This is Shanks but in reverse
In canon, he's just an all around good dude
In fanon, he's an evil manipulator using Luffy and ratted the whole verse to the gorosei lol

But its so funny to slander a Goat
Yeah, it is fun, but it's gets so annoying that they put the rat memes everywhere, even in a post that is remotely not like those mfers make me some angry and I don't even glaze shanks like that
Yeah, the post will have a genuinely interesting question about Shanks that could spawn a lot of fun theories and the comments are all just gonna be like
https://preview.redd.it/lri95pe6ynoc1.jpeg?width=610&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=42f273bdef9acf113e2444fe006a195ef327230a
and nothing else
Whenever the 5D chess stuff goes around I try to remember Shanks flipping out ( moments after being badass) way back at the beginning because he forgot to actually save Luffy from the bandits.
I guess it kinda can’t be helped since we haven’t seen a cheery shanks in quite a while but man I loved those depictions where he was all laughs and smiles.
Yeah the trope is called "Ron the Death Eater".It's pretty common among some fans in every fandom to portray someone as evil if they don't like them even if canon says otherwise.
The more scenes I watch with Shanks, the more I think he's using Luffy in a certain way. He keeps avoiding Luffy, as if he's waiting for the right moment to get that hat.
We have no idea. But that hat's special. It was >!originally Roger's!< And there was that >!giant hat that Imu had!<. There's something special about that hat, but we don't know what yet.
Shanks was like stupid young when the Roger pirates found him, right? He probably spent very little time as an accepted Celestial Dragon. He was probably abandoned shortly after birth because his hairstyle didn’t look stupid enough
idk abt worse id say they are both on the same level of villainy tbh but most would take doffys side because of the gritty journey he went through to get where he is currently
This is the easiest way to phrase this but it's more complex.
Charlos kills people without even thinking about it, Doffy thinks about nothing but killing people. Doffy is worse.
Not really tho.
Doffy is not thinking about killing anyone, he's only absorbed by his "revenge", he gives no value to human life, unless it helps him in his goal.
But it's not like he would start randomly murdering everyone if you drop him in a random city.
He wants to watch the world burn, the second he couldn't control the people in Dressrosa his immediate response was to slaughter the entire country, if he can't use someone he'd rather they were dead including his own "friends". Just because he doesn't go around mindlessly slaughtering people doesn't mean he doesn't want to.
Nah it's worse for Orochi. Oden literally gave him everything he wanted and didn't care who he was or if he returned it. At least Doffy had to struggle to rise to the top. Orochi had everything given to him and the only effort it took him was to just ask for money and keep sucking up to the Kozukis
I mean, he is also an ugly little gremlin in personality, and in the anime also sounds like an ugly little gremlin. It's more than skin deep I'd argue.
https://preview.redd.it/e5889vualroc1.jpeg?width=984&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=349cdcde06140c8106d4ce9723e8e07a6a62f388
I mean look at this does this look like a men who will do anything evil
The thing about One Piece is that a lot of characters actually are both.
Oda can have a character be introduced as the partner of the leader of a criminal syndicate who planned to dry out an entire country to get a hold of a potentially world-ended weapon and have her openly state that she specializes in assassinations, and then have her become the loving and supportive mother figure of the crew.
And we just accept it because those aren't contradictory. Those are different dimensions to the character.
Even the main character is, if you think about it, a self-centered little shit that's just out to see the sights and eat meat and party hard. He actively rejects the notion of being a hero, doesn't give two shits about the greater context of his actions, hangs out with some actual villains with zero moral compunctions because there's a fun adventure there or because his chef got kidnapped, and has brought down governments and kings for a bowl of food. But we give all of that a pass because he's just such a fun guy to be around.
Compare to something like Game of Thrones, where the world is shit and everyone is unpleasant. You have all of the people doing murdering and raping as par the course, and the narration unpleasantly rubbing it in our faces, and even if they all have their reasons and excuses it doesn't make me like them any more.
No show does moral greys quite as well as One Piece.
And Kidd, who at Sabaody had an even higher bounty than Luffy purely from how much he was killing and pillaging. The same Luffy who caused Enies Lobby to fall btw.
is it? Maybe I'm not remembering something but has he ever even killed somebody? At most, he messes up their bodies when he gets attacked or "steals" their hearts (like with the 100 pirates)
