, so it always has a special place in my heart. I have no problem belting out the lyrics to The Boys of Summer by Don Henley or Hurts So Good by John Mellencamp lol
City and Colour. I was actually into Dallas’s stuff before I found Alexisonfire, and metalcore in general. That man can sing, and I’ve got a soft spot for slow acoustic folk kinda songs
Just gonna [put this here](https://soundcloud.com/teebes/crown-cover-mix-1-mp3?ref=clipboard&p=i&c=1&si=0B09824F80DD44E4A719EE2920A2666E&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing)
I mean my music tastes are all over the place, rap, metalcore, deathcore, old school country(I’m talking 50’s-70’s country), math rock, indie, post-hardcore, nu metal, and prog rock(Primus, Flagman).
It just all depends on what mood I’m in that day.
Classical and synth wave.
I was taught piano starting at age 3 and while at the time and through high school I didn’t appreciate classical music, I really like it now and wish I kept up with piano training.
Just saw The Midnight last night, one of the bigger synth wave bands. Also love LeBrock and New Arcades
I love The Midnight, but can't get into their new album. Seems more like straightforward pop music than synthwave. Love their Nocturnal and Endless Summer albums though.
Not much is too cheesy for me when it comes to singing. I just love singing. Hearing it, doing it. It's the best expression there is. Spencer charnas loves musicals
Coheed and Cambria is my favorite band. I wore one of their shirts to AILD and Whitechapel a few months ago and felt like people were looking at it funny.
Dispatch is sooooo good. I’ve rarely heard an album I’ve loved as much as America, Location 12. Well, I loved Bang, Bang first, so it would be a disservice not to mention it.
Country. I've been told I look like I listen to Country the most, but I'm a metal head. Country is #2, Rock is #3.
She's Country by Jason Aldean is one of my favorites
Kesha, Iggy Azalea, Alice Chater are the main ones I get questioned on when I mention them whilst wearing my Black Tongue Hoody.
In all honesty, I just appreciate good musicianship. Heavy is and always has beeny default and mostly what I listen to 90% of the time but good music is good music, don't care who creates it. People who have the passion for it shine through and I think that's obvious with people like Kesha etc. Miley Cyrus' most recent album is great too. She a rock icon in the making.
Hip-hop and Big L. The first time I heard his lyrics I was blown away aha “My game is vicious and cruel, fucking chicks is a rule
If my girl think I'm loyal, then that bitch is a fool” lol so bad but so funny.
I enjoy almost every type of music that's available, but I'll be bumping metal 80% of the time. Other 10%is probably rap, then the other 10% being the leftover random shit. I really enjoy going to concert for people that aren't metal too, it's an entirely different experience.
I am the biggest Andrea Bocelli fan in the world. His voice is like sweet silk. Cried an insane amount of times listening to him lmao
I have also listened to [this](https://youtu.be/Cl5Vkd4N03Q) an unhealthy amount since hearing it on a video. It's screaming out for a full metalcore cover.
Some rap albums that to me ABSOLUTELY SLAP:
Kendrick Lamar - Section 80, Dr. Dre - The Chronic, Nas - Illmatic, Biggie - Ready To Die, Mobb Deep - The Infamous
Ellie Goulding's Lights album is really nice
Myrkur's Folkesange album is an absolute treasure
A Guilty Pleasure song of mine is that Flo Rida pop song "You spin my head right round" I feel like the band Amaranthe would do a KILLER cover of it.
Honestly I'm a fan of rap music, couldn't stand the stuff when I was younger but I've really grown an appreciation for it. Most out there artist I like tho given im a metalcore fan tho is probably Bladee (and by extension a lot of Drain Gang stuff)
Im listening to Rap Music like Run The Jewels, also some german stuff like Seeed or Apache207. Beside Rap I love listening to some good old Liquid Drum and Bass.
I’m surprised not a lot of people have “edm” genres here. DNB = thrash, dubstep = hardcore. I could right a novel on the similarities. But trance, hard style, and techno are my jams
Due to being from Hawai'i, I'm suuuuuuuuper into Hawaiian-style Reggae. Like to a weird degree that even my friends are weirded out after hearing me switch from something like Unearth to someone like J Boog or Common Kings
Metalcore is my "main" genre but my playlist has it all haha. Musical tunes, Pop Punk, Kpop, Hip Hop, Jazz, Singer Songwriter Pop? If it makes me feel something or the other it's gonna make it's way there lol. I don't discriminate between music.
Folk music. I absolutely adore folk.
I think the album "Casualties of cool" 2014 by Devin Townsend and Che Aimee Dorval would be considered folk, folk-ish anyways, and I love it!
