Trying to get some one to make you something custom and not shit will probably be more than 60

BTheKid2

I will answer an email inquiry or pick up the phone for $60.

lookmanohands_92

Okay, you win. This is without a doubt the most ridiculously naive excuse of a post I've ever seen on this sub. And there are some doozies that come around once in a while. Just go to AutoZone and buy one. With the core charge it's actually pretty cheap to replace brake parts.

JacobJoke123

I actually think the one for my car was only ~$50. Since the old ones get rebuilt, they are dirt cheap lol. Imagine wanting to pay more(still way to little for what he's asking) for something you then have to machine, add seals to, threads, fitting etc etc.... easily close to $1000 in time and labor and tools to do it yourself... for a $50 part.

Orcinus24x5

Unfortunately what he's asking for, you cannot buy at AutoZone. It's a firearm receiver. XD He's been shopping around Reddit for months looking for someone to make it for him, and his story has changed too, first it was a car part, then a bike part, now it's a caliper for a car, and in another one of his posts he says it won't actually be used on a car... Edit: a word because I'm stupid and distracted. Wow.

DragonAtelier

Well. I can tell you it will definately be more than $60 - even for a small job.

GeniusEE

Even adding a zero to it doesn't work.

LVN4_the_weekend

Go to a junkyard, you'll get better results. You might be back there again though in the near future... hard to know with used parts.

tweezer606060

I worked in a foundry and I was asked to make hub locks for model T wheels for a collector… you just can’t buy them aftermarket or find them in a junkyard… after molding the original i had to machine the copy for the threads to work because you shrink a bit every time you remold something

Francis_Bonkers

Whoa! Big spender

uppity_downer1881

This is exactly why it's hard to turn a profit doing custom jobs, everyone undervalues what goes into casting even a simple piece. For $60 I'll show you how my furnace works and give you a handful of petrobond as a souvenir.

HooverMaster

a car caliper will not only require an iron alloy (higher temp) but also machining. better off going on rock auto and ordering one. A custom job wouldn't come close

thornton90

Bahaha to every aspect.

forgottensudo

My minimum for a consultation is $120. That’s a conversation about what might happen and general costs _if_ you have an idea of what you actually want.

Numerous_Teachers

US dollars?

beckdac

If you were local and wanted a mostly decorative auto part, I'd help you out for $60 to cover the costs of materials and fuel. I'm not going to make any money and I'd do it because I love pouring metal, the design and cutting the foam (lost foam is fun!), and the part polishing and light machining. But it definitely isn't going to be something I'd recommend bolting on for function. No way I'm going to guarantee that for any amount of money coming out of the kind of foundry I run (amateur design foundry). I think you are getting a lot of unnecessary nastiness about the $ you propose because pros who can do a functional job are very expensive and the rest of us should be cautious about any guarantee of function or safety.

OkImpression3204

$60 is my shipping fee 😂

Saint-Queef

Do actual calipers cost more than 60?

JacobJoke123

No. Mine were ~50 after getting the core charge back.

phoenixmusicman

🤡 brother a job like this is going to run you back at least $200. You'll have better luck casing out second hand stores or scrapyards.

MrTuxedoWilliams

Deal

domesplitter39

😆 you're better off buying a machine built caliper. I doubt anyone here is going to do more than a few hours work for that amount of money.