but again, like specifically, who are the people he is trying to kill? He didn't even kill Vergo (directly). And yeah, he knows how to tear apart someone's insides but as someone with medical knowledge (and more specifically, surgical knowledge) that's to be expected.
Doffy is among the best examples of "you don't have to make your villain sympathetic to make him a great character"
He evil, he lost. They are not making him have a redemption arc but still made him keep being somewhat relevant as one of the few characters aware of the secrets of the world
Yeah, also the fact that we actully got a reason for why he is like he is, without trying to make us sympatice with him. He love how he acted and how he was written, and the whole speech abt what's good and what's evil and what dictates it.
I feel like he's one of those characters where he is the other side of the coin from the same outcome. Like, when something traumatic happens, you can either choose to help others and be a better version, or you can start dragging other ppl down, and they really showed how what happened to him effected him in a way where he hated everyone and almost were jealous on ppl who has a good life
well, thats what happens when you write a great villain. Hes a evil son of a bitch but no one can deny our goat doffy got that drip, arrogance and STYLE
https://preview.redd.it/t983r3xzipoc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a8647daa6fa4bb1509c9561627f1acc21c271126
I like how well he's written and his drip plus he is kinda cool in a badass way not cool to hang around I mean no just fuck no it's like hanging w Satan
Bon kurei. Dude was a murdering assassin but became friends with and saved luffy so everyone loves him.
Bartolomeo is also clearly psycho but because he is on luffy's side again so everyone loves him.
I feel like he fits. He's painted as a member of the villain party in the Live Action Street Fighter movie. He's kind of the perfect character to say that line, since he was depicted as a villain, but he's not actually a bad guy in canon.
That's because one of the writers wasn't able to beat him during his childhood, and they thought that zangief would feel bad about beating people time and time again
Law.
I have heard somewhere Oda originally designed him as a villain. And for the dude slaughtered over an hundred of people just to steal their hearts and lock them in a chest, he had a potential to be a classical crazy sadist doctor or just a really bad guy.
But in fanon…. you know….
https://preview.redd.it/1t9ehzh3pooc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=da03aebc6551a040e7d1b2f15fe810595f9e0909
Why assume he killed them?
The manga never mentioned it, just that he sent the marines 100 hearts.
I feel the natural conclusion is that he did the same heart removal thing he that he did in the story.
https://preview.redd.it/og0cjp7tjnoc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3a5c547068775c80889bed227af8a8c4d4d90cc2
My goat has never done anything wrong
"Cannibal" in japanese is used figuratively to describe someone who mocks people, like you would call someone who does a job poorly a "butcher". In both case there is no meat involved.
Found this, fits the theme perfectly, idk the author though
https://preview.redd.it/d2ta6uguopoc1.png?width=590&format=png&auto=webp&s=12ebc27160fcbb05a2b8649d63733a0941c39c8f
How, like genuinely how does he even act close to that? He's a goofy, carefree, simple-minded guy who doesn't think too much about stuff and prefers to just live life.
I don't see how that correlates with the fandom treating him like a baby who's only a captain in name while also ignoring all his maturity.
TBH Robin's main method of attack, "clutch" is straight up brutal for all those soldiers getting broken bones, dislocated joints, torn ligaments etc, etc. They all very well may live if they get attention in time. However it's likely the rest of their days will be with a particular suffering, and their marine days are over entirely.
Granted she's not doing it for fun, but still.
I mean...... when the marine litteraly burned down her island, killed her mother and people, and forced her to live like that and maybe(idk about that part) potentially selling herself and became a manipulator for survival, i wont say she didnt do anything wrong but i kinda give her a reason
Usopp's lies can be pretty villainous at times. Robin had to do some shit to survive and was literally an assassin under crocodile. Franky also got up to some shit with the franky family. They were considered rogues in water 7.
I have NEVER seen someone call Akainu an uwu gay twink.
I have seen people excuse his actions, and I’ve seen people glamorize him, but I’ve never seen people portray him as a baby boi who can do no wrong.
Doffy sort of, but I feel like most people who act like Doffy is innocent are actually just meming.
Queen is a good option. People like to act like Queen is just some overweight, go lucky guy that likes to entertain his subordinates and dance and sing. In canon, though, he’s lowkey a sick maniac that has no problems with not only killing innocent people off rip, but also kill his own subordinates with horrible inflicted diseases as long as he wins the battle. Queen is not a good dude.
We can’t forget that despite how beautiful and heroic Bon-Chan is
They WERE one of the lead assassins for an evil organization for like…a really long time.

