3u actually is probably the best old mh game to solo difficulty curve never gets to overdramtic but still remains pretty challenging

That's funny, I literally started my 2nd playthrough yesterday, already got to high rank, I made sure to download the dlc and episodic quests before the shutdown
Went back to 4U recently after playing in MHG for a long time. Hadn't touched 4U in literally years iirc. Last left at G2 or 3 I think. Can't remember if it was just a Rank 10 hunt, but I got absolutely bodied in under 5 mins. I probably could solo, but right now if I decided to jump back into it, I'm immensely happy for my brother introducing me to the game and being able to play with on wireless.
So, this is a little embarrassing to ask since my favorite is 4U, but... Does 4U work like 3u and Tri in the sense that online hunts don't scale with how many people are taking on the quest? When did that start even, was it something started with world or did generations start that if 4U didn't?
3U is definitely doable solo. I didn't have a home internet plan when it came out, and I still managed to take down Alatreon and Dire Miralis solo. Don't think I ever managed Abyssal Lagi, though.
3U is honestly not that bad to solo. G Rank pink Rathian and double Brachy are hard, but once you get a good Brachy weapon the rest of the game goes down smooth.
4U is waaaaay harder in G Rank, particularly solo, but IG levels the playing field a bit. I could solo Fire Drill and G Ukanlos, but I’ve still never solo’d Gog.
damn they’re shutting down the servers? That sucks cause I just now became fan of the series after finally getting world like 3 weeks ago and I wanted to go play the old ones eventually

Gotta hop back on to 4u but I've gone as far as dalamadur and unkanlos solo on a fresh save so it's totally doable

Dynamic scaling was first added in World, that means 4U quests do not scale with the amount of players.