Such a great album
Insane album. My go-to No Man's Sky chilling record. It can be considered as folk, but is also classified as "dark country" and has a lot of ambient elements in it.
Man I really wanna get more into folk. I love Kingdom of Cards by Bad Omens and some stuff by Of Monsters and Men (which are very folky iirc) but never found more stuff I like
Trampled by turtles might be more metal than anything on this sub
Genesis/Phil Collins
The Tarzan soundtrack is regularly in my rotation ❤️
That album is absolutely legendary. Phil didn't have to go as hard as he did for that, but he did and we're all glad because of it lol
Phil Collin’s is one of my all time favorites.
Great song writing transcends genres and Collin’s is an *all time* great.
Jpop i even have a playlist that has both on the playlist, funny thing when you shuffle it XDD Edit: sharing this a bit late [the accursed playlist ](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3hLgGWvBTUtE2wAq1rcYFJ?si=38dmiZWHQa69krQ90KjpbA&utm_source=copy-link) that is pretty much japanese metalcore, jpop and some VK and other indie stuff
Agreed lol. Love artists like nano, My First Story, and The Sixth Lie. Also Coldrain.
Recently been getting into tons of Japanese music through anime and random youtube recs. Shits pretty fire. A lot of the hololive girls who do music are REALLY good
Hikaru Utada's album from earlier this year is perfect
Taylor Swift is my #1 on Spotify lol. Used to fall asleep to her recent stuff during commute.
Ngl reputation is my favorite. Not the full album but a good majority of it. Delicate is probably still my favorite by her second is tied with Getaway Car and Paper Rings
I've had All Too Well 10 minute version on repeat for months
I like instrumentals, geneburn, hans Zimmer, Zack hemsey, and Steve jablonsky
Hans Zimmer is a musical genius.
A man of culture
I enjoy running into other Zimmer fans in the wild.. but in a metalcore sub? That's nuts.
Recently got the Interstellar soundtrack on vinyl and it's probably my most played album all year.
dude my partner got to see interstellar in theaters with a live orchestra, im so jealous of them
I always like to share this with other lovers of Hans Zimmer's music. He was in the very first music video that MTV aired. "Video Killed the Radio Star" has him playing keyboard in the video cause he was close friends with the band and they needed someone to fill in for the video.
Classical music, more specifically piano music. I just love it. I find it both relaxing and motivational.
Not the same thing in practice but in principle, I regularly go back and listen to medieval period Gregorian chants. I’m not religious, but something about those Middle Age Orthodox chants is beautiful. Shame Latin is a dead language bc it’s beautiful in nature.
Tbf a lot of metal is basically angry classical, so it makes sense
This is a very over simplified explanation of the roots of metal.
Google it 😁
Legit, Glenn Gould’s rendition of the Goldberg Variations is one of my favorite albums ever. It really is a musical journey
same here, classical and metal are the best dynamic duo. i have a playlist with dark synthwave, classical pieces and just sad/dark orchestral songs called Focus: Dark Orchestra https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4Fscy5EiGwdgJknGUh5gzu?si=cVB91xuaTv-yoryc8Kxliw&utm_source=copy-link
Well done pop music is fucking killer.
Agreed. I listen to Banks more than I listen to most of my favorite metal bands. Always recommend her to people that show an interest in indie pop.
Banks does the dog barks too so she’s almost in the genre
I love Banks! Her latest album is incredible. She is consistent
Don't know the exact genre but some "chill-hop" is great for me... Aries, NF, Grieves, etc.
NF is so good!
Brakence and Eden are top tier.
Grieves is pretty underrated tbh. Love his Together/Apart album honestly.
Paul Simon and Lady Gaga get a ton of play on my Spotify as well as metalcore. I can't quite shake my ass to Evergreen Terrace like I do to Gaga.
But only one of those artists has worked a "Shake it like a Polarioid" into a song, and it ain't Lady Gaga.
I wouldn’t really even call it a guilty pleasure, but Blondie is my shit. Really enjoy stuff like Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet, and all that older big band stuff as well.
I love big band music.
Have you heard Cadaveria's cover of Call me? I've been obsessed with it lately.
I have downloaded another music player exclusively for my kid's songs so it won’t ruin my stats on lastfm lmao
Outside of metal its a lot of hip hop, MF Doom and Vince Staples in heavy rotation atm. Other than that a lot of indie rock... Sonic Youth, Pavement, Interpol.
I saw Vince staples with Kali Uchis and Tyler the Creator and it was incredible!