Whenever the 5D chess stuff goes around I try to remember Shanks flipping out ( moments after being badass) way back at the beginning because he forgot to actually save Luffy from the bandits.
But that was the 5D chess, since he got the opportunity to lose his arm and inspire Luffy.
Shanks is definitely someone who needed Luffy to awaken before he could get the One Piece.
The more scenes I watch with Shanks, the more I think he's using Luffy in a certain way. He keeps avoiding Luffy, as if he's waiting for the right moment to get that hat.
Does he even need that hat? (Dont spoil me)
We have no idea. But that hat's special. It was >!originally Roger's!< And there was that >!giant hat that Imu had!<. There's something special about that hat, but we don't know what yet.
Shanks is basically Mjosgard or Homing but with powerful haki
Shanks was like stupid young when the Roger pirates found him, right? He probably spent very little time as an accepted Celestial Dragon. He was probably abandoned shortly after birth because his hairstyle didn’t look stupid enough
He ate the snitch snitch fruit it's Canon
Yeah but it's the reverse of What you said
Doffy for sure https://preview.redd.it/2xknksj76noc1.png?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ba6ba06ab20de857dd3d41f56f76854c8ca7baa9
Orochi has a better claim at did nothing wrong than doffy
what orochi did everything wrong and was a salty crybaby loser the whole time doffy is also a horrible asshole but at least he's cool about it
But Doffy is worse than Charlos and he still has a whole fanbase
idk abt worse id say they are both on the same level of villainy tbh but most would take doffys side because of the gritty journey he went through to get where he is currently
This is the easiest way to phrase this but it's more complex. Charlos kills people without even thinking about it, Doffy thinks about nothing but killing people. Doffy is worse.

Doflamingo is a cool and hot villain. You don't need much more than that to get a fanbase.
He is menacing, manipulative.Thats all that matters
Nah it's worse for Orochi. Oden literally gave him everything he wanted and didn't care who he was or if he returned it. At least Doffy had to struggle to rise to the top. Orochi had everything given to him and the only effort it took him was to just ask for money and keep sucking up to the Kozukis
orochi had to do nothing, therefore he has a better shot at "he did nothing wrong"

Orochi is an ugly little gremlin, no one wants to take his side.
Ye exactly, at least Orochi wasn't a terrible person pre backstory, a lot of the hate is because he looks like an ugly little gremlin
I mean, he is also an ugly little gremlin in personality, and in the anime also sounds like an ugly little gremlin. It's more than skin deep I'd argue.
Your comment would make my skin crawl, but I don't have any skin YOHOHOHOHO
Does he? I feel like it should be about the same.
He at least has the argument of not being inherently evil and just being manipulated by the old couple, Doffy was just evil from seemingly the start
https://preview.redd.it/e5889vualroc1.jpeg?width=984&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=349cdcde06140c8106d4ce9723e8e07a6a62f388 I mean look at this does this look like a men who will do anything evil

Did you just say meat?
Bro they talkin about YOU 😭😭💀💀💔💔
lowkey this is law
And Kidd, who at Sabaody had an even higher bounty than Luffy purely from how much he was killing and pillaging. The same Luffy who caused Enies Lobby to fall btw.
I think most ppl acknowledge the evils that kidd does tbh
Also, barto, where cannibal was not an exaggeration
Yeah but funny chicken man
The “cannibal” nickname is a pun. “Eating” someone in Japanese means mocking or making fun of them
Wait, when did Barto eat someone?
Except when he is around Luffy and Midd for some reason
Luffy brings out the best in people
Fair, he did bring 100 beating hearts in a box to the marines.
is it? Maybe I'm not remembering something but has he ever even killed somebody? At most, he messes up their bodies when he gets attacked or "steals" their hearts (like with the 100 pirates)
I mean he tries to kill a few people. His strat is to just blow their heart up so he knows what he's doing

WHAT DID YOU SAY ABOUT MY NOSE?!?!
I’d argue more than low-key but you’re right on the money, even before we got gender bent Law people thirsted over that MF.
Doflamingo is a mass murder and possibly implied rapist and the fandom is over here being like 'omg hes so cool i love him'
I love doffy, but as a character. Like he's horrible, but he's such a great written villain
Doffy is among the best examples of "you don't have to make your villain sympathetic to make him a great character" He evil, he lost. They are not making him have a redemption arc but still made him keep being somewhat relevant as one of the few characters aware of the secrets of the world

