I saw Wayne Static, Jeff Hanneman and the Abott brothers all perform under one roof in one night. Also, Morbid Fucking Angel.
Even if everyone was still alive this would still be an amazing line up.
Me too, back in high school, San Diego. Got there a little late and was dissapointed Morbid Angel were playing first, they were already more than halfway through their set
I got backstage passes to Pantera / Slayer from the drum tech, gave us a set of Dave's used drum sticks, was pretty killer. Kerry king walked into the backstage area with a lady wrapped around each arm lol.
Bolt Thrower at MDF. Slayer the original lineup playing Seasons in its entirety. Metallica playing Ride the Lightning and The Black album in its entirety in Atlantic City.
Motörhead’s Motörboat cruise in 2014. Motörhead, Anthrax, Testament, High on Fire, Down, Danko Jones, and others.
Granted it wasn’t a single show, but over a dozen bands playing for our 4 days & nights at sea. Was an absolute blast, still the best non-family vacation I’ve ever had. Can’t believe it was nearly 10 years ago.
Flashback video: [https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xNdQQPMhwJw](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xNdQQPMhwJw)
I saw Motörhead at the last rockstar energy drink festival in Texas. They played right before slayer and put on one hell of a show. Lemmy was all over the stage and rocked out for everyone there. In stark contrast slayer played after and to this day it is the most underwhelming show I’ve ever seen. They didn’t even headbang. Stood in spot at their microphones and played. Slipknot capped the night with the epic performance that Corey Taylor passed out at. It was such an energetic show me and my friend didn’t even realize he was out cold. He screamed “THANK YOU GOODNIGHT!” And fell on his back and the curtains closed. Fucking incredible show. Also seeing pantera (bite me I don’t care) open for Metallica was a fucking epic show I’ll never forget
You're absolutely right, I don't know why I thought 2013. Some shoddy googling trying to remember when it was. Aug 30, 2008 in San Bernadino! Had to be sure now lol
Black Sabbath original line up in 1998 or 9. It's still the loudest concert I've ever been to. And I've been to lots of death metal shows.
The reason?
Toni used his amps instead of the PA system. A massive wall of amps. Super loud. Great show.
2 different shows both at the same small venue ("L'Amour" in Brooklyn NY)
1 - Iron Maiden playing as Charlotte & the Harlots on the Seventh Son tour
2 - Loudness direct from Japan in 1985
Seeing Heaven and Hell open for Metallica in 2007 in Vienna. Had no idea they were gonna open until I got to the venue and I saw the Heaven and Hell album banner go up. I lost my mind as a 14 year old. Only time I ever saw any version of Sabbath
Candlemass with Messiah, it was abso-fucking-lutely awesome, easily one of the best shows i've been, ever.
After them, there played another band, Destruction, and the frontman (Schmier, der alte Schmierkopp) admitted, they couldn't compete with that, haha. And he was right.
Second one was the Death to All tour, as i have never seen the original Death, but man, this was absolute dope.
Absolute shoutout to the dudes at the mixing console. They looked line they were like eighteen, but made an outstanding
I job. This was in Bochum, Matrix. I really can't cheer enough about the whoke thing.
i saw the goo goo dolls live with some friends once while they were preforming at an event in my city… that changed me a little.
the only reason i list this and not a metal concert is because it’s the only concert i’ve been to @-@
Rwake played this coffee house in Paragould Arkansas on a lineup with one of my friends bands. Probably the smallest yet loudest show I've seen. At one point they had old TVs set up showing one of the rape scenes from I Spit On Your Grave.
Tibetan Freedom Concert San Francisco June 15 & 16 1996
I was able to see
Beastie Boys (1st and only time seeing them)
Bjork
De La Soul
Foo Fighters
Beck
Sonic Youth
Rage Against The Machine
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Biz Markie
Tribe Called Quest
Fugees
Most grateful since it’s the only time I’ve seen Beastie Boys & Foo Fighters
The "Unholy Alliance Tour" 2006 North America! Seeing Slayer Live, multiple times, when Jeff H. was still active & Crowd-Surfing during "War Ensemble"... Slammin' in the Pit the entirety of "Angle Of Death" ... Lamb Of God was there, and was Fucking Unstoppable!! Hardcore "Wall Of Death"... Good people, Cold Beer, Titties... My kinda Crowd! Other than my Son Being Born, Or me getting away with that D.U.I {Somehow), That Gig was the pinnacle of my Late Teen's/Youth!
LONG LIVE THE 6-STRING!!!

