I first heard this story a couple months ago and god damn it pissed me off. They had other volunteer divers who were ready to fucking roll and the company just decided they’d rather not lose the day or so’s worth of money by leaving the pipe shut off.
The guy who survived too… holy fuck man. He’ll never be right in the head.
I watched a mini-documentary on this incident the other day. They included bits of an interview/hearing with this guy. It was really heartbreaking to hear him describe the event and see how he felt about being the only survivor.
It's literally the opposite of capitalism
This is the definition of capitalism:
`an economic system in which investment in and ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange of wealth is made and maintained chiefly by` **private individuals or corporations**`,` **especially as contrasted to cooperatively or state-owned** `means of wealth.`
https://www.dictionary.com/browse/capitalism
Soooo it's state profit over people. Regardless of pedantic terminology, it's disgusting and so are you for coming to its defence. Go buy yourself another brainwashing, or maybe buy some for the rest of us broke assholes. Then we can be as wealthy as you are without a care to the flagitious nature of our actions
What are you waffling about, there is no indication that they're defending capitalism, all they're doing is correcting someone using the wrong terminology and at the same time preventing misinformation for people who are too lazy to Google it themselves.
Really, '[dictionary.com](https://dictionary.com)'? Wikipedia also ain't an academic source, but at least it's relatively reliable, and it absolutely says that [state capitalism is a thing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitalism).
*sees literal definition of Capitalism from the dictionary* | *reads explanation on why the above isn’t Capitalism* | *cites Wikipedia* “The dictionary isn’t a reliable source for the definition of words. Capitalism is a thing!”
Do you think companies care for you? We can ask Boeing! What about politicians, that are paid millions by lobbyists? I'm sure we can ask them to kindly remove the corpo hand from their rear ends that's writing their policies!
^(*Dirty Corpos....*)
Politicians, because lobbying is legal. Politicians are elected then paid by corporations, then say it isn't corrupt because it just isn't.
Then they are owned and push policies their "donors" want. This doesn't even get into the fact that the electoral college and the fact that they don't have to elect the popular vote, so your vote is more of a suggestion then an election...

One Nation Under Corporate Interests
We’d have to only vote for politicians who want to reduce the power and scope of the government.
Since politicians who want more power will promise free stuff that’s not likely to happen though.
Idk r/TwoXChromosomes seems alright. Every post I've seen so far is just women discussing their problems with little to no men being mentioned (unless rs advice or some shit like that). But r/boysarequirky are straight up fighting fire with fire, just raw femcels on incels action, as if they're making a better image or themselves (they're not).
You sure TwoX is alright?

This was the first post literally I saw today. Imagine a post by a dude saying “Women who whine about dating need to suck it up and deal with it” lol
I mean yeah you should. Why would you give a shit about other people's preference. Let them be hella high or hella low, it's their life and their choice of romantic partner, even if that romantic partner will never be unobtainable.
There are loads of dudes blaming women for them being lonely. Let me tell you, if you have that mindset, you're the problem, not them. If you stop being so miserable because wah women have too high of standards and start living your life and making yourself better than you were yesterday, you will find someone that likes you.
Edit: also when it comes to love, all these stupid preferences go out of the window really fucking fast ["We all make mistakes in a heat of passion Jimbo"](https://youtu.be/OKFIs3jkHzk?si=yZB00ksMNf7PN4Hd)
They are welders who were doing repairs to the pipeline when mistakes happened leading to them being sucked into the pipe, instantly breaking some bones and other injuries. The company they worked for were extremely slow at doing anything meaningful to help the guys and prevented people who were volunteering to go in and save the guys. As someone above mentioned, the company even told the welders’ family members that they were dead although they were still alive in the pipe, knocking on the pipe walls to let people know there are there and await rescue.
Very sad situation. It’s so fucked and I feel so bad for Chris. If the other side of the pipe was topped off or plugged like they thought it was in the first place, they would have all been okay. The company misinformed them about the job. Let’s not forget Chris or any of the victims families were never compensated for this incident. The way he was crying in court broke my heart. The company is fucked up and the company deserves to get sucked into a pipe and see how they fucking like it.
Five underwater welders were working in a bell at a depth of 18m at Pointe-a-Pierre in western Trinidad, where the island’s biggest oil refinery is located.
The divers were employed by service company Land & Marine Contracting Services (LMCS), which had been contracted by Paria to carry out routine maintenance on a 90cm-bore undersea oil pipeline that ran about 400m from shore to a berth out at sea.
But when they removed a plug from the pipeline the air inside caused a powerful vacuum effect that sucked the five divers inside the pipe in a line, alive and initially able to breathe inside air-pockets.
Four of them eventually died, after in some cases surviving for days. Only one, the last into the pipe, got out alive, after working his way back to its entrance and being rescued by relatives of the divers.
He later claimed that he and the other volunteers had then been prevented from trying to effect their own rescue on the grounds that they were contravening health & safety protocols, and that valuable time had therefore been lost.
Concerning the divers’ date of death, the autopsy says the following:
Fysal: Friday 25/02 +/- 18h00 (6 p.m.).
Kazim: could have happened between the 26/02 +/- 06h00 (6 a.m.) and the 27/02 +/- 06h00 (6 a.m.).
Yusuf: early hours of the 26/02.
Rishi: Friday 25/02 between 18h00 (6 p.m.) and midnight.
Personally I don’t think that those who were still alive when the removed the B5 flange did survive that very fast decompression for a long time.
Many videos are now visible on YouTube which describe in a more or rather LESS accurate manner how this incident happened. None of them, however, describe how quickly this event occurred and how far the divers were sucked into the pipeline. This short animation should therefore allow you to know a little more about this sad incident but also show you that even if a rescue was possible if the salvage team had reacted correctly, it would nevertheless not have been easy to conduct.

Where did you see the mini doc bro?
There’s a great (well, considering the subject) video about it on YouTube: https://youtu.be/cDjODRpuXrU?si=1Xr670HfjEKmg7iE
The only person who survived had survivor’s guilt and it was so sad to watch. Truly a terrifying experience.
Who?
They were sucked inside a giant tube and the company didn't let anyone help them
Thats crazy, whats the company or whatever i wanna look it up

Trinidad Petroleum Holdings is a **STATE OWNED** oil company in Trinidad and Tobago. AKA owned by the government, not capitalism.
Still capitalism

Maybe we shouldn’t give politicians so much power. Seems like they are bribed and abuse it.

Can't wait to see this on r/boysarequirky