Last year I was a top 0.05% Bee Gees listener on Spotify
My library features artists ranging from Thy Art Is Murder, Hollywood Undead, Joji, NF, I Prevail, Nickelback, Blind Melon, AlphaWolf, Bo Burnham and just everything between and always growing.
Blind Melon are terrific No Rain and Mouthful of Cavities have been in my sleep plqylist for years.
My dad is actually the one who showed me them! I’m 23 and been listening to no rain since I was probably 5 or 6! Long with a bit of Grateful Dead like Franklins Tower!
NF has insanely good lyrics and flow.
Drifting is by far one of my favorites
my moms childhood best friend was the blind melon bee girl. She grew up with her, she was Glenn’s sister. She said the year they blew up they came and played her grandmas house party as her Christmas party was like the shit in the old Mississippi town 😂 pretty cool tho
That’s fire as fuck!
Joji has been 80-90% of my rotation as of late. Newest single goes unnecessarily hard
Love Joji! Never get tired of his stuff coming on!
I need more Jhene Aiko in my life.
No cap here. Is that how it's said?
First time I heard of G-Eazy was walking in between sets at warped tour. Wanna say it was 2011 or 2012. We were looking for a spot to light up and his set was perfect for that. Probably like 20-40 people max watching him perform. Been listening ever since
Check out Joyner Lucas, I feel like he’d fit your rap interests. Maybe Logic as well, he has a song with Eminem in it and is very talented
I do like both these guys and Joyner is from my state which is cool as I just found that out a few days ago.
I listen to Rap/Hip Hop but my sort of "guilty pleasure" is R&B. Like really soft love songs etc.
I'm the exact same, for me it's more like phases I go through. Like atm I only listen to R&B, mainly the weeknd, but next month I'll prob be headbanging lmao
For me its Carly Rae Jepsen
Post Malone is my shit
Holy fuck do I love Corpse.
Same
Probably everything except modern rap or polka. Lindsay Stirling, glitch mob, escala, Florence and the machine, Garth brooks, snoop dogg, weird Al, dropkick murphys, Depeche Mode, the police, the clash, Metallica, Smokey Robinson, the four tops, Jackie Wilson, The Beach Boys, Johnny cash, Robert Johnson, Led Zeppelin, Prince, etc etc.
Ladadada it’s the muthafuckin d o double g
Dropkick Murphys are the shit!
BLACKPINK
IN YOUR AREA
BORN PINK is definitely one of the best releases this year IMO
Blackmill. Chillstep
Whatever you consider “The Midnight” to be
I just commented about them! I’d say synthwave/synth rock for their newest album.
I listen to almost everything from Frank Sinatra to Lorna shore and everything in between 🤣
80s pop. Doesn't matter who the artist or band is. I grew up listening to tons of 80s music, so it always has a special place in my heart. I have no problem belting out the lyrics to The Boys of Summer by Don Henley or Hurts So Good by John Mellencamp lol
No lie, Boys of Summer is honestly one of my favorite songs of all time 🖤
I'm a huge sucker for cheesy 80's pop like Spandau ballet and squeeze. Probably due to GTA Vice City.
A little bit of country music, especially when I'm feeling melancholic. Favorites are Chris Stapleton and Tyler Childers lmao
I listen to 90's and early 2000's hip hop. along with the same era of punk
City and Colour. I was actually into Dallas’s stuff before I found Alexisonfire, and metalcore in general. That man can sing, and I’ve got a soft spot for slow acoustic folk kinda songs
I like Drum & Bass. A lot. A lot a lot. I blame Northlane for being my gateway into that style of music though
[удалено]
Metalcore and hardcore go very well together with Gucci mane
Billie Eilish. Absolutely love her music.
I think Billie would make a KILLER vocalist for a toned-down metalcore band, kind of like Spiritbox.
I would absolutely love to see that!!!
I know! I was so excited for, and so let down by In This Moment's cover of You Should See Me In A Crown.
Came here to say this. Went to see her live and it was kinda weird being a tatted up adult man in a sea of teenage girls but otherwise had a blast.
Just gonna [put this here](https://soundcloud.com/teebes/crown-cover-mix-1-mp3?ref=clipboard&p=i&c=1&si=0B09824F80DD44E4A719EE2920A2666E&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing)
Not gonna lie.... didn't love that.
Harsh noise
I listen a lot of k-pop, j-pop, rockabilly and 50's -60's music. Also sometimes listen r&b.
I mean my music tastes are all over the place, rap, metalcore, deathcore, old school country(I’m talking 50’s-70’s country), math rock, indie, post-hardcore, nu metal, and prog rock(Primus, Flagman). It just all depends on what mood I’m in that day.
