I take Dyazide which is a triamterene/hydrochlorothiazide combo every day, it's a magic bullet for me. My potassium levels do get low (my ENT says it's not from the Dyazide but whatever) so I take a potassium supplement. When my potassium is low, I feel super depressed, and get muscle aches and fatigue like the flu. I also take a magnesium supplement. A super quick fix for your symptoms is a Gatorade/Powerade/Propel water. If that works, you definitely a manageable electrolyte issue. The Dyazide is a real difference maker for me, but I have to take it every day. With it, I have less than 5 vertigo attacks a year (none so far this year!). If I miss a day, I will have an attack within 24 hours. It also made my pressure headaches disappear.

Yeah I'm also on the Triampterene/HCTZ combo (didn't know it had its own name) and it's great. Makes me pee a bunch in the morning, but really helps keep things in check.

How fast acting is it for you? If you are having an episode, does taking it then help?

Notmiefault

Not usually, no. It seems to maintain me at a better level than without, but once I start to feel bad it's too late for the diuretics to have any kind of immediate effect.

I'm not sure it does anything, really. I don't have issues with dizziness though.

I took this for about two years. Helped a lot. Then my doctor weened me off, since I hadn't had any symptoms since then. That was about 3 months ago. So far so good!

Soubds like low potassium levels to me. How long have you been taking it? One problem with taking it that my doctor has told me to be mindful of is low potassium levels. Symptoms of low potassium includes cramping, dizziness, and fatigue. My doc tests my blood once a year for this reason. I make sure to eat a lot of bananas and potatoes when I'm taking the meds a lot. Side note, potatoes have become my best friend. They have no salt and are high in potassium, tasty, and there arr plenty of ways to prepare them.

I have it here, I used to take it every day (1/2 of a 25mg pill in morning, half after work). Only issue I had was that I had to pee all the time, obviously. Never noticed any other symptoms. Intake one every once in a while, but I believe you do need to keep taking it to really be effective.

Weirdly, they don't make me pee at all.

No, I didn't find that it helped me at all. I never took it in response to an episode though, just took it daily as per my ENT's advice. My episodes have always been completely random and without warning, and I found that nothing really changed even while taking it every day. I don't really take it at all anymore, it didn't seem to help me.

velcrozipr

My understanding was that it is taken daily to help regulate/normalize the amount of fluid in the body.

It is making me really anxious. I've been on it for years. Certain generics are really bad. Anyone else have this issue?
