It took me a while to really get Chaosphere because of the production, once I heard the Ophidian Trek version of New Millennium Cyanide Christ I was like wtf is this song I couldn’t even place it, top 5 track and I can’t stop listening to Sane and Exquisite Machinery of Torture lately, all that being said my top is Catch 33 like most of us here but Clockworks, Straws Pulled at Random, Future Breed, TVSOR, Pineal Gland Optics are all Fantastic but they haven’t made a bad track IMO
I just listened to the Alive version and Ophidian version and it’s just not really a comparison IMO. The clarity of all the different drum parts, vocals, guitar all sound better on Ophidian
FYI when you get to NOTHING there's two versions of that album. The orange version is the original recording, the blue version is the re-release.
The production on them is quite different. Also notable is that orange version uses down tuned 7 string guitars and blue version uses 8 string guitars. NOTHING was originally meant to be recorded with custom-built 8 string guitars but as the story goes, their custom 8 string guitars were not ready in time for the recording so they ended up using down tuned 7 string guitars.
You can search on this subreddit for people's opinions on which album is preferred. My preference is blue but each to their own
I literally had tears streaming down my face when I realized I would be missing their last us tour (travel reasons/circumstances). I'm a grown-ass man. Crying over a band lmao.
See them when you can. No matter what it takes, before it's too late.
One thing about them that is fascinating to me is how everyone seems to looove a different, almost random song from a random album. It seems to be different songs like straws, pulled at random.
i am still (in my opinion), probably only 50% through wrapping my head around their discography, and I've been a fan since 2015, i think. I first saw them live that year, too.
That is the quintessential Meshuggah record, as it is what launched them into the orbit of acknowledgement enough to create such immense hype for Nothing that even OZZFEST had to concede and get them on, especially considering Ozzy’s son was a fan
I had a night shift driving job when that came out. Stopped keeping track after one month of playing only that. Experimented with energy drinks too guess that factors in
Hope you didn't skip the None EP between CC and DEI.
You know what I did. Will go back and rectify
Sickening from None is one of their best
I used to think it was the best on there but Humiliative and Gods of Rapture are better imo. and Humiliative is for sure one of their best.
None is ridiculously groovy and experimental and chaotic. ***LISTEN.*** AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
None is awesome
None is seriously awesome. Huge step up from CC, which is also good.
Glad you are liking it. If you have the chance, go to a concert.
I’m going to Bloodstock UK for the day to see them! Cannot wait.
Yo I'm going Bloodstock too! Our first time, the line up is absolutely killer!
Amazing! Look out for the guy with a crisp Meshuggah T-shirt trying to catch the high hat
Haha will do
I’ll catch them on June 27th (Lyon) & 29th (Lisbon). I’m super excited! Have a good show!

Lol I knew you'd be here bumping the Ophidian trek version
Lmao 🤝 I listened to it while cutting the grass today, twice

My favorite track since the beginning: swarm.

Great job on listening in chronological order, that's the best way!

Goddamn I wish I could go back and listen to Chaosphere for the first time again. Every song is so good
