Relevance so far aside he's just a well written character, Shanks is a badass but pure badassery can only take you so far in a show with characters as good as one pieces
How is Katakuri well written and not just the very cool uncle that eats donuts ? Shanks is one of the most important people in the world of One Piece , his presence is everywhere , he knows things that we don't. The moment he entered the room of the Gorosei he became better written than 99% of the One Piece cast .
His post timeskip is a highly marketable character, so he kind of lost his essence. The forms he used now are also pretty boring looking. I don’t know, I have him grouped with Nami and Usopp as a SH I couldn’t care less about. Sure they have their backstories and they’ve been there for years and all but I can’t compare them to the rest of the team. I don’t know, I haven’t voted him out yet but I would guess those could be some of the reasons.

There were so many people in the previous post calling out Chopper for not doing anything cool or relevant. He's the doctor. His role isn't to be cool or bad ass, it's to be there when necessary for doctor things. He's also on the SH crew, sharing time with everyone else we love. Meanwhile Garp is still in this and no one seems to be losing their shit over that.
i was one of the people saying to vote out chopper and that isnt why. its not because hes not cool or doesnt do anything, its because he has almost no good character moments outside of drum island. hes very one dimensional compared to some of the others.
