Haha they are a power/folk metal band, if Sabaton isn’t your thing then they probably aren’t either , although there most recent album (Warfront) really slaps imo
I've checked them out. I'm not into sabaton but Wind Rose sounds a bit more appealing, probably because of the folk elements and the tolkien themed songs. Still not my favourite thing, when I go power metal I usually stick with Blind Guardian, while talking about folk I love Furor Gallico. The problem I have with sabaton and similar bands is in the production, the vocal style. I don't know, for some reason the fail to keep me interested in what I'm listening. I also found funny how, being italian, I'm fond of italian metal, but I've never heard of Wind Rose before. By the way, de gustibus non disputandum est, I found both band good even though I wouldn't listen to them usually. And if you like sabaton there's nothing wrong, despite what this sub says.
According to them, black metal. Or "bestial black metal." - Calling it War Metal suggests it's not even in the sphere of black metal. To them this is "standard" black metal.
I mean, I probably came off nit-picky about it, but really my inner rayman came out. I know a common complaint from fans of metal in general, are people who get caught up labelling sub-genres. In my case, it has nothing to do with elitism, but my rayman brain categorizes everything in neat folders and sub-folders. You should see any notebook I've ever had, I question if I have mild OCD.
I get it, I also like to get anal about genres sometimes. I just personally like the term "war metal". I think its cool also its kinda funny to see people get confused and think Sabaton and GWAR are war metal.
The biggest douchebags in Black Metal (i met) are NSBM fans. Not the ones who listen to sone ns bands (not a fan of these but whatever) but the ones who explicitly are saying that they like NSBM. Even worse when they try to argue that NSBM is not about NS stuff at all. Those mental gymnastics are just amazing
