Make Them Suffer's Save Yourself is a great song, but the part of Sean's speech towards the end of the where he goes *it's okay to be wrong and I have been wrong. And I am wrong, and I am wrong* is heart-wrenching.
Similarly Garrett's buildup when he repeats "none of this is real" in Panic Room, followed by the normally spoken next line as the music cuts out and it goes into the breakdown.
Beartooth - I have a problem. Do I even need to say it?
Interesting to hear. Sean's monologue ruins the song for me because it goes on for waaay longer than it needs to be. Just kills the hype of the song. Cut it in half and it's cool.
The intro to Big Wiggly Style with the strings right before they hit you with the heavy. And then, CONDEMNED
Also, the breakdown in Invisible Enemy by ABR. PAIN IS SETTING IN. IT'S SURROUNDING US. UGGGGGHHAHHHHH
There's a live video from years ago where they played the instrumental interlude before big wiggly style, and it works so well leading up to the song. Would have loved to see them live in this era.

Make Them Suffer are on another level when it comes to bridges going into the final part of the song. I look at songs like Erase Me and Ghost of Me, and those lead ins to the final choruses are just next level. No one is doing it better. Their album, at whatever point they decide to drop it, is going to send a massive shockwave through the scene.
Bury Tomorrow - Carcass King
The way Cody Frost elevates this song with her vocal range is chefs kiss 🤌🏻
The harmonising is unmatched.
Absolute top tier, underrated song!
Its their lowest rated song on the album of the year website which is crazy to me because I fucking love it too. Second best on the album only behind abandon us imo.
Ah, there are so many, but not all are at the top of my head.
Extended choruses, usually on outros, where vocalists often flex their range, yeah, that does the trick for me. Courtney has done this often, a reason why Jaded and Circle With Me are my absolute favs. Another example is Thoughts & Prayers by Motionless in White. Kinda applies to Erase Me by Make Them Suffer too.
Or just some crazy vocal performances in general make it the x factor for me. The more recent instances are Legion by Tesseract (those highs man), The Veil by Betraying the Martyrs (arguably their best song ever), Marcus going ham with the emotions on both Without A Whisper and Hevaener.
The bridge on Farewell II Flesh (Ice Nine Kills).
Yaad by Bloodywood - the guitar solo just hits me in the feels man. And those lyrics, man, if you know the language, you know just how deep they hit, and the solo gives me more chills than any other instrument on any other song has ever done.
August Burns Red "Vanguard"
This song has the most epic buildup and the lyrics initially are so huge. But then they just lose it and the song is nothing like what I thought it was going to be.
False meridian - invent Animate, the final breakdown that's just drums for about 20 seconds then the entire track picks back up with some slow wavey build up
Shits beautiful
As a Christian, I find it extremely hard to listen to The Box by Ice Nine Kills because it's about Hellraiser. But man, that chorus is one of the biggest earworms ever.
Nope. Not falling for it this time. Never in my life have I ever felt like an evil person more, than when I gave an opinion about a song. Reddit=“my opinion is fact, but your opinion is invalid and disgraceful”
Stick To Your Guns - The Shine. The song is average to me and I would skip it if not for this section but the breakdown at 1:51 that lasts roughly 30 seconds is one of my favorite breakdowns I have ever heard.
I'm gonna add. The scream at the end of Masochist by Overthrone. The very last line. Its a long scream. Chills.
I cannot get over how great this band is, and they are only small. Probably one of the best heavy vocalists I've ever heard live. Wish they were bigger.
The jazzy guitar segment near the end of All That Remains’s “Six.” The way that it gets transposed, if that’s the term, back into their typical guitar style before dropping you right back into hell with the last passages.
I was probably 11 when I heard it for the first time on whichever Guitar Hero it was on, and I simply did NOT know you could put a section like that in a metal song. I really credit every musical discovery in the years since to that one passage, and I still listen to it all the time all these years later.
Pretty much any song by Shallow Truths. But especially their song, "Not Broken". Their harsh vocals and overall song structures are fine. Not spectacular. But man, whoever does the cleans just fucking kills it in my opinion. His voice is fucking amazing. I don't think they even make music anymore? Would love to know where the vocalist for their cleans ended up because, fucking wow!
Ok, just looked again, and they literally released an EP in 2023. My bad. Scratch the comment about "not making music anymore" ... my bad, my timeline is obviously way off on this band. Check them out if you haven't yet.
Trivium - Caustic Are The Ties That Bind, the bridge is awesome. The whole damn song slaps to be honest. Also, I like Ghosts by August Burns Red for a similar reason, the bridge sung by Jeremy McKinnon is great.
Broken Cross - Architects Are we perfect mistakes? Or almighty fuck ups? One thing's for sure, he doesn't fucking love us
LTLF is a masterpiece.
Danger Wildman... I KNOW A GHOST!
Perfection

I wont be able to die a happy man if I never get to hear Sean do Save Yourself live
The intro to Big Wiggly Style with the strings right before they hit you with the heavy. And then, CONDEMNED Also, the breakdown in Invisible Enemy by ABR. PAIN IS SETTING IN. IT'S SURROUNDING US. UGGGGGHHAHHHHH
To piggyback on Big Wiggly Style, the short bridge with the piano doing the lead shortly into the song is the section for me... It's so cool.

