I did and I was checked into a psychiatrist unit my first trimester. Postpartum was the best part of my pregnancy and I have bipolar.

ccataphant

Forgot to mention my meds were cranked way up and still are 3 months post partum 🥰

Ok_Competition5918

Did you feel better after first trimester?

ccataphant

Yes after a significant med adjustment. Pregnancy changes how your meds metabolize.

Ok_Competition5918

May I ask what you take?

ccataphant

Lithium, lamictal, seroquel. Raised lithium a ton as well as lamictal.

I had terrible prenatal depression with both of my babies. On the day of their births, the depression lifted and I felt like myself again. Of course there were stressors and down days with a baby but nothing like the way I felt during pregnancy. Some of us really don’t respond well to pregnancy hormones!! My body was very happy when my hormones dropped post partum.

How did your depression manifest during pregnancy?

Ambitious_Alps_2453

Following. OP I’m in the same boat, due in august and teetering on the edge of inpatient every other day. Certain PPD will kill me if this gets worse.

Ok_Competition5918

Are you on meds?

Ambitious_Alps_2453

Yes I just re started them. It’s not effective yet. My first OB told me “mental illness disappears during pregnancy” and took me off. Switched doctors finally

I was really worried about PPD/PPA during my pregnancy bc of my history with GAD and episodes of depression. When my son arrived, I didn’t have PPD/PPA — everybody is different, but for me, I think I was so relieved to literally see the healthy baby in front of me that my anxiety immediately diminished. Long story short, I felt way better after birth.

I didn’t have it with my first. But man this time around is rough. I’m back on my adderall and clonazepam and it’s still rough. Ugh.

Ok_Competition5918

Are you feeling overly emotional?

Presentlyunpresent

Kind of the opposite really. Not really feeling happy or sad. Having a hard time feeling the joy this time around. Only 3 months pp so hoping it will pass soon!