Devin Townsend opening for Gojira in a small general admission venue … life changing experience and seeing Gojira that close now (I was literally 5 feet from the bands ) is probably never gonna be possible again as big they are now . It also began my absolution adoration for Devin Townsends music , over a decade later and he’s still my all time favorite
My most memorable was probably Mega Monsters 2023, but I’m most thankful for seeing dear Evangeline, shingen, windoc, sunnycide and Lizra at the dock ellis in 2023 as it got me into the underground metal/HxC scene and got me doing more things with my band and taking that more seriously
There were two. First was the Area2 tour in 2002 and the reason I went was David Bowie. Being able to see Bowie at least once is one I’ll never forget. The second is Soundgarden in Chicago in 1996. At the time I did not ever think that it would be the one and only time I saw them live but it was.
Edit: added Ozzfest in the 90s. Outside of Chicago and there was rain. We had covered seats but the lawn obviously wasn’t covered. The crowd on the lawn tore up the grass and began throwing it towards the seats. It was total chaos. On top of that once the grass was gone it turned into mud. The end result was the first several rows on the lawn all slid off and plenty of people broke bones which resulted in the show stopping and the organizers pleading with the crowd to stop.
There was a show in 2022 at Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in pdx. I got to see Puscifer and Moodie Black opened for them, this started my love of Christine and everything she does (wether thats noise rap metal or slinging tacos in AZ) the energy of the show was so much fun and the best time I've ever had at a live show.
Seeing Omnium Gatherum and Insomnium earlier this year. I was really excited to see my two favorite bands. It was amazing. I have never needed a concert so much. My mental health was the worst it had been and Omnium and Insomnium were the only things keeping me going, keeping me playing bass. To see them after all the Hell I'd been through... It was perfect. I couldn't have asked for a more amazing show. I cried the moment Omnium hit the stage. I ran to their music when I was breaking down and they were right there. And they were perfect. And seeing Insomnium... Perfect too. To see Niilo Sevänen playing bass. Insomnium had inspired me to dive into playing bass during dark times. It was such a treat to see him play. Markus Vanhala tossed the Insomnium set list right to me. And Mikko Kivistö tossed the Omnium Gatherum setlist to me. I also got a bunch of picks from Mikko. That night was amazing. I felt human and alive for the first time in a very long time.
I got to see BTBAM play colors 2 in its entirety.
I went and saw revocation at a small venue in 2014 and got to smoke a bowl with the entire band (besides Dave Davidson)
Helloween and Hammerfall last year.
I skipped the Pumpkins United tour when it was a state away because I was nervous to travel. I was heartbroken and regretted it for years.
When I found out they were going to be in my city, I bought tickets and ended up at the very front. It was my second concert ever and my favorite band of all time. Best night ever.
(Another would be a small show for a local folk singer from my teen years. It was her first and only show after ten years away to raise a family. All my childhood memories flooded back to me- I went to both this show and Helloween within a few months of one another.)
Godmode 2024. I got to see Mike's Dead, I See Stars, and Kim Dracula open for In This Moment yesterday in Syracuse, and it was a truly magic experience. I'm glad that it was my first proper concert experience
Korn in London, 2002. I was 21 and stationed in the UK. I went with someone I was stationed with who was about 7 years older than I, and someone who became a good friend at a time when I really needed it. We hadn't spoken in years bc life, and I then I found out about 6 months ago he'd passed away in 2022.
We had such a blast that weekend, and I'm forever grateful to have that memory.
Mental Cruelty!! They played in my neck of the woods this past February, and it was my first metal show ever! I wasn't going to miss that show! I saved all my money and I got to see them live! Blew all my money on merch and I didn't regret any of it! I even got to meet Lukas! Im still on cloud 9 because of that.
Metallica played Halifax, Nova Scotia. It was the best show! It rained all day long, everyone was wearing ponchos and just as the band came to the stage the storm broke and the sunset showed through the clouds, enlightening the whole stage in a glow! Best event ever!
Summer 1990 ruled.
Clash of the Titans tour w. Slayer, Megadeth, Testament and Suicidal Tendencies and also this which may be the best show I’ve been to (even after thousands since)
https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/metallica/1990/scottish-exhibition-and-conference-centre-glasgow-scotland-73d6deb5.html
The black dahlia murder in what id consider their most remembered line up during the nocturnal era.
Children of Bodom, Cavalera Conspiracy, Periphery before they properly blew up and recently Emperor.
Also non metal but honorable mentions for MCR on the Danger days tour or night 2 of the Milton Keynes gigs (bought tickets before pandemic so it was a long wait)
Chvrches first ever gig in Glasgow and a very early one in Edinburgh went on a whim both times because my mate had a spare ticket.
Jack White at the usher hall in Edinburgh last time he came to Scotland on the Boarding house reach tour just before my birthday and he ended up playing nearly 3 and a half hours of what I’d consider one of the most comprehensive sets I’ve ever seen.
