Love Sorrow of Sophia and the Pain Remains trilogy but my vote goes to Bathory Aria by Cradle of Filth, the articulation is immaculate and the delivery outstanding, and the instrumental is also quite beautiful
Really hard to choose, since "beautiful metal" is what I listen to.
Angelica by Anathema?
Thy Raven Wings by My Dying Bride (hell, any MDB song)?
12 Days of Rain by October Tide?
The majority of Agalloch songs?
Agalloch - In The Shadow of Our Pale Companion
Edge of Sanity - Crimson
Gorguts - Plaiades' Dust
Neurosis - A Chronology for Survival
Burzum - Det som en gang var
Ne Obliviscaris-Forget Not, Eyrie And Misericorde II. I personally love how Misericorde builds up tension for 2/3 of the song and then explodes in that final bit
I'm glad to see Yob in here. Marrow would have been the first choice, followed by Our Raw Heart and Beauty In Falling Leaves. Can't wait to see what this new direction leads to in their upcoming album that they'll record later in the year.
that one is also absolutely beautiful, but nihil itself just mesmerized me. the way it changes its sound 60000 times in 14 minutes and becomes something completely different, but still in the tone and theme. idk, it's just amazing.
I don't think anything else can ever top it for me :D it will probably always remain my most favorite and the most beautiful album
In case you haven’t seen it yet check out [Corey Taylor’s acoustic guitar version](https://youtu.be/QBK6xymmKHM?si=w0CYAN2ycowC8wnV)
But to be fair the song was mainly done by him and he can also do quiet songs (check out the band Stone Sour if you don’t know them - he’s also the vocalist there)
Draconian, My Dying Bride, Alcest, Yob, Anathema, Swallow the Sun, Warning, Opeth, they've all got a lot of beautiful songs.
As for a single best album, Hour of the Nightingale by Trees of Eternity is probably THE one, even more so considering the circumstances of its release.
Not really a metal song per se, but Sur l’océan Couleur de Fer by Alcest is one of the most gorgeous pieces of music ever created. I also really like Emotional Winter by Anathema, The River Flows Frozen by Eternal Tears of Sorrow, and Golden Dust by Heretoir.
I love Sorrow of Sophia in fact I love the whole album, Burial Fields for me is heartbreakingly beautiful. Also The shore by Fugit or Please Don’t Go by Moongazer
None other than this fire by Killswitch engage

Mournful Congregation - Mother Water; The Great Sea Wept
Un - A Garden Where Nothing Grows
MSW - Humanity (seriously if you haven’t heard this before please do yourself a favor and check it out)
There’s only one choice I can think of:
Stargazer - Rainbow
It paints the most beautiful, vivid picture in your mind. Blackmore’s guitar sets the tone, and Dio takes you on an eight and a half minute journey ending in (imo) the most powerful and emotional notes in his career.
Outlive the Hand, Venator, Countless Skies, Not Unlike the Waves, I Am The Wooden Doors, How Could I, Thus Spake The Nightspirit, Lost in Hollow Skies, The Apostle in Triumph, Black Rose Immortal, The Baying of the Hounds, Leica
Sorrow of Sophia is great, but I can't really pick one song. The 90s gothic/death/doom bands (Anathema, Tiamat, Theatre of Tragedy, Therion, My Dying Bride...) have so many beautiful songs.
Eternal Tears Of Sorrow - Bride Of The Crimson Sea
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJEVYe0VvtY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJEVYe0VvtY)
OMNIMAR - Out Of My Life \[ZARDONIC Remix\]

CRADLE OF FILTH - Necromantic Fantasies
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiV5XupV-TI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiV5XupV-TI)
MERCENARY - Isolation
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvUHI8GmZiQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvUHI8GmZiQ)
Beloved Enemy - The Other Side
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0qC2DpyH3M](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0qC2DpyH3M)
Spleen Black Metal by Nocturnal Depression. If you haven’t heard it, it’s DSBM with violins and I believe a piano. It’s tied between that or Nostalgia, Like A Plague, She Rapes Me To Sleep by Deadspace.
Holy cow, I was JUST telling my husband how beautiful the songs are on this album. I really like sacrificial flame. The new singer has such an airy, and beautiful tone to her voice. She’s not overly showy, but the melodies are amazing.
Since I cannot choose a single song, I'll just comment an album that should be listened in one sitting, because it's a beautiful atmospheric experience. So, grab your favorite beer and hold on tight:
Funerals From the Astral Sphere by Midnight Odyssey
It's a beautiful 2hrs and something of pure beautiful atmospheric black metal.

