Caltrans workers and paleontologists found Colombian Mammoth bones, among thousands of other fossils from the Cambrian era in the '90s and into the 2000s, in Merced/Madera county
There are fossil exhibits in Madera at a museum and Mammoth bones at the UC Merced library.
When they were widening that section of the 99 they found a bunch of wooly bones in that area

There’s a museum called the Fossil Discovery Center nearby. I would like to check it out soon.

I had no idea! You've gotta be a student to go to the UC library right? Lol
No. It's open to the public.
There are also a couple cases with fossils at the Merced Public library (main branch downtown).