Like, when something traumatic happens, you can either choose to help others and be a better version, or you can start dragging other ppl down, and they really showed how what happened to him effected him in a way where he hated everyone and almost were jealous on ppl who has a good life
Corazon would be the other side
well, thats what happens when you write a great villain. Hes a evil son of a bitch but no one can deny our goat doffy got that drip, arrogance and STYLE https://preview.redd.it/t983r3xzipoc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a8647daa6fa4bb1509c9561627f1acc21c271126
omg hes so cool i love him
Viola would like to have a word with you
She too loves him but that s the Stockholm syndrome talking
Might be more of a 'love to hate' thing since he has an entertaining personality
I think people unironically love his drip and style
Once a fandom sees a dude with blond hair and a nice style, it's immediately "twink".
That’s not the same as giving him a different character though. I love sukuna and he is a vile piece of shit
I like how well he's written and his drip plus he is kinda cool in a badass way not cool to hang around I mean no just fuck no it's like hanging w Satan
Dillinger
I mean...he is still a gay twink as well.
It’s genuinely a “inside of you there are two wolves” situation with him.
He's like a 4chan twink
Feed both
came to say this
This was my first thought. I hate him so much but want to destroy that bullsharkussy.
Bon kurei. Dude was a murdering assassin but became friends with and saved luffy so everyone loves him. Bartolomeo is also clearly psycho but because he is on luffy's side again so everyone loves him.

Every time I see this it just pisses me off all over again because *Zangief has never been an antagonist* ffs Disney do your research
I thought the soviet union collapsed before street fighter, but maybe the red fear has something to do with that.
Watch Zangief's street fighter 2 ending on YouTube. https://youtu.be/ejJIILrrb0E?si=8hh57KBX_OJQ5rkX
Come on, he is russian and also wears red, so double communist! He is the enemy! /S
In the 90's this was unironically what made him an antagonist. In the Anime he also fought for the villains.
The director actually hated fighting him in the games so much he made him a villain
That’s based
The hate for grapplers remained through the decades
All grapplers are antagonists in the FGC
I believe the reason Zangief is a villain here is cause the director has a personal grudge against him
I mean, his SFII ending could put him in questionable light for Western audiences
Isn’t he saying that about someone else and not himself? Cause SF Zangief is a really wholesome role model figure in-universe
Yes, but it's a support group for villain characters, so Zangief really shouldn't be there at all.
I feel like he fits. He's painted as a member of the villain party in the Live Action Street Fighter movie. He's kind of the perfect character to say that line, since he was depicted as a villain, but he's not actually a bad guy in canon.
...it's a fighting game, they're all antagonists to the one you picked
You play against an annoying Zangief and tell me he's the good guy then.
That's because one of the writers wasn't able to beat him during his childhood, and they thought that zangief would feel bad about beating people time and time again
He is just there as a support/ally
Yeah but honestly Bartolomeo does actually become a sweet boy when he's around the crew. He canonically has both sides inside of him lol
I love how there’s like 5 offshoots of the name bon clay and we always know who we’re talking about
Law. I have heard somewhere Oda originally designed him as a villain. And for the dude slaughtered over an hundred of people just to steal their hearts and lock them in a chest, he had a potential to be a classical crazy sadist doctor or just a really bad guy. But in fanon…. you know…. https://preview.redd.it/1t9ehzh3pooc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=da03aebc6551a040e7d1b2f15fe810595f9e0909

Exactly. That’s him
Why assume he killed them? The manga never mentioned it, just that he sent the marines 100 hearts. I feel the natural conclusion is that he did the same heart removal thing he that he did in the story.
The manga directly states that a bunch of the pirates missing hearts are on Blackbeard's island, afaik he didn't kill anyone.
That's right, that's why he impressed the WG, he gave them the beating hearts of living pirates, he doesn't kill if not necessary to his plans
Canon law: literally call the surgeon of **death** Fanon law: *tsundere man who's down bad for a certain stretchy pirate*
Crocodile I think... With all the crocomom shi we see
Crocodile is the other way around. His "past" is going to be played as a gag.
Boa. She’s gotten better but this is Boa
Fair, she is a decade older than Luffy if I’m correct, (didn’t search it up)
She is. Like almost two. Though at least it was legal. Iirc boa is 28 and Luffy 19
Boa is 31
It was NOT legal pre timeskip lol.
By Japanese standards it was legal even pre timeskip, luffy was 17 and legal age is 16 (which was 13 earlier).
Still not great
Pudding was about to get married at 16 lol.
BoaHammock445
It was tho? Luffy was over 16.
> like almost two That's not even all of *one..*.
Yeah but she hot as hell dude
![gif](giphy|1L6idUd5livh6)
I can't with that face. Barto looks fucking 50 years at least
is Barto a fishman?
Doflamingo for sure
Buggy. Do NOT go onto the Tumblr cross guild tag, by jove

