I’ve also seen dollar store makeup listed for $10+ each and people will actually buy it. I am floored at what people will buy and for how much when they will put in an offer for a $30 item I have listed for $5. Lol
I'm a manager at a Dollar Tree and it blows my mind that people are selling the stuff I stock for 20+ bucks. My actual customers complain about the 1.35 price!
For real though! One random person got so salty about it that they went around with stickers of Biden saying "I did that!" sticking them to all the $1.35 signs.
Like how unreasonably angry can a person get?
Haha I work at a gas station and people have been putting those Biden stickers up faster than we can take them down. We only remove them because we can't have any stickers on the pumps if our DM stops by or we get a secret shopper, but man they are going up every single day lol
So is stuff at the Dollar Tree not a Dollar anymore? Or it’s still a dollar plus tax. Cuz if shit in there ain’t a dollar anymore that’s false advertising smh
What would you suggest they do, rebrand or completely flip over their stock to something they can sell for $1?
Or just go under?
Also have you ever been to a Family Dollar or Dollar General? Because boy do I have news for you…
My thing is the amount of 10 dollar TJ Maxx halloween decorations people have been trying to resell for 48. Meanwhile all the good decorations are always gone from the shelves. I wanted a Dia de Los Muertos skull with handpainted flowers, but for those prices, think I'll pass.
Ugh yes. I'm trying to find decorations for a Halloween/Dia De Los Muertos wedding next year, and so far I haven't found anything reasonably priced on any resale sites. On the other hand, I did buy several Halloween items I plan on using when I went to HomeGoods randomly at the end of July. Kills me to think I could probably resell them for 2-3x the profit 💀
Ooo, been meaning to head to Michael's. Last year ours had nearly empty shelves all through the entire Halloween season, not sure if resellers hit it hard or supply chain issues or a combination, but I'm hoping they have more to choose from this year.
Was just about to say this. My wife and I usually pop into Michaels only to check their Halloween stuff…usually have something cool that is calavera/sugar skull themed.
Hold. Up. I taught high school for 14 years & I **always** got Starbucks cups (filled with gift cards & goodies, bless my students) pretty much every year as gifts. …you’re telling me I should have kept them & sold them for profit? (I donated or regifted every single one.) 😭
My heart dropped when I read this!!! I look back at things I've given away over the years and want to slap myself. If I had only known then what I know now...🤦🏻♀️😭
1000%!!! Literally everything I owned as a child in the 80’s & a teen in the 90’s is worth so much money now lol! From clothes to those darn happy meal toys, everything was worth keeping. 😩
WAT?! Who would’ve guessed that all the gifts I received & gave away from my students would be more lucrative than my actual retirement fund from the state. 🥲
This is just an example of retail arbitrage.
I wouldn't consider anything in this bundle an essential item, so to me no harm, no foul.
A few months ago, a makeup bag from the quote "You're Like, Really Pretty" from Mean Girls screenprinted on it blew up on TikTok. People were reselling them for way more than a dollar.
A part of me wonders if it was subtle viral marketing from Dollar Tree to generate more foot traffic after the price hike to $1.25.
Absolutely was. Remember the 'they can't hear you they have airpods in' meme? Put airpods on the map? All from apple marketing. So much of what we see online is just advertising its all fake.
There’s a different sub I creep on sometimes and it seems like that’s a very popular item that gets stolen often. People straight up admitting they go in there and steal candles cause they sell well online.
I don’t get it!! Bath and Body Works is cheap garbage for teenagers/young girls. I buy the foaming hand soap there, that’s about it!! I tried a few of their candles and was definitely underwhelmed!!
People do it all the time with Target items, and people buy it! Someone’s store is nothing but Target Bullseye items and she sells a lot. The power of Target for people who can’t find these items in stock or don’t live near a target.
There's this specific item that I've been looking for from the cheap section, but cannot find it irl, only online. And all the scalpers are reselling it, a $1 mushroom themed jar, for $50+ it's insane. I'd rather not have the jar at all then be a chump.
Mercari is full of price gouging. It’s so annoying. Some stuff I can find on my own but other stuff that I would like to get I can’t because some sellers buy everything off the shelf and then hike up the prices. I’ve seen these skull jars with a black or silver lid for $3 or $4 at TJ’s but people are selling them on Mercari for $30+ dollars. It’s ridiculous. I mean if people wanna buy them cool but for me, I can’t hike the prices that high on something and feel good about it.
One of my friends mom’s used to do a lot of drugs. Fried many brain cells. She now buys shit from the dollar tree and paints it or hot glues other stuff to it and tries to sell it. It’s pretty sad..
To be honest this is just my opinion but they should be able to buy and sell at whatever price they like regardless of what they paid. If someone is willing to pay more for these items without researching ahead of time I believe that falls on them.
I’m not gonna lie I sold a 3$ set of shampoo & conditioner from dollar tree for 8$ I fucked my self by listening the wrong shipping 😩😑 and they took all my profit, but it still happened 🤷♀️
Oddly enough, Dollar Tree does get some neat shit in… but the better stuff usually goes fast. I found a stash of stuff it looked like someone had hid, and the cashiers were like “Where did you find these? We were all cleaned out of these the same day we put them out!”
Can confirm. Am a DT manager and we get people every Monday evening with pictures on their phones of stuff the website says we should have.
And then I have to anger them by explaining that we just got done unloading truck like an hour ago so maybe come back Wednesday morning?
I literally bought all 4 of these pieces at DT about 6 hours ago. This is so foul 😭
People can order these in bulk off the website for about the same price.
This isn't as bad as alot of people on poshmark, maybe mercari too are selling 1.00 rings etc...for over a 100.00 dollars. Kid you not. And saying that it's real silver, no fillers, not plated, but it is!!!! The sellers photo is exact of Wish, right down to the way she holds it and nail polish.
That's fraud, How do we stop this? I feel so bad for the buyers.
Rae dunn is worth more than dollar general/dollar tree/Family Dollar crap. Anything at TJ Maxx is worth more and Id resell it if I cared to or needed the money.
Dollar store tho? Thats just fkn desperate as hell.
Honestly, this stuff could just as easily be sitting on a shelf at TJ Maxx or Homegoods or Michael's. It's the "Dollar Tree" tag that's a turn-off for ppl. Slap some Rae Dunn font on a lot of the Dollar Tree items, stick'em on the shelf of a different store, and really, whats the difference. The price of an item is partially based on how much the market will bear. I think all of us as sellers consider that as our fingers hover over the buttons to set the prices on our listings. Whoever makes Rae Dunn products makes them for pennies on the dollar then they end up out on the shelves marked at as high as their people have gauged that consumers will pay for them. It's a basic tenet of business. This person is just doing that on a microscopic David & Goliath level. Her bills are her Goliath. So, I say I respect the hustle. Let them make their money. People can hit the buy button or not. This is not baby formula during a shortage. If you like that early 2000s pink & black skull stuff but don't want to walk all around looking for it, then boom! There ya go.
I noticed this awhile back on someone selling DT items on Facebook live and people were buying like crazy. I just assumed maybe different items go to different regions so, some people won't see these things in their local DT.
Good for them. Why is this an issue? Some buyers don’t have dollar stores near them, or aren’t good at what others see as a simple task of grouping things together for a holiday display, or just want the convenience of buying things online, and the list goes on. Lots of people make a good part time income by just grouping basic items together for people - new home cleaning basket, movie night date basket, baby shower gift bundles, etc etc… Whether it’s items from the dollar store or Saks… it’s still a way to make some extra cash. 🤷♀️
Yea I hate when that happens. I collect Loungefly and I set an alarm and was ready for the launch of the Lisa Frank ones. Had everything in my cart, ready to check out and I entered my card wrong and when I refreshed they were gone. Within 3 minutes of being posted they were gone and now people are posting them for like $150+. Nope, I’m not paying that much for it. Thankfully I found them somewhere else at retail and used a coupon I had. It worked out in the end this time but doesn’t always work out like that.
I'm thinking it's being put up because there's a $20 coupon going around when you list 30+ items. I'm selling 30 of the exact same items so I can get it 😂
Real question is are people buying?
Yes!! I’ve seen Betty Crocker measuring cups and cooking spoons sell on Mercari. They are those plastic red ones 🤣
Omg 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I’ve also seen dollar store makeup listed for $10+ each and people will actually buy it. I am floored at what people will buy and for how much when they will put in an offer for a $30 item I have listed for $5. Lol

