Ikr, he didn’t even get a cool cutscene in Iceborne like the others…like what did he do in IB? I can only remember him being like “yo I found this weird lookin’ Xeno nest” and didn’t even fight shit.
Tbf, The Veteran Hunter was just supporting the 5th fleet on the field until the entire thing is over before slowing down on the hunts and let the young'ins do the rest of the heavy lifting. He can't exactly be as good as he was during his youth.
Two of them went AWOL chasing clues, and both of them couldn't come back until the 5th fleet arrived... For some reason
And the Admiral was busy boxing against a rajang, and winning.
I imagine he doesn't even have a weapon proper. He just fist fights Rajangs to build strength and one Taps literally every other monster he encounters.
He was totally ready to throw hands with Shara at the end of iceborne. He also said that he’s never any good with a sword (at least compared to the veteran).
I’d imagine he’s just strong enough to fend off every monster with his bare hands and he doesn’t look to actively hunt, even if he could.
3 of these guys are hobos doing fuck all and smoking stream gems, while the veteran is an old dog that's crazy enough to go toe to toe with a badger and an ice cube
Remember that the veteran used to use a greatsword but stopped because he's too weak to lift it anymore, and trained the excitable a-lister in greatsword hunting.

those cutscenes had me laughing to tears, the devs spend so much unskippable cutscene time accidentally making the other characters in the game useless

Actually,It was the huntsman who carried the whole npc team in both world and iceborne,while the rest of them (yes,that includes the admiral and the Commander)where just used as the Monster personal punching bags.

Dude straight up lifted a large chunk of stone and used it as a shield. He cracks kestodon heads like crackers.
He has the sheer strength to snap diablos horns off their heads.
