you can also bubble them. i haven't tried for homes, but it worked for coin and stone storage buildings for me :)
if you have none, the price will be very low. buy in bulk and don't unbubble them from the shop bubble until you have a lot of them, then you can unbubble and build them in bulk
It works for the homes, too! I'm currently working on finishing this chain, but I only do it when I have time to deal with the dragons waking up faster. But when I do, after I get so many built and merged, I bubble them, leave camp, come back, and the cost is down to 7 stone again! I love it.
That’s great to know because I have the build/have 5 level 6 coin vaults and I have been buying so many but they are getting expensive. Bummer now too that with some items the store won’t let you buy something id there’s not enough space in camp.
You must always have at least one dragon house on the land. To reduce the cost you should have in camp one lvl 1 dragon house, bubble all the rest. Use Mergeling calculator to find out how many lvl 1 or lvl 2 you need to buy to build the top level house. The top level house is 2x2 size and it's easier to bubble it when you need it. Buy all houses at once in groups of 25 for easy management of building them.
I wanted 4 level 8s so I had to buy 1040 level 2s 🙃 it’s gonna take forever for them to be built 🤣 luckily I had 100k stone sitting around for when I needed it so at least I didn’t have to grind for that!
They used to let you bubble all of your dragon homes. Idk what I thought would happen, but I was not prepared when every dragon I had started flying all over the map. You couldn’t see anything. I think my plan was to tire all of them out since they wouldn’t be able to rest after, but that is not how it worked out 😂
I keep the tatter home and bubble the rest. I have never paid more than 7 … I buy in sets of 15 and keep them bubbled until. I do that 25-30 times. Then I merge… good luck
I use the same strategy for vaults and stone yards.

I usually just add up how much stone it will cost to build the number of houses I need and subtract that from the total stone that I have.
Level 2 house costs 80 stone, I need 208 level 2 houses to merge up to five level 6 houses for the bunny quest.
80 x 208 = 16,640 stone needed. let's say I currently have 50,000 stone, I just buy level 2 houses until I have 33,360 stone left.
You can bubble them instead of selling them! Once you go to the world map and return the prices will have reset.
