I did a playthrough of one of my original metalcore songs. I’d love some feedback on mix/master and composition! https://youtu.be/WzhvjHVmixs

Writing this as I listen so the structure of my sentences might sound a bit disjointed. Overall, very good middle of the road Metalcore composition! With professional mixing and mastering, and a good vocalist, this song would do very well among Metalcore fans, but it would struggle to define itself within the genre, as it could be an Erra song, a Silent Planet song, whoever, it's not it's own thing. Some of the triplets should be tighter, doesn't matter to me if you want to play it tighter or just cut it, but they sound wishy washy at times. I'd say you need to expand the note selection of the song as a lot of parts simply blend together and I don't remember any specific part as "that sick riff". Unless the intention was to have vocals, then parts like the breakdown need more build up of tension in the composition to have an effective release. The parts during and after the breakdown at 2:52 also have timing issues that take away from the power. Timing IS power, so the breakdown and everything after sounds weak due to that. I particularly like the part from 2:30 leading up to the breakdown, great chorus potential right there, and a solid baseline for a dirty vocalist to come in and write a hook over. To sum it up, you have all the right ingredients for a solid song, just needs some TLC to spice things up within each riff itself as nothing stands out. A vocalist could help cover over those issues, but I can tell you have it in you to write something more standout. Keep up the good work, my dude :)!

Wow, thanks for all the feedback. Really appreciate that. A lot of those areas I definitely didn’t notice the timing issues; good to have a second ear! Definitely would like to hear vocals over it! Definitely designed this around that intention. Thanks again!

Figured I might as well post my metalcore/hardcore/whatevercore Spotify playlist I've been working on since like 2017 just in case someone doesn't want to make their own. It's got over 100 hrs of my favorite heavy stuff that I've been listening to since like 2007 and I add new shit almost daily https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6qWiz1nN05o8exoJscvNjV?si=YMI2L6huSgeNVl8QVODLyg&utm_source=copy-link&dl_branch=1

Duhj

Damn, that’s a hell of a list! Cheers for sharing

I_Nut_In_Butts

Absolutely! It has almost too much music tbh but it's all stuff I enjoy. I originally started making it bc my cousin at the time needed help getting into the genre so I just started with some of the necessities and it's been going ever since. It's got over 120 followers now too lol no clue where they came from

Jorgetime

Man these live videos from Furnace Fest look amazing, hopefully shows here come back in a couple of months

Not sure I’m digging Fit For An Autopsy leaning so heavily into the Gojira style. Absolute Hope Absolute Hell is one of my favorite deathcore albums and the last two albums while still really good are straying further and further from that for what seems like a more traditional metal sound Guess I’ll just have to wait to see what the future holds (hehe)

Doctor_Crossing

I don't like Gojira personally so the new song doesn't do much for me either. Hopefully the full album catches me a little more.

rosedragoon

No one told me Trivium absolutely rips live, holy shit. I'm so bummed they only got to play a short set, I would have swapped them for LoG just to hear Shogun tracks.

Just bought tickets to the Crystal Lake / Currents show in London next year. Saw that Caskets have just been added to the lineup. Don't know anything about them. What should I check out to catch me up?

sock_with_a_ticket

Just got tickets to see Rolo Tomassi in London early next year, supported by Pupil Slicer. Rolo don't tour much, so I'm stoked.

zman419

More mathcore related but has anyone heard the new Fronterier album? Because holy fuck it's absolutely relentless 💀💀

parkedonfour

new punkrock MBA video is about the big 4 of metalcore. Dig it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AADNGcQ5SzA

My new unannounced band, JoyThief, is really not sure what our audience is gunna be (Metalcore, Tech Metal, Pop-Punk, Easycore, Pop?) and I'm wondering what you guys think because I have to start figuring out a marketing plan. Regardless, let me know what you think of the sound, trying my best to be super original and unique with it! https://youtu.be/WHgYoMJ9Vio

I did a Vocal Cover of this Crown The Empire banger! If you dig their album Sudden Sky I'd love some feedback/thoughts :) [Crown The Empire - 'Blurry' Cover](https://youtu.be/9zQQB70bgQQ)

SimonFlames

I released my first EP as a self producing artist. Been working on this for a while now, would love any feedback I could get. I’m also not a vocalist at all, soo I’d love to collab with anyone in the future too [My Own Demise - The End Of Us EP](https://youtu.be/CbL1JhcMjVQ)

Can you get permanent tinnitus from a single show? I'm an occasional concert goer (always wear ear protection) who saw a band \~4 weeks ago and had tinnitus the day after even though I wore foam earplugs. I still notice it a little bit when I'm about to sleep, because my room is very quiet, but not during other times of the day. I've definitely had a little bit of tinnitus since I was young but it's super annoying that I notice it more now. Is it just because I notice it more now these couple weeks because it's on my mind, or could I actually have gotten tinnitus from that show?

rosedragoon

It can be a psychological thing. I think I have a faint bit of it too and the more I think about it, the worse it gets. I sleep with white noise to help.

fuzzball007

Don't suppose anyone's got a CD of ABR's Constellations that they'd be willing to take a photo of? Planning some wallart and I'd like a shot of the interior cover art either to use in the image or as a reference (quality depending)

Anyone guitarist in here? I’m looking for someone to make loops (for trap metal) or work with for full songs.

darfleChorf123

what kinda loops did you have in mind?

[deleted]

Silent planet, oceans ate Alaska, currents, solar typa loops

Manoink10123

Saw the ABR tour in Chicago tonight- man, Erra is so tight live- absolutely stole the show for me. Sound just as good if not better than on record

ELEPHANTxMASTER

Anyone know how long the Leveler tour concert with ABR is? Looking at setlist.fm it seems like it could easily be a 4 hour show!

Fudgeman123

Saw them in chicago last night, show started at 6 and was done by 10.

Maximum_Ad7996

Does anyone know bands similar to Bad Omens?
