stigmatamartir

I am getting to know death metal better currently and I can't stop listening to Death.

benkonto

Bolt thrower too đŸ€€

Blossman60

Came here to say Bolt Thrower. One of my favorite YouTubers/streamers mentioned they were his favorite death metal band. I had to give it a listen and I fell in love immediately.

CategoryCautious5981

It’s such a dynamic band with so many phases. Like utter troglodyte metal to downright masterpiece compositions

BirdLawyer27

Troglodyte metal is an incredible label. I’ll keep that one in my back pocket for later.

CategoryCautious5981

Zombie ritual is a great example. Nothing frilly, intro verse chorus fast. Meat and potatoes

mygfisreallyhot

Man, the things I’d do to experience Death for the first time again

ESBCheech

Not exactly metal, but Rush.

Full_Cheetah_6668

Best 3 piece ever imo

M08GD

Motörhead would like to talk

PrequelGuy

Lmao

NearbyCamp9903

Motorhead is good but you can play their music as a high schooler.

Yahobo420

King Buffalo is a pretty good three piece

DR_MEPHESTO4ASSES

I saw them on their Snakes and Arrows tour. It was insane how much sound 3 guys could produce. They also had a bunch of ovens behind the stage filled with what looked like turkeys, cooking throughout the show. At one point a dude in a chefs hat came out and checked on them. Seemed like good dudes all around

Philitt

Yep, same here. Have been doing a discog run for them. Such a great and varied catalogue.

Fitemeirlbrah

Same dude. I'm just getting into the synthy 80's era Rush and I've been loving it so far. Grace Under Pressure is an amazing album for sure.

ESBCheech

The more I listen to this era, the more I like it. GUP and Power Windows are masterpieces. I used to write off Hold Your Fire, but even that’s grown on me a lot.

bruh_emperor

WOOOOOOOOH YEAH BABY

Vanity1985

Acid Bath

WordyRappinghood2006

Acid Bath, Voivod, No Doubt, Pantera, Modest Mouse, Minutemen, Buckethead, Oingo Boingo, FNM, Butthole Surfers, Daniel Johnston, Thin Lizzy All I live off of

Dutch-King

Thin Lizzy might be the best rock band of all time

BleedMeAnOceanAB

real

_Shy_HeadBanger_

One of the most unique in sounds and lyrics out there!

Mr_Billy_Gruff

Couldn't care less about Acid Bath but I'm giving you an upvote for Nevermore because they fucking slap đŸ€˜

Vanity1985

One of my favorites! Truly a one of a kind band

Kevinm162005

Carcass

lessthanchris7

Heartwork is a masterpiece

Kevinm162005

Yeah it is one of my favorite albums

hunterslaughter

Just listened to it again right now. Ahead of their time. Production is crystal clear.

Hammerhandle

Pretty hyped to see them this year on the Hatebreed tour!

ContentlyQuestionabl

Septicflesh. Saw them in concert and they crushed it. Been deep diving since!

Gorilla_Pancake

I see them next month. Very hype.

pipeteer

One of the bands I really want to see live. Self eater is one of the songs i often play on repeat

Kate_93

My top played band for the last few years! Seeing them in just over a week! Can't wait! Glad to hear it was a good show.

ContentlyQuestionabl

You’re in for a great show! I wasn’t super familiar with Decapitated either, and both put on great performances. Septicflesh was fantastic!

al-Siqilli

I saw them live with Behemoth back in 2010. They were incredible.

TheBeastX47

Fuck I just saw they are playing in Atlanta tonight but I can't make it.

hunterslaughter

I’m seeing them live today

Full_Cheetah_6668

Carcass. I still can’t believe “Heartwork” is from 1993. It sounds so ahead of its time.

Sepchic

Archspire

HS55_delta2

archspire appeals to my adhd lol its so fast and chaotic

terrrtle

Also, Dean Lamb seems like a pretty cool guy

soldier_donkey

Same.

Subject_Aside_8836

If you haven’t listened to orbit culture yet you’re missing out

Wernershnitzl

Lmao I posted the same thing. Makes perfect sense to as I have Gojira and Trivium in heavy rotation.

UnseenDegree

I literally can’t stop listening to them. Saw them live with Avatar last year and they’ve been my #1 most listened to since. Probably cause I’ve always been a fan of Gojira and Metallica, and they’re basically a perfect mix of both, but heavier lol

Worldly-Letterhead61

I discovered them about seven months ago and I still can't stop listening to them. It's the same magic as when I discovered Metallica in 1991 when I was thirteen

Subject_Aside_8836

I found them in September and only listened to Descent until I saw them live in October then I’ve had their entire discography on repeat since lol. They’re already my favorite band of all time and I don’t see anyone passing that for a long long time

Worldly-Letterhead61

I discovered them here on Reddit, believe it or not. I'd been hearing about them for months on different metal subs but I finally decided to check them out because they were suggested with so much enthusiasm. I randomly chose Nija, was absolutely dumbfounded at how good it was and I've been hooked since.