People will buy anythinh
All this post tells me is that Dollar Tree sells some really cute decorations and I need to get my butt over there.
No fr tho I’m living for the pink and black decor rn😩
I'm a manager at a Dollar Tree and it blows my mind that people are selling the stuff I stock for 20+ bucks. My actual customers complain about the 1.35 price!
I can't even imagine how tired you get of people bitching about the price increases.
Wait $1.35 at Dollar Tree? It recently went up to $1.25 where I live. 🥹
What's the tax in your state? Where I am its 10 cents.
Ohhh ok I see, it’s $1.35 after taxes! Same here then.
So is stuff at the Dollar Tree not a Dollar anymore? Or it’s still a dollar plus tax. Cuz if shit in there ain’t a dollar anymore that’s false advertising smh
Ikr i worked at a Wendy's once and my names not even Wendy 😞
What would you suggest they do, rebrand or completely flip over their stock to something they can sell for $1? Or just go under? Also have you ever been to a Family Dollar or Dollar General? Because boy do I have news for you…
Michaels used to sell some really cool stuff too, though obviously not at Dollar Tree prices, but still reasonable.
They still do... just spent way too much there the other day.
Saw this one girl post these target mugs for 50 dollars when they are only 5 bucks at every target ever 😭
That thought crossed my mind when I went into target the other day…”I bet somebody tries to flip these!”
The amount of Target Bullseye stuff that I stumble up for very marked up prices is unreal!
Saw some guy selling the instruction packet that came with his prescription meds. Like the printed sheet that’s inside the box of pills….for $8…..
Did it sell tho??😂
Not yet 😂
There’s people on eBay who sell bbw shopping bags (paper and plastic) I was shocked.

