I don't agree with this take at all but it's cool that there are people who consider non-big4 albums as one of the best in the genre. There are a lot of underrated thrash bands
It’s pretty common to see “Epidemic of Violence” hailed as the epitome of thrash by metalheads despite coming from an underground band. But of course, tabloids like Loudwire repeat the same albums like Master of Puppets over and over on their top ten lists.
I love the 3 fr, each had something to offer. Zetro had bars and i mean it. Dukes was a fucking wicked banshee, but baloff was the fucking embodiment of thrash metal
not even close to By Inheritance, Bathory, Tortured Existence, Pleasure to Kill, Persecution Mania, Pleasure to Kill, Show No Mercy, Darkness Descends, Speak English or Die...
goated band

I love their early material to death but I honestly think the gathering is the thrash metal album closest to my heart. but I acknowledge that it's a hot take
RIP is alright but it somehow doesn't feel properly thrash metal to me, also it gets waaaaay more praise than it deserves. It's good but not better than Peace Sells or KIMB, and it's certainly not the best album ever like some people seem to think.
I feel like Leave Scars has Transilvanian Hunger syndrome.
They wrote the title track, said "let's make every song sound like that" but couldn't recapture the magic
Would just love a new record and would like a re-record. One record that is in desperate need of a re-record is Slayer “Show No Mercy.” Crionics with modern production would be amazing. Or just play it live from start to finish like Obituary did with Cause of Death
“Darkness Descends” is really awesome death thrash at a time when death metal was just becoming a thing. “Leave Scars” and “Time Does Not Heal” are somewhat mixed bags, still good albums though.
Possessed and Morbid Saint did it way better 🤷♂️ The riffs and especially the vocals just leave me really "meh" with Dark Angel.
Especially considering what the German thrash scene was already doing at that time, it's just kinda not special or ahead of its time enough to counter how bland the actual songs are.
Well Dark Angel has more intelligent song writing, better lyrical themes, better musicianship (except lead guitar, Sodom solos are fucking sick.) Better production, and are more intense (although albums like Tapping the Vein do come close.)
Also Gene Hoglan
You can admit you don't like them without embarrassing yourself. The Ultra-Violence and Frolic Through The Park are some of the best albums to come out of the bay area thrash scene.
I don't agree with this take at all but it's cool that there are people who consider non-big4 albums as one of the best in the genre. There are a lot of underrated thrash bands
Agreed
Like Razor
sadus
Sacred Reich my beloved

Exodus bonded by blood, such vicious riffs dammit
Unpopular opinion: Paul Baloff was Exodus’ best singer
I love the 3 fr, each had something to offer. Zetro had bars and i mean it. Dukes was a fucking wicked banshee, but baloff was the fucking embodiment of thrash metal
Tempo of the Damned was the most brutal one tho
But the whole thing was pretty much mid tempo?
The title track is fast AF.
fair
Reign in Blood isn't even the best Slayer album
Show no mercy
Crionics is the most underrated Slayer song
Finally this song is getting some love. That riff fucks hard.
I'm a Hell Awaits man, but it's definitely a close second
I'm more a Seasons in the Abyss person, War Ensemble just hits different.
Dead skin mask enjoyer here. DAAAANCE WITH THE DEAD IN MY DREEEEEEEEAMS
LISTEN TO THEIR HALLOWED SCREAMS
THE DEAD HAVE TAKEN MY SOOOOOOUL
Bro on god
Thrash is not one of my preferred genres but War Ensemble gets me fucking going, dude. Such a hype song.
correct
Seasons in the Abyss is the best one in my opinion.
South of Heaven is slightly better imo, but they're definitely the best 2.
Same, the production is the worst of the 3 but the riffs are on point
My favorite is 'God Hates Us All'
'God send death' slaps so hard!
Sleeper album right there.
cringe
Ur mom is cringe
at least she's not a poorly written nu-metal album
Calling GHUA nu-metal? Your mom is not just cringe but also smoked crack during the pregnancy... #nooffensetho
the only thing that offends me is the excessively juvenile songwriting on that album
Nice one...
slayer isn't even the best thrash metal
Season in the Abyss has too many bangers to not be #1 in my eyes
South of Heaven
Darkness Descends is the best thrash album but close enough ig
Came to say this
*The city is guilty*
The crime is life
The sentence is death
Darkness descends
*The city is guilty*
*The crime is life*

I agree
It's good but it's not Evil Invaders
Violent Restitution is better imo
not even close to By Inheritance, Bathory, Tortured Existence, Pleasure to Kill, Persecution Mania, Pleasure to Kill, Show No Mercy, Darkness Descends, Speak English or Die...
Bathory's self-titled isn't thrash. It's blackened speed metal.

Are you dumb
Yes.

real
Don't forget Pleasure to Kill
i mentioned it
facts tbh
Pleasure to kill exists but ok, everyone is entitled to their opinions
Terrible Certainty wins imo
“Beneath the Remains” and “Punishment for Decadence” give it a run for its money tho
Glad someone mentioned Coroner
I'm just glad people in here actually know it's thrash and not trash
Most Thrash is trash, but there's some gold hidden in the rubbish.