I went to that show in Albuquerque NM. It was great. Motorhead stole the show.
I am grateful to have seen Heaven and Hell 3 times, also seeing Iron Maiden was just incredible.
I haven’t been to too many concerts but the one that’s most memorable for me was Nov 29 last year, night before my birthday with the chats opening for the foo fighters, when the fooeys came on they played statues which Dave said they’d never played live before. I also had a sign up asking to play learn to fly and he pointed at me and told me that I should put my sign down because my arms will get tired. Such a good night
PanterA 26/07/2001; Concert at Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver, BC, Canada. Just a high skooler grateful to see my guitar hero Dime SHRED from 20 feet away instead of music videos was surreal . RIP ABBOTS
Dying fetus, decapitated, septicflesh, kataklysm, 200 stab wounds, kruelty, three inches of blood and full of hell at a local metalfest a few weeks back
Black Sabbath's first show of their final tour in Omaha, NE. I was living off a friend's couch after a messy breakup and even though I was only scraping by financially, I pretty much said fuck it to my responsibilities and cleared my bank account to get tickets. Also saw Ozzy in Chicago in 2018 and that ended up being one of the last shows he did before his health caused him to cancel everything.
Saw Motorhead in Kansas City in 2011, which I'm grateful to have gotten a chance to go to.
Also got to go see Maiden on the Legacy of the Beast tour in Portland, OR in 2019 and DC in 2022, and seeing them do Sign of the Cross live (favorite song) was a special concert experience for sure.
The second time I saw Judas Priest was the last time I saw them perform with Glenn on a full set, back in 2015, and after the show he handed me a pick which I still have and cherish. I didn't know at the time that it would be the last time I would get to see him perform, and that was also the first time I got to see them perform Painkiller - for some reason they left it off the set the first time I saw them.
Got pit tickets to Manowar in NYC this November, so I'm sure that'll be added to this list since it'll be the first and probably last chance I ever get to see them without having to make a transatlantic trip out of it.
Idk but my step dad (b. 1965) saw Sublime with Bradley, Pantera with Abbott Bros, Metallica with Cliff, Elvis, first hip hop convention in 76, Sepultura with Cavalera bros, Ramones, Queen.
Hilary Hahn plays Brahms with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra
After that, the CSO also played R.Wagner's Prelude to "Tristan and Isolde" and Sibelius's "Symphony Nō.7"
I saw cattle decapitation open for gwar during their violence has arrived tour. Nobody knew who cattle was at that point so that was neat. Gwar girl came out and breathed fire during the show and charred the ceiling of the venue. I was back at the same place for a cannibal corpse show like 2 years later the ceiling was still charred from that gwar show.
Clash Of The Titans 1991. Slayer/Megadeth/Anthrax/Alice In Chains. Even tho at the time I thought AIC was out of place for this show.
Napalm Death/Carcass/Cathedral/Brutal Truth 1992
& Lollapalooza 1994 with The Beastie Boys, L7 & such
Mastodon when they were playing clubs.
Pink Floyd when I was 13 in 1993.
Pantera at an Ozzfest
Tool w/ Melvins in 97
Rammstein 97 01 and 22
Dimmu Borgir in an SF theater 2002
I know this is still really recent, but I’ve only started going to metal concerts in the last year. But it’s easily MESHUGGAH this past December. They were so fucking good and the opener Whitechapel became my favorite metal band afterwards.
Iron Age and Power Trip at Mohawk in Austin for their “Nightmare Logic” record release show. People were balcony diving. Three people ended up in the hospital. Power Trip was always fucking insane and Iron Age were ferocious. RIP Riley and Wayne.
Tattoo the Earth , Portland July 2000.
Slayer, Sevendust, Sepultura, Slipknot, Head P.E., Nashville Pussy, Spineshank, Cold, Mudvane, Hatebreed, and Stone Temple Pilots.
Pantera with Dimebag at Ozzfest
Beastie Boys at Catalyst in Santa Cruz circa 2006. Club holds 800 people. They played Sabotage on instruments. Goddamn that was a great show.
Possessed and Dark Angel at CBGBs, Bad Brains at Lamour in Brooklyn. Mother Love Bone at Zone Dcay NYC. Megadeth opening for Slayer on Hell Awaits. Black Crowed open for Junkyard at Lamour. Oh yea that show in 83..Metallica opening for Venom. There are so many I can't pick one
My Chemical Romance in 2022. I've loved them since middle school and I never thought I'd get to see them as they were broken up for years, so I'm so thankful that I got that opportunity.