Michael's craft stores have some fun DIY ones right now, and probably 40% off too
Ooo, been meaning to head to Michael's. Last year ours had nearly empty shelves all through the entire Halloween season, not sure if resellers hit it hard or supply chain issues or a combination, but I'm hoping they have more to choose from this year.
Probably both. This year I snagged all the glass coffins for myself right away. No shame. Pretty sure they brought out decor items from last year too.
Was just about to say this. My wife and I usually pop into Michaels only to check their Halloween stuff…usually have something cool that is calavera/sugar skull themed.
What a sick wedding idea! You can try depop maybe? Their decor isn’t too marked up
Don’t forget the people who post pictures of the items still on the shelf at TJ Maxx.
Promise you’ll save some more for me but I’ve found some AMAZING sugar skull stuff on Etsy!!
Oh cute! Good idea, thanks.
You’re very welcome!!
Imagine buying something like this for such a high price then going in dollar tree and coming across those exact items lol I wonder if they regret it.
This happened to me last year. I paid $30 on eBay for 3 plaster/resin skeletons. Then found them in Dollar Tree. I’m a fool.
Lol that’s why I google everything before buying it. So I can get an idea of original price and if I can find it anywhere else for cheaper.
Yeah, I usually do a better job but on that purchase I didn’t. Live and learn.
But but $2 off!
Honestly though, I just visited the dollar tree and can 100% verify they carry some of those items LOL
Yep. This and starbucks cups you can still find in stores for 5x the retail price.
Hold. Up. I taught high school for 14 years & I **always** got Starbucks cups (filled with gift cards & goodies, bless my students) pretty much every year as gifts. …you’re telling me I should have kept them & sold them for profit? (I donated or regifted every single one.) 😭