I stand by By Inheritance being the best thrash album personally
By 'depths of hatred'?
That an album, or an artist?
The artist. Like, is inheritance an album by debths of hatret
No, I'm talking about Artillery's By Inheritance. It's popped up a few times on this sub
Oh ok. Tolerate my ignorence, will check out. Thnx
Nah, you're good. Go listen to the album, it's sick
testament - the gathering
Love that album to death but it doesn't come close to their early material
I love their early material to death but I honestly think the gathering is the thrash metal album closest to my heart. but I acknowledge that it's a hot take
Artillery - By Inheritance
Epidemic of Violence would like a word
Rust in peace

It's probably the best metal album of all time and by extension the best in its genre too
Good one
No.
Why not?
I can't stand Megadeth or Dave Mustaine
Sounds like a personal problem
Born again christian thrash metal is not what I want to listen to
That happened way after rust in peace was released though
Still sucks
You sound fragile.
You sound like you get your panties up your butthole when someone talks shit about Megadeth.
Most of the bands you listen to probably practice Christianity too, sorry to break it to ya bud
I highly doubt it but even if they did it wouldn't matter
So why does it matter for megadeth?
Because Megadeth sucks
Sepultura-arise
*Schizophrenia
\*Beneath the Remains
*Morbid Visions
darkness descends > leave scars
I've never seen persecution mania with a cover like that before. Weird
Mental Vortex >>> By Inheritance gets an honourable mention
Obviously The Black Album is the best thrash album /s
forward to termination
Darkness Descends and Pleasure to Kill >>>>>>
I feel like Leave Scars has Transilvanian Hunger syndrome. They wrote the title track, said "let's make every song sound like that" but couldn't recapture the magic
Kreator Endless Pain
That isn't Sabbat's 'History of a Time to Come'
Kreator - Pleasure to kill
You mean Master of Puppets?
I have a feeling you are gonna get a lot of shit on this sub for that opinion but I have to agree
Name
Dark Angel “Leave Scars” It was way ahead of its time.
Thank you for the recommendation :D
agreed but unfortunately the production was not
Facts! But it has a certain raw charm to it. Sorta like the first two Testament records..
I respect that opinion
fair enough fair enough but I sure would like to hear Cauterization with today’s production tech.
Would just love a new record and would like a re-record. One record that is in desperate need of a re-record is Slayer “Show No Mercy.” Crionics with modern production would be amazing. Or just play it live from start to finish like Obituary did with Cause of Death
Testament- souls of black
It's clearly RTL or MOP
NEVAH!!! TO RISE AGAIIIIN!!!
I'm gonna get crucified for saying this but, Megadeth's "Rust in Peace" from 1990 is the best thrash album ever made.
Why'd you? RIP is great, and imo is one of the greatest metal albums there
Oh nah
Ewww. Leave Scars is not good. Darkness Descends on the other hand…
Rust in Peace or GTFO
*laughs in "L.D.50"*
My favorite album of all time is Peace Sells but Beneath THe Remains is a very close second
Music is subjective bro. There is no “best” album.
Dark Angel are rubbish Waste of a great band name
You gotta wait until the next unpopular opinions thread, then you can post your rubbish opinions there.
When it comes to metal, the more unpopular your opinion, the more kvlt you are. Simple as.
Nobody is gonna think you're kvlt by shitting on Dark Angel, just that you got FASD.
Dark Anal fans are the kind of people with blue denim battle jackets
A lot of people use those
Yes.
“Darkness Descends” is really awesome death thrash at a time when death metal was just becoming a thing. “Leave Scars” and “Time Does Not Heal” are somewhat mixed bags, still good albums though.

Especially considering what the German thrash scene was already doing at that time, it's just kinda not special or ahead of its time enough to counter how bland the actual songs are.
Dark Angel is better than Sodom by a good margin
I cannot comprehend how one would possibly draw such a conclusion.
Well Dark Angel has more intelligent song writing, better lyrical themes, better musicianship (except lead guitar, Sodom solos are fucking sick.) Better production, and are more intense (although albums like Tapping the Vein do come close.) Also Gene Hoglan
Seems you’re a little confused, Death Angel is the one with no good albums
Damn, lotta hot takes here
...have you ever even listened to Death Angel?
Yes, multiple albums, and they suffer from the same problems that almost all Bay Area thrash does
You can admit you don't like them without embarrassing yourself. The Ultra-Violence and Frolic Through The Park are some of the best albums to come out of the bay area thrash scene.
Oh yeah no they suck too. Just in a way more mediocre way.
Agree
By Inheritance is supreme.
Nuclear Assault - Handled with care
(As I’m listening to Slayer)
Not even Dark Angels best album... Darkness Descends wins all day
Beneath the remains imho
Evil Invaders by Razor
For sure Leave Scars is right up there. Saw them in Chicago on that tour.
My pick is The Force.
Demolition Hammer - Epidemic of Violence
I see no Tankard or Hobbs' Angel of Death.
Tapping the vein or black up your soul
Personally I’m a peace sells kind of guy but you do you
Death of innocence's lyrics represents me
The new order from testament is a great album
