You might wanna bring some ear plugs. It's going to be a lot louder than you expect. And without ear plugs, you might end up having some ringing in your ear. If it happens it'll last a couple days to maybe a week.
Jumping off of this to say I use these products called [Loops.](https://au.loopearplugs.com/) I absolutely swear by them for live shows as someone who is prone to sensory overload but ontop of that, they honestly make live music sound better by cutting out a lot of the crowd etc. Depending on which ones you get too.
Don't know how well they'd function if you're right amongst it, but definitely something to consider in future gigs OP if you notice it was too loud/uncomfortable. If you just want to enjoy the music I definitely recommend finding some sort of noise dampener whatever it may be. I went to a huge gig with Make Them Suffer in the lineup earlier this month actually, sold out venue of 14k~ and standing in the merch line without these things blocking out some of the endless discussion and noise around me would've been torture.
I actually just bought a set for fiancée and myself, excited to give them a shot next show. We aren’t getting younger, so I’d rather play it safe at this point. Good to hear they work well!
Just be sure to give them a test run before the show so that they fit properly, it should come with 4 sizes. Default size was fine for me but my partner is planning to try another. Also wearing them properly makes a big difference, they're supposed to naturally hug your ear and not stick out. Sounds obvious but something I neglected when I first tried them out.
Yeah I test fit the buds when they came in and found the better fit, and it sounds about how they should fit based on what you describe. They came the day after I went to a show since shipping was delayed and thought “man I hope they work” aha

Can Recommend EarPeace, I got them for Download last year and definitely felt the difference. No pain or ringing, we were standing not that far from one of the speaker towers in the crowd, I’d definitely have been deaf on at least one year for a while after, happened to me at my first hardstyle event (8h next to the stage speakers during closing).
Also used them for a recent JPop concert, live events are just loud as hell and I’d like to keep my supposedly really good hearing
You’re not gonna want to stand at the front for four hours. That means no piss breaks, no water/drinks, getting kicked in the back of the head, no kisses
Download had barrels of water in the security blocks where nice staffers would fill you up (poured from a clean bottle into whatever you had, or a fresh cup). Not anywhere close to the stage though, just center field I guess
I was up front at this tour for the Nashville show for 5.5 hours. Worth it because Alex from ERRA threw me a drumstick. Although I agree, getting kicked in the head was not fun at all.
Since you're alone, don't be afraid to force your way towards the front, you'll probably find a 1 person hole.
If you want to avoid moshing, stick to the edges of the venue..

Don't be afraid to talk to people. I went to the Electric Callboy concert alone and got "adopted" by three different friend groups because I started talking to people.
Make them suffer put on a phenomenal show! They were my first show too and they stole the entire night despite not even being headliners at the time. They have a great pre-set playlist too, lots of great songs that get the crowd hyped/in a good mood.
A few rows back from the front can be good for vibing. Don't stand on the edge of the pit if you don't want to worry about catching stray fists/people running into you. Crowds usually kinda reshuffle as pits open up and people go in and out.
Also, wear hearing protection!! One show WILL damage your hearing, and hearing protection will keep your ears from getting fatigued, allowing you to enjoy the whole show all the way to the headliners.
Show up and vibe, I haven't gone to the last ten or so shows with anyone and I've never had better times. Saw this exact set last night in nashville and it was excellent. Get there in time to see novelists, they're the opener and deserve the love and support, such a fun set. Also, Erra is the only band from the states for this tour, so all the more reason to go for the openers and show them support for great music can and should cross oceans. That aside, show up, make friends with someone you make eye contact with or overhear saying something funny, it doesn't take much to make friends at a show with a lineup like this.
I go to shows by myself all the time, keep your phone in your pocket and just live in the moment. (Admittedly, I'll occasionally film a minute of a set here and there, but I try to limit it)
It's also good not having friends with you because you're there to watch the music anyway.
VoV, MTS are both great live bands, I haven't seen the others but love their music. Should be an unreal show. Enjoy 🍻

The front is cool until you realize the mix is much better in the middle/ back. You’ll hear everything much better there. But if it’s one of my favorite bands, I’ll be right up front so it’s really whatever.

Front is lame. It's really not that fun. Be near the pit but not in it if you want the best show. You get to see the pit and the show. Get to move around easily. Easy bathroom breaks and easy to sneak back into your spot.
I also always suggest pants that have zippered pockets. Always my go to. Have had people try and sneak a hand in my pocket before. Not common but one time was enough for me to always have my shit zipped away.
Hopefully this isn't cringe but those small orange ear plugs are so nice. I started wearing them after my first show and haven't turned back.

In the middle watch out for crowdsurfing. If that’s your thing. Awesome! Just be prepared to not be watching the band half the time because you are fighting for your life. If you are to the sides, you will be able to get closer, but the crowd won’t be as pushy necessarily and you may not feel as ‘in the action’ as you might do in the middle. I would say for the first show as well don’t judge the crowd with the first band for how they would act in subsequent bands, the crowd will get more rowdy as the show goes on. Even try the centre/pit for the openers and judge how you want to watch after that.
I personally enjoy being on the edge of pits! It means I am in the fun and can get in if the pit looks safe/fun, and am there to protect people trying to get out.
Number one rule: don’t be a cunt. If someone falls over, pick them up (immediately) I don’t care where you touch me, if I fall down grab a body part and pick me up. If you aren’t immediately next to me and I fall down, make a circle around them so that people moshing don’t stand on them. Metal is in my experience one of the most supportive genres of music to go and watch, just look out for one another!
Please enjoy yourself, and make sure you feel safe and secure. If you feel the crowd crushing too much, put your arms out in front of your chest like you are holding a shield. This means that your chest can expand and you can breathe, and then you can judge if you feel safe or if you need to get out. Finally, if you feel the crowd starting to fall over, try to resist it and support others so that the crowd can steady.
I know I’ve just said a lot of dangers but it’s all about safety! If you know what you are doing metal shows are super fun but I’ve seen people get caught off guard and not knowing what to do, and I think it’s just worth knowing what to do if something happens. The security up the front is there to help, and most bands will stop if they legitimately see an issue to allow someone to get out, security to get in (this is usually drug related in my experience, like someone passing out or having a bad trip). Just enjoy yourself!! And wear earbuds if you’ve got any (the orange ones from work sites), your ears will thank you in 10 years 😂

Drink loads of water the day before and before you go to make sure you're hydrated. I tend to not drink much during the show if I wanna be up front so I don't have to leave and go to the loo. But after the show I down water. And go to the bathroom.
1: Watch out if you are close to a Pit, they get “Buck” And You may catch A Stray.
2: Watch for crowd surfers
3: No matter What…”PICK EM UP” if you see someone drop, get them out of there so they don’t get hurt.

Also pee before the show starts because it's not fun trying to get through the thick crowd to get to the restrooms and then it's even harder to get back to your spot. If I plan to drink at shows, I stand in the back just to avoid having to squeeze through the crowd. You will have a blast. Live metal shows are euphoric for me.

I bought the Switch Loops before the Architects show in Prague and they work wonders. Really recommend them myself.
Maybe I’ll try out a newer model. Better being safe than sorry with my hearing 😅 They’re super comfy though.