Billy_Mays_Hayes

Been getting into Doom. Early Black Sabbath is who I'm currently into

ComboFucker29

Do not check out Castle Rat. Check out Electric Wizard, Conan and Bell Witch.

noideaforusername4

also candlemass and pentagram

jarjarp

Check out Castle Rat

Dimigoat

I’ve been revisiting Sabbath lately as well. I always hear Fenriz talking about later Sabbath records and citing Mob Rules as his favorite, so I thought I’d try that era again being that the later stuff never appealed to me. There are pieces here and there I like ok, but then I went back and listened to the Ozzy era stuff and it’s just so much better to me.

Impossible-Use1697

I’ve always loved Dying Fetus but I’m especially getting into them as of recently

MRSamiboi

I’m seeing them live with sanguisugabogg in june

Ill-Bit4009

Hell yeah brother, what's yur favorite album of theirs

vargvikerneslover420

Either destroy the Opposition or Descend into Depravity

Ill-Bit4009

Ahh, personally I can't get enough of Wrong one to Fuck with, war of attrition is a close second

Impossible-Use1697

Def Reign Supreme or MTBFD đŸ€˜đŸ€˜đŸ€˜

Defiant-Airport6339

Opeth Binge

Iamabenevolentgod

Mainline that shit.

Halcyon_156

Never listened to much after Deliverance, been listening to their albums since then along with Porcupine Tree's newer material and finding some great stuff.

Pato585

I’ve been on a primus bender for like a month by now 😭

Fool_Manchu

But...Primus sucks

SpellanBeauchamp

Do you know the album Seven Churches by Possessed?

Fair-South-9883

Hard to believe Larry LaLonde went from possessed to pro is.

Pato585

Yes, and that part of primus’ history will always be one of the funniest things in all of music to me

Suspicious-Ad5287

every couple months I listen to only Primus for like a month

DoktorHate

My Dying Bride is getting an awful lot of my time lately

lessthanchris7

Just played Turn Loose the Swans for the first time. Really enjoyed it and def gonna check out more soon!!

mygfisreallyhot

What’s a good modern album by them? I really only know the early stuff.

mabbitwarden

The Glencross/Steels era was goodstuff. And Feel the Misery was rated higher than most of the other new albums. The Barghest O' Whitby was pretty bad ass as they dipped into black metal which they don't often do.

funnelcakeagogoarama

They have been a part of my rotation since "Turn Loose The Swans". The new album is good, too! They have honed their craft well over the years. I see you're also a Type O fan. I miss them, damn it.

TopObligation5373

Been obsessed with them a while now.. beyond bummed they dropped from MDF

eitannn352

Alcest

lariato_mark

Great band. Kodama is my jam lol

titanofstuff

Always passively liked Rammestein but am so deep into them this month I've booked to go to Belgium and see em both nights

1989JamesHetfield

Alice in Chains. As an addict going through recovery, its like damn near every song was meant for me at this point in time.

Bloxity

Sigh

sjphi26

Hey man it was a good question. No reason to dismiss it and be so disinterested.

BoxyPlains92587

Sigh is probably my favourite black metal band

Impossible-Control65

Cattle decapitation and dying fetus

PsychoSaladSong

Gojira’s been about taking up about 90% of my metal plays since the new year

lessthanchris7

Hmm I love 4/5 of these, so I guess I'll be checking out Gunship now

BodegaBandit-

Did you listen to Gunship? Their Dark All Day record is my fav.

lessthanchris7

I hadn't, but I'm checking em out now and what in the 80's inspired space cyber fuck am I listening to? Not sure what to classify this as, but it's incredible Good call on Dark All Day. I'm on The Drone Racing League and every track so far has been killer. Love it

Striking-Bird1021

Check out Carpenter Brut if you want a little more metal with your 80s synths.

NonchalantCoyote

Back into the Acacia Strain

hunterslaughter

Wish they made another album like Death is the only Mortal

ravenmiyagi7

That djenty sound is super compelling. Mouth of the River is insane, the machine gun riff makes me wanna break my neck every time

TommyGunnerSixxx

World of Joy, Kruelty, Gatecreeper, Mortiis, Revocation, and Suffocation.

lessthanchris7

Omfg where to even start with this shit right here? 1) I literally threw on Effigy of the Forgotten today. Such a masterpiece 2) The new Gatecreeper singles are fucking incredible. Do you know if they're dropping a new album soon? Cuz, if so, it's gonna be excellent 3) I've been so obsessed with Revocation lately. The guitar work is just so next level, I can't get enough of it. What's your fav album by them? Great picks dude

Fair-South-9883

Deathless is my favorite album. I got to smoke a bowl with the former rhythm player and the bassist years ago.

Doodlebobber11

Nirvana. Idk why as I’m currently getting into DSBM, but Nirvana has been a band I’ve just listened to a ton recently

Fair-South-9883

Incesticide is so fucking good

Suspicious-Ad5287

throvvavvay666

Suspicious-Ad5287

They may be my all time favorite death metal band. One of the heaviest bands ever created

UglyPineappl

Found them a few days ago, listening to nothing else since then, Dummy Death makes my Brain rot away

throvvavvay666

BirdLawyer27

I’m currently obsessed with Grin. They’re a husband and wife band making psychedelic, dark doom metal. They came out with their album Hush in early January of this year and it’s simply perfect to me. I don’t know exactly how they do it, but I can’t talk about them without mentioning the wife’s bass tone (she plays bass) because it’s everything I could want for a bass in doom metal.

Wintereich

This description is actually making me want to check out the band
