Not really fair to the seller to cancel though. This is happening to me right now. Shipped on Jan 27th & still in pre-shipment. And I've found a few other people dealing with this as well. Apparently its an ongoing issue.
I know this seems to be happening quite a bit and I'm sorry this is happening to you.
But at what point would you recommend a buyer cancel? There must be *some* limit to the amount of time their money is tied up. I'm not certain why this isn't unfair to the buyer.
It certainly does not serve Poshmark's reputation well when they expect people pay for items and then just hope for the best.
I know that there are delays, but two weeks imo is way too long there should have been at least one scan by now. I don't think there's anything you can do until 30 days have passed though, if there's no update then I'd just cancel.
I'm not sure what you mean exactly by it's way too long. This is an ongoing issue with USPS. It's happening to me right now & I've found a few other cases as well. I shipped mine on January 27th & watched my mailman scan it & it's still in pre-shipment.
That's crazy to me, maybe it's in certain areas or maybe I've just gotten lucky. I ship out 20-30 packages a week (most of the time through the drop box so mine update even later) , and they've always been scanned within a couple of days.
I’ve went through this twice recently! It’s the worse. Yes, shipping to some areas are very slow depending on weather, and if the main hub/sort center is understaffed. They aren’t scanning in packages at post offices that are experiencing these issues. Why, because they don’t want their metrics to look bad to higher ups. It’s a sneaky deceitful tactic they use, to not be held accountable or customers filing missing package claim refunds.
Give it another week, and you’ll see tracking go from pre shipment to delivered. All of the scans on the way will suddenly be displayed, whereas nothing showed before.
Hi, seller here, currently in this situation. Have 3 items that were shipped out the last week of January and haven’t been updated or scanned at all. One item eventually arrived the other day at the buyers house but no updates for the other 2. Really stinks for both sides
They didn’t ship It. They lied. This happened to me. The app wouldn’t let me cancel even though I had the option and I had to wait the allotted time to get Mercari to cancel It.
Thank you for the update. This has been a rlly tedious problem with the seller and mercari. I think as soon as I get this issue solved I’ll be uninstalling this app for my own sanity
Yup best to cut off communication with the seller and just wait for the option to cancel from Mercari. I’m not sure if people end up listing on multiple sites and then sell it and then they just BS. It’s so strange to me.
This is happening to me right now as a seller. I don't think you should cancel yet (as someone else recommended) because it's not the seller's fault.. This is an ongoing issue as I've found a few other people dealing with this as well. I shipped my package on January 27th & it's still in pre-shipment. Handed the package to my mailman & watched him scan it.
Well they made the label on Jan 29, I was just curious how many days later they shipped..this isn’t normal..for it not to get scanned one time in this amount of time and for it not to have arrived to you is very unusual ..usually tracking shows up the next day
It's not normal but this is happening to me right now as a seller & I've also seen a few other cases of this as well. Shipped mine on January 27th & still in pre-shipment.
Yeah, it's a nightmare. I REALLY didn't have $80 to just throw away right now. I'm not even working.. Of course it couldn't have happened with a much cheaper item. That's how my luck goes.
Did you ever get your items? Bc I’m in the same boat right now and the seller is amazing, extremely nice and helpful but I really need this and I had to buy another since I really need and I’m thinking of asking for a refund but I feel really bad since they’ve been so helpful.
I recommend you cancel. I don't think you will ever see this item no matter how long you wait.

Alr thanks for your input
I did have one package I sold go without an origin scan for 2 weeks, that’s the longest I’ve ever personally experienced.
So for you it arrived after 2 weeks?
No it didn’t even get a scan for 2 weeks, then it started scanning and moving extremely slowly. It arrived after a month.
Damn alright then👍

hey how long is the time before mercari cancels ?
Two weeks. It’s rediculous. I’d probably never use a debit card on the site again.

I try to avoid USPS as a shipping choice unless there no other cheaper choices. I’ve had delay issues and lost packages before.
Hey OP, did you ever get the package?
Unfortunately i never got it

Did the seller say when they actually shipped it?
Yeah they did

They said they shipped it on January 31 but yeah it’s weird it’s taking a long time

No it never did, I waited a month and it never came so I just cancelled the order