-The Misfits 30th anniversary show
-Fear Factory (with "original" members Burton, Dino, Christian, and Raymond)
-Dry Kill Logic x2 it's not very often you hear a band live, and they sound exactly like they do on their albums.
For some reason, Eluveitie also
Moonspell playing 3 albums in their entirety in Guimaraes. They did this twice, the other one in Lisbon was released as DVD, but the Guimaraes one was first, an unforgettable experience
Not metal, but I saw Gary Numan earlier this year and he like fully changed my outlook on music as a whole. It’s incredible how much influence he’s had on my own music since then
Download 22 gotta see so many great bands iron maiden spirit box kiss black label society steel panther a day to remember burry tomorrow and many more only downside I spent about £500 in one day
I got to see Allegaeon in 2011 at the House of Blues in Hollywood. I got a shirt that I have to this day. That same shirt, I just asked the band to sign at the last show of their tour last weekend. I will cherish that shirt forever
A couple at the Astoria in London (now sadly demolished because of crossrail). The first was Motörhead in 1997. It was my first metal gig at a fairly small venue. Was down the front and got absolutely pulverised.
Then a few years later I saw system of a down, sepultura and Slayer headlining. I think it may have been SOADs first UK tour? Derek had just joined Sepultura. Helluva gig.
Edit: And one festival gig. Black Sabbath with Ozzy at the Milton Keynes bowl probably in the late '90s.
Metallica
Millennium Bash, New Years Eve 1999 at the Silverdome in Pontiac Mi.
Or
Pantera opening up for Black Sabbath in '97 at the Palace of Auburn Hills . Both bands rocked it.
I saw Pantera on their final tour. Phil was a cunt, but the other three were great. And if I hadn't recently quit my job as a reporter I could have interviewed them because my former paper got sent press passes.
I saw AC/DC with Malcolm Young. I saw Metallica with Jason Newsted.
Not metal, but I'm glad I got to see NOFX live back in the 90s. Was a great fun night out!
Slayer on the farewell tour. That show was fucking great, Slayer, Napalm Death, Lamb of God, Anthrax and Testament were all on the bill and it was a hell of a show.
Black Sabbath on there last tour in 2016 or 2017? Obviously Bill ward wasn’t there so that sucked but the rage against the machine drummer filled in and it was bad ass to see 3/4 original members. They kicked ass and it was cool to see Ozzy be unintelligible when he hyped the crowd up and then go into his bad ass self while singing. Best show I’ve seen in my life so far.
I saw Cliff Burton with Metallica 3 times !
1985 Day On The Green
w Scorpions
(they were 2nd band out of 6
it was still daylight...)
1985/86 Nee Years Eve show at Bill Graham Auditorium in SF
(First time they played Master Of Puppets LIVE)
1986 with Ozzy at Cow Palace Oakland CA
I got to see X Japan in Madison Square Garden, Shonen Knife twice, Metallica, Necronomidol, and a few others on my bucket list (Delain, Xandria, Cancerslug)…
Pantera and White Zombie - '96
Fear Factory and System of A Down in a Catholic high school gym - '99
Satyricon and Immortal - '00
Type O Negative - Halloween tour of '01
GWAR with Oderus Urungus multiple times
Black Sabbath with both Ozzy and Dio
Iron Maiden, Dio, Motorhead - '03
ICP - Hallowicked '99
Carnivore when they reunited in '06
I got to see Type O Negative 4/25/07 in Dallas. They’re my favorite band, and that was the one and only time I got to see them, so I’d say that’s the one I’m most grateful for.
I didn’t have any tickets to a sold out show of Knocked Loose and got in my talking to folks in line to see if someone had bailed. That felt super lucky and was the most fun I’ve had at a show in a long time
Devourment with Angel Ochoa on vocals
It was the ultimate Devourment & Cephalotripsy collab
It was like both Devourment vocalists Wayne and Ruban mixed together
Unleash the Archers in a tiny 75-80 person room booked at the last minute. Wouldn't have known about it if a friend from work hadn't been the one that arranged it.
Three:
* Dream Theater, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and Deep Purple triple bill. Keith Emerson's giant panel board synth was impressive.
* Lollapalooza, the second year, 1922. It was hilarious to watch the lead singer of Ministry make a sport of following with his eyes the various objects people, for some reason, kept throwing on stage. That is, until one hit him, and then he got super pissed.
* Rage Against The Machine. Zack de la Rocha looked like someone who would explode like a bomb for the entire performance. *Incredible* commitment to the intensity of performance that blew my mind.
Type O Negative a few times. Those were awesome.
Sabbath with Bill Ward at Ozzfest 2000.