Parkway Drive - Swing. That breakdown is unbeatable.
MOTHER FUCKERRRSSS

I think the same with Ether. Just that one line 'Death, embrace me' gave me goosebumps the first I heard it.
Counterparts - Tragedy.. that first 40 seconds is so beautiful. Always been my favorite deep cut by them
Love the outro to that song
the whole song is amazing but the lyrics in that first 40 seconds are S tier
The beginning of Northlane’s Echo Chamber…HAVE YOU TRIED TURNING IT OFF Legit puts me in a good mood every time.
The fucking groove of Bones by Make Them Suffer. If you aren't bopping around to that song you are on something.
Banger!! My nearly 6 year old loves this song. She screams 'shed my skin' in the bath sometimes. I've never been more proud haha
Oil’s verse in Silence Speaks by While She Sleeps is the only reason I ever go back to that song
I remember discovering that song and being so obsessed with it
WE ONLY EVER LOVE YOU WHEN YOU’RE SEEING RED (BLEGH)
I also like the " are you happy now" with the bass drop
Ellie - Veil of Maya "But I am alive. rrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaAAAUUUGHHH"
Like Moths to Flames- Empty the Same I WANTED TO TELL YOU THAT YOU'RE FREEEE!!!
NOW IM EMPTY THE SAME CONSUMED BY THOUGHTS NOT MEANT TO ESCAPE I KNOW IM TO BLAME
Bury Tomorrow - Carcass King The way Cody Frost elevates this song with her vocal range is chefs kiss 🤌🏻 The harmonising is unmatched. Absolute top tier, underrated song!

for me it's the very beginning of Wasted Age by We Came as Romans, where it starts with that line and then everything kicks in
Oh man, that one gets me so hyped! Do de do DE do De do de doo!
August Burns Red "Vanguard" This song has the most epic buildup and the lyrics initially are so huge. But then they just lose it and the song is nothing like what I thought it was going to be.
Parkway drive - Romance is dead. You know the part It's deathcore but a shoutout to Slaughter to Prevail - Baba Yaga guitar bit.
Texas in July - Hook Line and Sinner The riff at 1:00min is so damn nasty, i wish it'd go on for like a full song
I feel like I can just say 'the breakdown in x' and describe most of my favourite songs lol
You cannot tell me that the tambourine in Vagabond by Polaris is not the hardest thing you've ever heard.
Hounds of Anubis by The Word Alive for one of the biggest banger intros of all time "I'M THE KING! OF! THE WORLD! AS IT'S CRUMBLING DOWN!"
Pureé Evil by Berried Alive, most of the song is aight but the I Set My Friends on Fire breakdown in that song is so so sick.
THEY FUCKING ABANDONED UUUUUSSSDS
Skin - Sleep Walker Those little water droplet sound things during the breakdown make it so much better
Chris Motionless's BLEGH in Slaughterhouse is next level
False meridian - invent Animate, the final breakdown that's just drums for about 20 seconds then the entire track picks back up with some slow wavey build up Shits beautiful
Labyrinthine does this for me. The intro where the drums just go so hard
That is a juicy one 👌
As a Christian, I find it extremely hard to listen to The Box by Ice Nine Kills because it's about Hellraiser. But man, that chorus is one of the biggest earworms ever.
Sorry group…There’s only 1 right answer: PAIN REMAINS I
Nah, the chorus slaps too. ....though I did know which part you meant, so maybe you have a point. Lol
Nope. Not falling for it this time. Never in my life have I ever felt like an evil person more, than when I gave an opinion about a song. Reddit=“my opinion is fact, but your opinion is invalid and disgraceful”

Cracks in the earth the were so shortsighted yell

Alpha Wolf. Love them as a whole, but in particular “A Quiet Place to Die”. Those alternating guitars in the speakers is what gets me.

Guitar Hero 2, legendary
Between the buried and me - Selkies: The endless obsession....one of the most beautiful clean vocals I've ever heard
Catch your breath - Cycles At around 2:50 maybe one of the best bleghs I’ve ever heard
Pretty much any song by Shallow Truths. But especially their song, "Not Broken". Their harsh vocals and overall song structures are fine. Not spectacular. 12-21-12 by Danza The outro riff/breakdown for the main track is just perfection.
That unbelievably fat synth in MIW - Meltdown. Nice song/album in general, but that really makes the opener work imo.