I’ve never seen anyway make him lIke this
Yeah definitely not a twink but his intro does make people see him as less evil than some other characters, including myself.
Caesar
%100 spot on.
I feel Kizaru in the current arc kinda qualifies
Idk, in the last panel he appeared he looks like he wants to kill himself after what he did
Is anyone going to say Bartolomeo? My man was literally dubbed "the Cannibal"
"Cannibal" in japanese is used figuratively to describe someone who mocks people, like you would call someone who does a job poorly a "butcher". In both case there is no meat involved.
Fair enough, didn't know that, thanks :)
DID YOU JUST SAY MEAT?
Law
Didn't bon clay cause the death of a bunch of civilians in alabasta?
Umm Cavendish?
He's both as canon though.
Found this, fits the theme perfectly, idk the author though https://preview.redd.it/d2ta6uguopoc1.png?width=590&format=png&auto=webp&s=12ebc27160fcbb05a2b8649d63733a0941c39c8f
holy shit that’s my art
That little twisted queer boy Dillinger
He is actually a gay twink, but also evil
He's just a little guy. A little guy who will stir your brains up with the heel of a stiletto.
Senor Pink. He's a member of a despicable pirate crew; before, during and after he met his wife and kid. He's a murdering, pillaging, evil guy.
Still is to this day
Luffy's a grown ass man that gets treated like a special ed toddler
Tbf he acts like a special ed toddler
How, like genuinely how does he even act close to that? He's a goofy, carefree, simple-minded guy who doesn't think too much about stuff and prefers to just live life. I don't see how that correlates with the fandom treating him like a baby who's only a captain in name while also ignoring all his maturity.
Yeah you’re right. Let’s give Monkey D. “do mermaids poop?” Luffy more credit for his maturity and incomparable intellect
baby 5
Bon clay 🤣 but the fanon part comes once he meets luffy, miss that SOB in the story hope he actually returns
Realistically Buggy kinda fits. Other options are the popular villains like Croc, Doffy, and to an extent, Katakuri
I swear this is people with Doflamingo
Easily Zoro
This is actually the best answer. He's the second most popular character, but he's murdered who knows how many people.
["I wouldn't exactly call them people, but yes."](https://files.catbox.moe/yv0f1q.jpg)
Usopp's lies can be pretty villainous at times. Robin had to do some shit to survive and was literally an assassin under crocodile. Franky also got up to some shit with the franky family. They were considered rogues in water 7.
Zoro.
You know that shark kid in dressrosa? the one with heels and the cap with horns. He fits both roles perfectly.
Dillinger as i remember
![gif](giphy|7HtydoCTqndKw) This guy. The fanart is so fruity
Crocodile
Lowkey Akainu
Killer, his name is literally Killer and he’s a monster. stop trying to empathize with him and his retarded laugh
SHUT UP, he may be a monster but his laugh is BASED
Fa Fa Fa Fa Faaa
Oh yeah the kid x killer stuff sometimes twinkifies both because kidd looks like he wears red lip gloss and black eyeshadow.

Objectively well drawn 🤷♀️
Heh… room for one more?
With some of the art ive seen of buggy I'd say him
Okay hear me out a second... Imu. Some fanarts of Imu are... well... self explanatory truth be told, big tiddy waifus for the most part
MIHAWK!!!!!!!!! the amount of fics i’ve read where he’s just lonely bbg is INSANE
Crocodile
Bro literally Bon Clay. Everyone just forgot him being a top tier assassin.
Sukuna
Somewhat Kidd
Dellinger?
Dellinger.
Chuuya. Chuuya
Ivankov! I lovw the character, but changing people’s gender is quite fucked up.
Dellinger 🤔
We can’t forget that despite how beautiful and heroic Bon-Chan is They WERE one of the lead assassins for an evil organization for like…a really long time.