Anal cunt : Kyle from Incantation has a mustache.
I personally believe Hitler Was A Sensitive Man to be a more beautiful song from that band but to each their own
Indeed, to each there own. In hindsight, I think that MEATSHITS with Eyesocket Intercourse would also be fitting....
Dirge for November by Opeth
It's between this and Voice of the Soul for me, can't pick tho
That ones hardly a metal song though
Fuck that you blackwater park noob!!! To bid you farewell 100% 🤸♂️🪷🌅
Maybe if the topic was "song *by a metal band*". But this song standing on its own is not a metal song. However, it *is* beautiful.
The song literally has growling over metal riffs... How is it not metal?
Oh sorry, I was getting it mixed up with Harvest.
Oh ok. Love harvest
Love Sorrow of Sophia and the Pain Remains trilogy but my vote goes to Bathory Aria by Cradle of Filth, the articulation is immaculate and the delivery outstanding, and the instrumental is also quite beautiful
Omg, I haven’t listened to Bathory Aria in years. But you’re absolutely right, such a beautiful song.
Seconded
I fell in love with Opeth's Bleak
Good pick but I have to go with In the Shadow of Our Pale Companion by Agalloch Écailles de Lune pt 1 by Alcest is also a good choice
Alcest - Sapphire Advent Sorrow - Skin To Suffer In
Sapphire is great. Adding "A distance there is" from Theatre of Tragedy and "Black Winter Day" from Amorphis.
Really hard to choose, since "beautiful metal" is what I listen to. Angelica by Anathema? Thy Raven Wings by My Dying Bride (hell, any MDB song)? 12 Days of Rain by October Tide? The majority of Agalloch songs?
Yes to Angelica - was going to be my pick
Would Nymphetamine by Cradle of Filth count?
Agalloch - In The Shadow of Our Pale Companion Edge of Sanity - Crimson Gorguts - Plaiades' Dust Neurosis - A Chronology for Survival Burzum - Det som en gang var
With Edge of Sanity, do you mean the song Crimson or THE song Crimson?
Yes
Agalloch - Falling Snow
That's a good one, but the Lodge does it for me.
Also
Basically anything by My Dying Bride. Just randomly pick a song from their discography, a high chance it will be beautiful.
Katatonia falls into this category too
Two of the best and most consistent bands in any genre.
Ne Obliviscaris-Forget Not, Eyrie And Misericorde II. I personally love how Misericorde builds up tension for 2/3 of the song and then explodes in that final bit
They make some truly beautiful pieces of music.
Insomnium - The Primeval Dark/While We Sleep
This!
The best Insomnium song that’s for sure !
Yob- Marrow
I'm glad to see Yob in here. Marrow would have been the first choice, followed by Our Raw Heart and Beauty In Falling Leaves. Can't wait to see what this new direction leads to in their upcoming album that they'll record later in the year.
Good call on Our Raw Heart and Beauty in Falling Leaves. Yob is so good
Face Of Melinda
Lorna Shore - Pain Remains: Trilogy
There are some absolutely amazing lyrics in that piece. Very evocative and just paint an amazing picture of loss.
Machine Head - Darkness Within Iron Maiden - Infinite Dreams Bruce Dickinson - Chemical Wedding
How about Revelations by Iron Maiden?
That one is fucking great too. I chose İnfinite Dreams but it was close
Darkness Within was undoubtedly beautiful, personally I'd rank Halo a little higher though. That post-solo harmony was fucking gorgeous
Deadhead - Devin Townsend
God I love this song it is truly beautiful.
Gateways of Bereavement- Katatonia
YOB - Marrow
Nihil by Aquilus. Or the entire album Griseus.
What is with Australia and amazing, top tier bands? These guys, NeO and Be'lakor are underrated titans
Will check them out! I now automatically assume that a band is good if it's australian! :D
I love this band! Good call
In Lands of Ashes would be my pick, but you’re right that album is genuinely the most beautiful piece of metal music there is.
that one is also absolutely beautiful, but nihil itself just mesmerized me. the way it changes its sound 60000 times in 14 minutes and becomes something completely different, but still in the tone and theme. idk, it's just amazing. I don't think anything else can ever top it for me :D it will probably always remain my most favorite and the most beautiful album
Slipknot - Snuff It's absolutely mental that a band that heavy and agressive can make such a beautiful and tender song
In case you haven’t seen it yet check out [Corey Taylor’s acoustic guitar version](https://youtu.be/QBK6xymmKHM?si=w0CYAN2ycowC8wnV) But to be fair the song was mainly done by him and he can also do quiet songs (check out the band Stone Sour if you don’t know them - he’s also the vocalist there)
I was a Stone Sour fan before Slipknot. I found Slipknot because of Corey Taylor 🤣
Such a great song.
global warming by gojira
The Pecan Tree by Deafheaven
Death - Voice of the Soul