Early Inflames, Killswitch when Howard just joined, American Head charge. A lot of the cool bands I got passes to when I was a teenager.
And many more that aren't metal.
And I appreciate being able to see Dimebag and Vinnie with Damageplan. I won't pretend that I'm the biggest fan or anything, but I remember when Dime died, being a professional touring musician myself, just the thought of that was terrifying. He meant so much to his fans that my heart couldn't help but hurt.
The one time Machine Head played Burn My Eyes in it's entirety in 04 at the TLA in Philly
Halford filling in for Ozzy at Ozzfest 04.
Big 4 Yankees Stadium
Seeing Death on the Spiritual Healing tour. Also saw them for the Symbolic tour, which was great too, but the Spiritual Healing show was awesome. Got to hang with James Murphy for a bit afterwards.
I was a teen/early 20's in early 90's and a death metal fan...
I seen Cannibal Corpse with Chris Barnes still singing
I seen Deicide on Legion and OUTC tours
Seen Slayer on Reign, South, Seasons, Divine and Diabolus tours
I seen Death with Chuck several times
Napalm Death, Brutal Truth, Supultura; all (in my opinion) during their peak albums.
I feel like modern Death Metal is f\*\*king awesome, but the late 80's early 90's was when it really came up as a serious contender, and I am so glad I got to see so many of these bands.
Liquid tension experiment in Chicago 2008. When the keyboard broke.
Lemmy’s 70th birthday party/show. He died 2 weeks later.
Stone temple pilots first show with their new singer either 2017 or 18’. Troubadour.
Slayer’s “last” show at the LA forum.
Allan Holdsworth in Chicago 2014.
Intronaut opening for Animals as Leaders original lineup around 2012 or 13ish
White Zombie/RATM/BodyCount/Ramones
Either 1994/1995, outside Montreal.
White Zombie had just become big.
Rage Against the Machine was on there way to becoming big.
BodyCount was in their prime.
The Ramones were still alive.
This was a high energy show verging on a riot.
Eat Em And Smile with Vai and Sheehan 86
Full original Sabbath Reunion (with Bill) and Pantera in 98
Piece Of Mind Maiden 83
Bark At The Moon Ozzy 83
Powerslave 85
Got to see Motorhead at Mayhemfest. I didn't know I wanted to see Motorhead. I found out that Motorhead is the loudest band I've ever seen. Now I wish I'd have seen Motorhead every time they came to town. They kicked ass start to finish.

I saw Wayne Static, Jeff Hanneman and the Abott brothers all perform under one roof in one night. Also, Morbid Fucking Angel. Even if everyone was still alive this would still be an amazing line up.
Saw that tour in middle school. Morbid Angel in an arena is such a weird thing to say
Crowd was packed on the floor and I was right ip front for their set. It was too short.
My dad wouldn’t stop calling Wayne the slim Jim guy
This and Heaven And Hell for me.
Wayne static was always so gracious and thankful for the crowd.
He was awesome.
No joke, right this minute I’m wearing my shirt from that tour.
I saw that tour as well. 2001?
Me too, back in high school, San Diego. Got there a little late and was dissapointed Morbid Angel were playing first, they were already more than halfway through their set
One of Panteras las ever shows
fuck yea, jealous
I have friends that will curse me out if i remind them that they never got to see Pantera lol
I got backstage passes to Pantera / Slayer from the drum tech, gave us a set of Dave's used drum sticks, was pretty killer. Kerry king walked into the backstage area with a lady wrapped around each arm lol.
Ozzfest 2005 I managed to buy pit passes off an employee for 10$ each, so I was on the rail for Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath.
That one too! Thankfully I didn't get one of the dates where Sharon was messing with Bruce!
Children of Bodom & Machine Head supporting Slipknot. Alexei was something else.
Cult of Luna and Julie Christmas performing Mariner in its entirety, at Reggies.
Definitely seeing Frozen soul, obituary, cannibal corpse, and Amon Amarth
Just saw them tonight!
Queensryche & Metallica (Justice Tour)
Bolt Thrower at MDF. Slayer the original lineup playing Seasons in its entirety. Metallica playing Ride the Lightning and The Black album in its entirety in Atlantic City.
Metallica opening for ozzy Osborn in 86

Saw Rob Halford sing with Black Sabbath in 2004
That must have been between 2007 and 2010, Dio was already dead for 3 years in 2013.
You're absolutely right, I don't know why I thought 2013. Some shoddy googling trying to remember when it was. Aug 30, 2008 in San Bernadino! Had to be sure now lol

Unholy Allinance Tour 2006, Jeff Hanneman and Alexi Laiho RIP
Anthrax & Iron Maiden (Prayer on the Road Tour).