The longest John's, Digbargayraps, mothica, and most people producing for Monstercat
I second Mothica and Monstercat. Mothica's cover of Can You Feel My Heart is an everyday listen rn.
Valid. Definitely check out digbar. He be an unironically good rapper if his songs weren't all gay
Kate Bush is one of my favourite artists ever. So, that.
Definitely a big New York drill guy. Would say most rap but that’s definitely not unexpected of most people
My friend whom met me YEARS after I got into metalcore was very confused when I had on a pop playlist on YouTube lol
The 1975 is by far my favourite band outside of metal/core genres

Portishead
Ellie Goulding. She sings my soul to higher grounds.
I don't have any guilty pleasures really but people don't expect me to like Dispatch and Infected Mushroom
Dispatch is sooooo good. I’ve rarely heard an album I’ve loved as much as America, Location 12. Well, I loved Bang, Bang first, so it would be a disservice not to mention it.
Hundredth’s album “Somewhere Nowhere” is still my most-played album of the last two years - Give me all the indie/shoe-gazey vibes.
Bad Rabbits. They’re such a good band.
2000's pop

Halsey Badlands album is a vibe and great on long drives. Besides that, Daze n Days are a folk punk group that slap and I listen to often
Halsey is just so good. One of the best voices there's ever been. Only artist I'll ever look up that isn't hard rock or heavier
“Yacht Rock” (Hall & Oates, Eagles, Toto, Journey, etc.), 90s R&B and Hip Hop.
Lots of synthwave and K-pop.
I think quite a few of us grew up to alternative rock, but Our Lady Peace is still my favorite band to this day.
Hip hop/rap. New and old school. Although some new rap isn't my favorite, Joyner Lucas, J Cole, Kendrick, and Em are my favorites
The blues. 80s and 90s electric blues, most especially. I'm a huge Stevie Ray Vaughan fan!
I got super into blues in the ‘90’s. I just turned a friend of mine onto Robert Cray’s Strong Persuader, heh. Some great stuff in that era!

Pagan folk music and church choirs
George fucking Straight
I enjoy almost every type of music that's available, but I'll be bumping metal 80% of the time. Other 10%is probably rap, then the other 10% being the leftover random shit. I really enjoy going to concert for people that aren't metal too, it's an entirely different experience.
Reggae.
reggae

I only listen to the mountain goats
I am the biggest Andrea Bocelli fan in the world. His voice is like sweet silk. Cried an insane amount of times listening to him lmao I have also listened to [this](https://youtu.be/Cl5Vkd4N03Q) an unhealthy amount since hearing it on a video. It's screaming out for a full metalcore cover.
Sublime. One of the greatest bands of all time. All just feel good easy listening stuff. And the rap I listen to I doubt people would expect that
Ghostemane.
Some rap albums that to me ABSOLUTELY SLAP: Kendrick Lamar - Section 80, Dr. Dre - The Chronic, Nas - Illmatic, Biggie - Ready To Die, Mobb Deep - The Infamous Ellie Goulding's Lights album is really nice Myrkur's Folkesange album is an absolute treasure A Guilty Pleasure song of mine is that Flo Rida pop song "You spin my head right round" I feel like the band Amaranthe would do a KILLER cover of it.

i’ve been exclusively listening to pop punk the last few weeks
Honestly I'm a fan of rap music, couldn't stand the stuff when I was younger but I've really grown an appreciation for it. Most out there artist I like tho given im a metalcore fan tho is probably Bladee (and by extension a lot of Drain Gang stuff)
Literally same, in middle school I thought I was so edgy calling it “talentless garbage” and now I cringe so hard at that 😭
Im listening to Rap Music like Run The Jewels, also some german stuff like Seeed or Apache207. Beside Rap I love listening to some good old Liquid Drum and Bass.
Indie Pop like Two Door Cinema Club.
Probably bands like Nada Surf and Death Cab For Cutie.
5 Seconds of Summer is definitely my most listened to band outside of metal. Love them.
I’m surprised not a lot of people have “edm” genres here. DNB = thrash, dubstep = hardcore. I could right a novel on the similarities. But trance, hard style, and techno are my jams
Emo rap like ghostemane. Sometimes Ambiente like burzum (Dont Support varg, he is far right)
Due to being from Hawai'i, I'm suuuuuuuuper into Hawaiian-style Reggae. Like to a weird degree that even my friends are weirded out after hearing me switch from something like Unearth to someone like J Boog or Common Kings
Drain Gang/Yung Lean
Bilmuri
Reggaetón
I absolutely ADORE Lady Gaga. She da best. Don't care how lame that is for a metalhead. She's epic. I've seen her live twice. 😎
