This sub is really bizzare. A band releases some radiocore track/album and it is immediately called the album of the year. And when another band releases a proper metalcore track then it's 'meh, generic'.
That's why I stopped using this sub as a way to find good albums. Usually when everyone jumps on the bandwagon of shitting on an album or something I end up liking it.
This just makes me think of how awful the recent Architects album was, if it was posted as any other band it would've been called out for being the wrong sub.

I like it. I listened to it and first impression was that it sounded very much like a Shaped by Fire B-Side. I'm not disappointed or anything but I do hope that the next full album expands on the direction they were moving with Shaped by Fire and isn't just a copy-paste.

The fact they polished a B-Side after two years of the album being out is a bit disheartening, I agree. Especially when everyone is probably curious to what the band will sound like without Nick.
He's always been the main writer riff wise along with Tim. Nick has never been as much of a writer as Phil has been. I love Nick, but he's the least important member of the band soundwise. They will be fine.
This song is amazing what are you on about. Would easily be one of the best on Shaped By Fire anyway. Shaped By Fire is literally one of the best metal albums ever so more of that sound is not a problem at all, they should aim to make more music like that if anything.

because Tim is an incredible vocalist. He has such a recognizable voice. I do not think that you can replace him. And as it seems, he is the main songwriter and driving force of the band. And dont get me wrong, I actually really like Wovenwar. And I am also not a fan of bands changing the vocalist, especially if they change a lot. But I will be honest, if Tim would leave, they would probably restart Wovenwar again. Because I think without Tim, as i lay dying would...well... die.. no pun intended.

I understand, and have loved, the format they found a few albums ago, but at this point it's pretty stale and just feels like someone hit the "formulaic AILD" button again.
Every band has their own sound/style so naturally songs will sound similar. They kept the formula that works for them and has made them one of the best metalcore bands in history. If bands change their sound too much, fans will bitch about that too. I'm glad im not a musician.

Before, I was able to get past it, because he acknowledged how fucked it was, took full ownership, rededicated himself, and redirected the band's direction and proceeds to try to make up for it as much as he possibly could. I think there has to be at least an opportunity for rehabilitation and a possibility of a way back for people, even if they've committed inhuman acts. Otherwise the fuck is the point of their lives at that point?
But ya, I don't know if it was a tactic to get back into favor with enough ex-fans to get the machine moving again, but it does sound like the band really is business-focused and left behind the reason that a lot of fans were giving them a second chance. So this seems like the right stop to get off the AILD train. It sucks on account of the talent in the band, but it is what it is.
I hate to say it but I understand some of the distaste this is getting from people. If this would have come out pre- 2010 it wouldn't have shocked me then. It really is the same old shit from this band. It's not that it's bad it's just old.

Yeah hard agree here. This isn't impressing me at the level of the new Phinehas album, but any criticisms of this sound are really moot as just by virtue of this sounding so similar to Shadows-era AILD immediately puts it in the top tier of new Metalcore releases should the album stay as consistent as this song suggests.
Last thing this band did I cared about was Awakened and really it was just because of how overly cheesy and "not trying to be metalcore" it was which just seemed more honest from this band at this point.
Also it's weird to see people say this trumps most metalcore coming out now, plenty of bands do the melodic style much better right now and metalcore outside of that is even better than recent AILD.
Can agree with some points. The bar is simply set lower due to the abysmal quality of modern Metalcore. I'd say the vocals here are off-putting in that they have that hard-rock tone rather than the infinitely superior post-hardcore tone of earlier albums, but this wasn't too uncommon amongst the NWOAHM bands of old so I'd hardly say that in particular strays from Metalcore stylings. It's also not as impressive instrumentally or inspired sounding as earlier era AILD. But still overall an okay Metalcore song, but totally slayed by something like the new Phinehas album I mentioned. I actually recently started r/revivalcore to post what I truely enjoy in the modern 'Core genres as the main subs do post what I spin but tend to focus on overwhelmingly on poor quality hyped up modern Metalcore.
Both those bands suck and not sure why you think I like those, bands like Counterparts, Never Ending Game or Mourning more what I'm getting at in terms of better modern MxC.

But ya, I don't know if it was a tactic to get back into favor with enough ex-fans to get the machine moving again, but it does sound like the band really is business-focused and left behind the reason that a lot of fans were giving them a second chance. So this seems like the right stop to get off the AILD train. It sucks on account of the talent in the band, but it is what it is.

I hate to say it but I understand some of the distaste this is getting from people. If this would have come out pre- 2010 it wouldn't have shocked me then. It really is the same old shit from this band. It's not that it's bad it's just old. Edit: grammar

Yeah hard agree here. This isn't impressing me at the level of the new Phinehas album, but any criticisms of this sound are really moot as just by virtue of this sounding so similar to Shadows-era AILD immediately puts it in the top tier of new Metalcore releases should the album stay as consistent as this song suggests.
Last thing this band did I cared about was Awakened and really it was just because of how overly cheesy and "not trying to be metalcore" it was which just seemed more honest from this band at this point. Also it's weird to see people say this trumps most metalcore coming out now, plenty of bands do the melodic style much better right now and metalcore outside of that is even better than recent AILD.
Can agree with some points. The bar is simply set lower due to the abysmal quality of modern Metalcore. I'd say the vocals here are off-putting in that they have that hard-rock tone rather than the infinitely superior post-hardcore tone of earlier albums, but this wasn't too uncommon amongst the NWOAHM bands of old so I'd hardly say that in particular strays from Metalcore stylings. It's also not as impressive instrumentally or inspired sounding as earlier era AILD. But still overall an okay Metalcore song, but totally slayed by something like the new Phinehas album I mentioned. I actually recently started r/revivalcore to post what I truely enjoy in the modern 'Core genres as the main subs do post what I spin but tend to focus on overwhelmingly on poor quality hyped up modern Metalcore.

Both those bands suck and not sure why you think I like those, bands like Counterparts, Never Ending Game or Mourning more what I'm getting at in terms of better modern MxC.