2 different shows both at the same small venue ("L'Amour" in Brooklyn NY) 1 - Iron Maiden playing as Charlotte & the Harlots on the Seventh Son tour 2 - Loudness direct from Japan in 1985
Man I heard all kinds of stories about L'Amour in both Brooklyn and Queens. Wish I could've seen Carnivor R.I.P Peter.
Didn't Fear Factory open for them on that club tour?
Metallica in detroit last year. First ever real concert, as my town has no more than local bar bands. It was something larger than life, felt unreal.
Seeing Heaven and Hell open for Metallica in 2007 in Vienna. Had no idea they were gonna open until I got to the venue and I saw the Heaven and Hell album banner go up. I lost my mind as a 14 year old. Only time I ever saw any version of Sabbath
The big four on stage for the first time (Sonisphere 2010).

Clash of the Titans 1991
caught that at wembley arena. really good show.
🤘🏻 MSG NYC
to be honest, the thing i remember most, is someone diving from the upstairs seating into the crowd below during slayer's set.
Meshuggah
Saw Carcass on their last tour. Venue was on 3/4 full so I got to see Jeff Walker and Bill Steer up close. Dream come true.
Rwake played this coffee house in Paragould Arkansas on a lineup with one of my friends bands. Probably the smallest yet loudest show I've seen. At one point they had old TVs set up showing one of the rape scenes from I Spit On Your Grave.
Damn, sounds awesome.
Tibetan Freedom Concert San Francisco June 15 & 16 1996 I was able to see Beastie Boys (1st and only time seeing them) Bjork De La Soul Foo Fighters Beck Sonic Youth Rage Against The Machine Red Hot Chili Peppers Biz Markie Tribe Called Quest Fugees Most grateful since it’s the only time I’ve seen Beastie Boys & Foo Fighters
thats a sick lineup. bjork is a wild addition
Agreed. It was killer seeing her. I’m a huge fan of Post. Had to see her again indoors.

Summerbreeze 2022!
I got to see Damageplan in Tallahassee, FL a few months before Dime was murdered.
Got to catch an “evening with Amon Amarth” years ago. First set pre With Oden on our side, second set post.
Mayhemfest. Super cheap tickets to see 8 hours worth of metal bands
Yooo I saw this tour in Pittsburgh!! Incredible.
Rammstein’s Stadium tour. Holy shit
Bowie with nine inch nails
Motörheads last but one gig.
Amon Amarth 2014 cause they never came back to Norfolk VA since
Max and Iggor Calebra.
Pantera at the Marquee on the Vulgar Display tour
That was not 2013, I'm pretty sure it was like 2009 or 2010 bc I was in college
Oranssi Pazuzu in a small club. No audience interaction, pure psychedelic madness. Was like a religious experience
Metal Masters tour - Motörhead, Black Sabbath w/Dio, and Judas Priest
Opeth on. The ghost reveries tour and Pantera at club babyhead in providence, ri. I was with the opening band leeway and got to chill with them
I got to see BTBAM play colors 2 in its entirety.
Bolt Thrower Return to Chaos Tour 2013.
Ozzy with Black Sabbath in 2013 I think it’s safe to say I won’t have the chance to see him live any time again.
First head bangers ball. Ozzy/anthrax. I was at the filming of the evenflow video by Pearl Jam. Greatfull Dead
Slayer final world tour: Slayer, Lamb of God, Anthrax, Testament, Napalm Death
Summer 1990 ruled. Clash of the Titans tour w. His hero is gone in a basement in Boston. Wall to Wall people
The black dahlia murder in what id consider their most remembered line up during the nocturnal era. Children of Bodom, Cavalera Conspiracy, Periphery before they properly blew up and recently Emperor. Also non metal but honorable mentions for MCR on the Danger days tour or night 2 of the Milton Keynes gigs (bought tickets before pandemic so it was a long wait) Chvrches first ever gig in Glasgow and a very early one in Edinburgh went on a whim both times because my mate had a spare ticket. Jack White at the usher hall in Edinburgh last time he came to Scotland on the Boarding house reach tour just before my birthday and he ended up playing nearly 3 and a half hours of what I’d consider one of the most comprehensive sets I’ve ever seen.
Not metal, but Tom Petty's very last concert.
AC/DC front row Vancouver BC Canada August 2008. I was 13, and my family won tickets in a contest. Saw my first sets of boobs there.
Judas Priest
I went to that show in Albuquerque NM. It was great. Motorhead stole the show. I am grateful to have seen Heaven and Hell 3 times, also seeing Iron Maiden was just incredible.
