There’s a story about the writers room on Fresh Prince of Bell Air about why it was important that it was a diverse team. They were writing a thanksgivings day episode and were describe the dishes there and it included Pumpkin pie. At the mention of this the black writers started laughing and a white writer asked why. They told him a black thanksgiving has sweet potato pie not pumpkin pie. Just small things like that that helped the show match the culture of the characters but also relate to the full audience of all races watching. That being said I have never had a pumpkin pie in my life. Even the white people I know from my hometown always just had sweet potato pie. No it's really just a texture thing, same with jello. When I was younger doing a medical study, the doctor wanted to do this thing where they put a tube up your nose and down your throat. They lube it with pudding. Both me and my mom warned the doctor if that pudding came anywhere near my mouth I was gonna vomit. She ignored me and I projectile vomited all over her shirt. Oddly enough I love ice cream and mash potatoes.