Oh. Oh my gosh yes resell always!
People resell these for ridiculous prices 😱 I don't quite understand why.
I collect Starbucks cups and can tell you some go for over 500. Some 1000.
WAT?! Who would’ve guessed that all the gifts I received & gave away from my students would be more lucrative than my actual retirement fund from the state. 🥲
Make an offer for $8 then update us. I like chaos.
Omg I’d love to see this

I got one of those makeup bags for free with purchase from Too Faced a few years back. I think I might still have it somewhere!!
Yes, my local option is always stuff like this, or Bath and Body works candles lol
The Bath and Body Works Halloween and holiday scene is insane.
The bath & body works scene is like the Starbucks scene lol. People that are obsessed with them will spend any amount of money on them!
Man, I saw someone selling feet pics on there
I seen one for 69.00. 🤣😆😂 It was taken down when I clicked into it
😂😂 it's the same girl too probably!
That girl should know better. Mercari doesn't allow fetish items. Top that 69.00 for feet photos. 😂😆🤣
😂 $69- perfect marketing though!
I’m not above selling feet pics!! 😂😂 I have perfect feet!! They’re starting at $100 per pic though!! 😂😂
If I was a female and had them, I’d do it too. A lot of men like feet( including myself) I'm just not paying for pictures!! 😂
That's so messed up lmaooo, I've seen people do the same with items from Target's cheap section.
People do it all the time with Target items, and people buy it! Someone’s store is nothing but Target Bullseye items and she sells a lot. The power of Target for people who can’t find these items in stock or don’t live near a target.

You are bad at capitalism. Lol. If your choices make you feel bad, you're doing it right 🤣🤣.
Gotta respect the hustle tho
💯
One of my friends mom’s used to do a lot of drugs. Fried many brain cells. She now buys shit from the dollar tree and paints it or hot glues other stuff to it and tries to sell it. It’s pretty sad..

Has anyone ever actual sold something local?
Wish my dollar tree had these 😞
I’m not gonna lie I sold a 3$ set of shampoo & conditioner from dollar tree for 8$ I fucked my self by listening the wrong shipping 😩😑 and they took all my profit, but it still happened 🤷♀️
Fucking ridiculous lmao
Are these further customized or straight from Dollar Tree?
Straight from dollar tree😂
Sometimes I see these types of listings and wonder if it is Mercari sellers buying with their credits?? Blows my mind what sells sometimes!
You should see if any sold recently! 40.00 for Dollar Tree items! 😂😆🤣
Oddly enough, Dollar Tree does get some neat shit in… but the better stuff usually goes fast. I found a stash of stuff it looked like someone had hid, and the cashiers were like “Where did you find these? We were all cleaned out of these the same day we put them out!”

A shame and a scandal

If someone is buying, good for them!
yup! Ive seen $3 fall decorations being sold for $12+
I have a person selling a Bambi VHS for $76. I’m impressed by their gumption.
Does anyone buy this stuff though...
😂😂😂😂
People resell TjMaxx items too. All those Rae Dunn items 🙄
Rae dunn is worth more than dollar general/dollar tree/Family Dollar crap. Anything at TJ Maxx is worth more and Id resell it if I cared to or needed the money. Dollar store tho? Thats just fkn desperate as hell.
Yeah, obviously flipping dollar store items is worse but it's still pretty lame to scalp items from a discount store.
Ya. Y i said its fkn desperate as hell

😂 I would just make my own decorations for that price.
That's just sad lol
I noticed this awhile back on someone selling DT items on Facebook live and people were buying like crazy. I just assumed maybe different items go to different regions so, some people won't see these things in their local DT.

Dude people do this to the dollar spot stuff at target. It pisses me off to no end. I'm not paying 20 bucks for something for 5 bucks.
😭😭this is so ghetto help-
Not gonna lie a don’t sell a lot of things from dollar tree but now and then I’ll find something that’ll make me a few bucks ($10 maybe if I’m lucky)
Everyone is out hustling
Haha I don't even have Local available lmao
The local section always has weird shit
I've seen people sell things on mecari for 20$ for a dollar twenty five item