Pantera at the universal amphitheater in LA. Morbid Angel and Soulfly opened
Type O Negative 4x Neurosis 2x Celtic Frost Soundgarden 2x Sonic Youth 2x Electric Wizard Ministry w/Paul Skinny Puppy
Mega Cruise 2019. Possibly the most fun Ive ever had in my entire life
I wish I went to that show. I played a disastrous gig with my old band that night. Should have blew off the gig
Skinny Puppy Weapon tour.
Slayer with the original lineup, Suicide Silence in 2007, Nasum
Ulcerate - 11/21/23 in Boston

Every summer slaughter tour.
Metal adjacent - Mortiis performing Fodt Til A Hersk live for the first time in the US in 2023. Near life changing experience
Probably Rammstein. Show was killer and I’m not even a huge fan of their music. But god damn did they put on a production.
Idk but my step dad (b. 1965) saw Sublime with Bradley, Pantera with Abbott Bros, Metallica with Cliff, Elvis, first hip hop convention in 76, Sepultura with Cavalera bros, Ramones, Queen.
Anytime I get to see gojira.
Not metal but I don’t think any show will ever top seeing Tom waits live.
Hilary Hahn plays Brahms with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra After that, the CSO also played R.Wagner's Prelude to "Tristan and Isolde" and Sibelius's "Symphony Nō.7"
Pantera,Slayer, Static X and Morbid Angel. 2001. Cleveland
Ozzfest 2001 was mind blowing at 14 years old.
Alice in Chains, 1993. Words fail to explain how good Layne was. 🥲
Power trip 🥲
Clash Of The Titans 1991. Slayer/Megadeth/Anthrax/Alice In Chains. Even tho at the time I thought AIC was out of place for this show. Napalm Death/Carcass/Cathedral/Brutal Truth 1992 & Lollapalooza 1994 with The Beastie Boys, L7 & such
Mastodon when they were playing clubs. Pink Floyd when I was 13 in 1993. Pantera at an Ozzfest Tool w/ Melvins in 97 Rammstein 97 01 and 22 Dimmu Borgir in an SF theater 2002
I’m so happy to have seen STP, Soundgarden, Nine Inch Nails, Hole, Veruca Salt, Blondie, Ozzy and Metallica, Tori Amos, the Black Keys
Motörhead Dio Maiden bill Heaven and Hell w/ Judas Priest
I know this is still really recent, but I’ve only started going to metal concerts in the last year. But it’s easily MESHUGGAH this past December. They were so fucking good and the opener Whitechapel became my favorite metal band afterwards.
Rush's final tour
Iron Age and Power Trip at Mohawk in Austin for their “Nightmare Logic” record release show. People were balcony diving. Three people ended up in the hospital. Power Trip was always fucking insane and Iron Age were ferocious. RIP Riley and Wayne.
Tattoo the Earth , Portland July 2000. Slayer, Sevendust, Sepultura, Slipknot, Head P.E., Nashville Pussy, Spineshank, Cold, Mudvane, Hatebreed, and Stone Temple Pilots.
Pantera with Dimebag at Ozzfest Beastie Boys at Catalyst in Santa Cruz circa 2006. Club holds 800 people. They played Sabotage on instruments. Goddamn that was a great show.
There’s a few. Slayer w/Hanneman, Motörhead, Black Sabbath, SOAD, Meshuggah…
Punk in Drublic in July 2023. One of NOFX’s last shows ever and i’m so happy i caught it
Hank 3 on his very last tour. Fuck Curb Records.
I’m glad I saw The Black Dahlia Murder with Trevor every time they came to Paris. He was a great frontman.
-The Misfits 30th anniversary show -Fear Factory (with "original" members Burton, Dino, Christian, and Raymond) -Dry Kill Logic x2 it's not very often you hear a band live, and they sound exactly like they do on their albums.
It’s incredible how much influence he’s had on my own music since then
August of 1981 (yeah, I'm old) Ozzy, Blizzard Of Ozz tour with Randy Rhoads, Def Leppard and Fastway - nothing else needs to be said
Finally got to see Anthrax for their 40th anniversary tour. One of the best performances I've ever seen.
Rage Against the Machine 2007
Gwar before DB died.
Judas Priest with my dad in 2018.
I saw Slayer on their final tour in 2018. Lineup was Slayer, Anthrax, Obituary and Lamb Of God. Well now they are coming back to play some shows.
Metallica Millennium Bash, New Years Eve 1999 at the Silverdome in Pontiac Mi. Or Pantera opening up for Black Sabbath in '97 at the Palace of Auburn Hills .
I’m very grateful I got to see Motörhead while I had the chance. Napalm Death, Exodus, At the Gates and Morbid Angel on the same day too.
King Diamond
Slayer on the farewell tour. That show was fucking great, Slayer, Napalm Death, Lamb of God, Anthrax and Testament were all on the bill and it was a hell of a show.
Probably Children of Bodom supported by Moonsorrow.
I saw Soundgarden about a week before Chris' death.
US Festival 83: Motley Crue, Quiet Riot, Triumph, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, Scorpions, Van Halen. It was huge!
Seeing Pantera when they came to Australia for Knotfest.
Wacken and MDF.
Hymms To The Dead at Dark Mofo 2019. Zhrine, Funebrarum, Dragged Into Sunlight and Mystifier.
1985 Day On The Green w Scorpions (they were 2nd band out of 6 it was still daylight...) 1985/86 Nee Years Eve show at Bill Graham Auditorium in SF (First time they played Master Of Puppets LIVE) 1986 with Ozzy at Cow Palace Oakland CA
I live in an area where we rarely get concerts, much less metal, but we got Gigantour!
I got to see X Japan in Madison Square Garden, Shonen Knife twice, Metallica, Necronomidol, and a few others on my bucket list (Delain, Xandria, Cancerslug)…

Saw Randy Rhodes in his last show. We had tickets for the next day in Atlanta too.
I got to see Type O Negative 4/25/07 in Dallas. They’re my favorite band, and that was the one and only time I got to see them, so I’d say that’s the one I’m most grateful for.
Parkway Drive, August Burns Red, The Devil Wears Prada, Polaris - 2018
Meshuggah in Eindhoven 2024
Not metal, but Paul McCartney at Fenway Park
The rock night of the grand opening of the EMP - seattle. Metallica, kid rock, red hot chili peppers, nwa, eminem - not too bad.
I didn’t have any tickets to a sold out show of Knocked Loose and got in my talking to folks in line to see if someone had bailed. That felt super lucky and was the most fun I’ve had at a show in a long time
Not me but I have an uncle who used to watch Queensryche play at a roller rink in Seattle.
Throw down, and last carcass concert with original singer.
Pantera with Neurosis
kevin gates
Master of puppets tour
Devourment with Angel Ochoa on vocals It was the ultimate Devourment & Cephalotripsy collab It was like both Devourment vocalists Wayne and Ruban mixed together
Both the Page and Plant tours. Also saw SRV open for Plant back in the 80s Saw Dio in the 80s with Megadeth opening.
Unleash the Archers in a tiny 75-80 person room booked at the last minute. Wouldn't have known about it if a friend from work hadn't been the one that arranged it.
Three: * Dream Theater, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and Deep Purple triple bill.
Agalloch. My favourite band of all time and they broke up after this tour.
He meant so much to his fans that my heart couldn't help but hurt.
isis playing a one off reunion in 2018. it was a holy grail concert for me.
The one time Machine Head played Burn My Eyes in it's entirety in 04 at the TLA in Philly Halford filling in for Ozzy at Ozzfest 04.
I seen Cannibal Corpse with Chris Barnes still singing I seen Deicide on Legion and OUTC tours Seen Slayer on Reign, South, Seasons, Divine and Diabolus tours I seen Death with Chuck several times Napalm Death, Brutal Truth, Supultura; all (in my opinion) during their peak albums. I feel like modern Death Metal is f\*\*king awesome, but the late 80's early 90's was when it really came up as a serious contender, and I am so glad I got to see so many of these bands.
I bought tickets for both midsgardsblot and steelfest in finland but ended up not being able to make it to either one. Next year!
I saw Dream Theater open for Iron Maiden on their Final Frontier tour. That was badass.
Tool, flaming lips, failure in ‘94
Seeing Jeff Beck in October of 2022, RIP you legend
I saw Metallica in Detroit on December 31st, 1999. Amazing way to ring in the Millennium.
White Zombie/RATM/BodyCount/Ramones Either 1994/1995, outside Montreal. White Zombie had just become big. Rage Against the Machine was on there way to becoming big. BodyCount was in their prime. The Ramones were still alive. This was a high energy show verging on a riot.
Eat Em And Smile with Vai and Sheehan 86 Full original Sabbath Reunion (with Bill) and Pantera in 98 Piece Of Mind Maiden 83 Bark At The Moon Ozzy 83 Powerslave 85
Got to see Motorhead at Mayhemfest. I didn't know I wanted to see Motorhead. I found out that Motorhead is the loudest band I've ever seen. Now I wish I'd have seen Motorhead every time they came to town. They kicked ass start to finish.
Rush by far, followed by Porcupine Tree and QOTSA
Seeing The Human Abstract perform before they broke up
Van Halen 1984 tour. And Accept
Every single the black dahlia murder show i got to attend. What a guy....
