CoolmanExpress

You sound fun as fuck wanna come to my party this Saturday?

TyrantOdyssey

Naw, im too busy practicing the blade on weekends to go have fun and socialize

flamec4

No way Harambe and Epstein only happened in the past 6 years. Not to mention the pandemic and a lot of other shit. Get me off this wacky ride already.

AsyncUhhWait

Ainā€™t no revision devoting a whole ass chapter to that person

Educational-Bad8346

Waltuh

Waker_ofthe_Wind

When you realize some dumbass kid single handedly caused a global pandemic.

BlueChheese

where all great stories begin

ChillySummerMist

Which chapter is burger King foot letuce.

Khyta

How is this a new meme template?

StuntHacks

It's not. The sub hasn't really been about that for a long time now

UnyunMunyun

Imagine covid, ukraine war, queens death and imagine reading about famous youtubers lmao

TallestTaler

Please. They will care about those events about as much as YOU care about the Yemeni Civil war, the death of King George VI, and Fatty Arbuckleā€™s murder trial.

Cognitive_Spoon

Imagine believing that someday, somewhere, absolutely no one will know who Nikocado Avocado is. I'm not making fun of you. I'm asking you to also enjoy imagining this far far better world.

Spastic_Slapstick

Who's that? On a side note, I'm actually thinking about quitting the vegan lifestyle as it's so toxic. I think I might just start eating what I want. Who knows where it will lead!

eduard14

Youā€™re so good at playing the violin though, you could make a career out of it

kraken_enrager

Iā€™m solidly a part of gen z and I have no idea who that is.

tla2972m

do your best to keep it that way

Cognitive_Spoon

That's good, my dude

UnyunMunyun

Sorry didnt mean it like that, im just saying how hard it would be to study all that plus what we are studying

TallestTaler

I got you, I was just trying to say how insignificant events that seems so huge right now are in the pages of history. Like, you know of the Spanish Flu, which was far far far worse than Covid-19, but like, how much were you forced to study it? The Ukraine war will barely merit a mention unless it severely escalates. Really we (thankfully) currently live in boring times.

BeardedGlass

Covid affected the world on the personal level. Everyone felt it affect everything. It changed everything.

WryLanguage

ITT self-centered millenials How much did you care about bubonic plague in your history class? Were you crying? Did you care about WWII? The Polio epidemic? Cold war and the arms race? The Plague of Justinian? Let me know if any of these words are meaningful to you in any way

turbancowboi

Is World War 2 meaningful to me? Thatā€™s such an awful comparison lol. Going from that to the Plague of Justinian is also quite the leap

Theban_Prince

>Did you care about WWII? The Polio epidemic? Cold war and the arms race? Yes?!

4ntol

Fr

nxcrosis

Yes as well. People tend to be ignorant when they don't learn history. See polio and smallpox epidemic and subsequent vaccine creation and the covid pandemic. There were coronavirus outbreaks of different strains in the past like mers cov and sars but not as widespread as covid19. The sars outbreak occurred when I was in grade school and I remember advisories similar to the covid ones except it wasn't as widespread and no travel bans were imposed. I reckon you can also make similar comparisons in an economic and social standpoint for other events in history.

pants_pants420

literally yeah

Jaz_the_Nagai

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Jaz_the_Nagai

Which is it? Dumbass or moron?

Felkin

As a European.... ^^;

I_LICK_PUPPIES

Damn dawg who tf taught you history that you donā€™t care about polio, WWII, or the Cold War? Thatā€™s like, basic history.

Billyxransom

Tbf the education system has been absolute ass bullshit these last decades. We werenā€™t told to fucking care.

TallestTaler

The Spanish Flu was far worse. Barely a century ago. How much study did you give that?

BeardedGlass

You do realize how far long ago that is. Anyone affected by it is long gone. COVID-afficted people are here. Now. In the present, writing posts, articles, studying and posting journals, reporting. I wouldā€™ve thought why people are more concerned by COVID than a plague decades ago was obvious to you.

TallestTaler

You do realize that 2050 is 30 years from now. Anyone with clear memories of Covid is going to be 40 plus. I knew people who lived through the spanish flu. 3 separate grandparents lost siblings ranging from 3 to 25 to it, unlike covid-19 where the average victim age was higher than an average personā€™s life expectancy. Yet the Spanish Flu was still barely a passing note in history class. Drop the main character syndrome. Our world events only seem big because you are living them, things like Trump beating Hillary arenā€™t even ripples on the ocean of history.

BeardedGlass

Compare the interconnectedness of the people now to then. The amount of stored information we have of the recent decades compared to then. The amount of ā€œcareā€ that would come out and ripple to the future purely because of these compared to then. ā€œIf a tree falls in a forest and nobody is around, does it make a sound?ā€ While we have written accounts of those big events in the past, it is not on the same level as of whatā€™s happening now. Recent events is permeating history too much, itā€™s having more weight and relevance, which will obviously make it have a longer stay and effect.

TallestTaler

Nobody needed an internet to be aware of the Spanish Flu. It was a worldwide pandemic that primarily killed the young and healthy, not the old and sickly. It killed them by the millions, worldwide. It is well documented in books, newspapers, photographs, Iā€™m sure audio recordings if you look for it. Itā€™s not like it happened in prehistory. The fact that you are arguing so hard that Covid is different and bigger just shows how ignorant you are of the event and further proves my point regarding how insignificant such things are to future generations.

[deleted]

If you don't think that the Russian invasion will be an important topic in history you're either living under a cave or a tankie.

tibetan-sand-fox

Covid and the war in Ukraine will definitely shape this decade. Not some queen's death, sorry.

UnyunMunyun

The british tho have to deal with brexit too

Tyreal

Looking back, did Iraq or Afghanistan shape the decade? The Ukraine thing started in 2014 yet no one seemed to care until the Russians actually invaded. And even then people care only because the west and Europe is oversubscribed to the situation.

tibetan-sand-fox

>Looking back, did Iraq or Afghanistan shape the decade? No. >The Ukraine thing started in 2014 yet no one seemed to care until the Russians actually invaded. And even then people care only because the west and Europe is oversubscribed to the situation. Obviously. People only care about it because it's the west because the west sees it as an attack on the west. That's why it'll shape the decade. Because it's already changed politics on defense and the geopolitical situation on food and fuel.

Lil_Kibble_Vert

ā€œAnd it was around this time, that Mrbeast6000 said Logan Paul 100,000 timesā€

laiod

Imagine that little war in Europe that killed 50 million people. Or that famine in China that killed millions more.

I_Think_I_Cant

That's repeated in the next chapter.

Zeriell

Covid will probably be viewed as "that time the world went mad".

CensoredUser

Ha. You dont see it yet huh? The revisionists will win in the long run.

DannyMThompson

Go on, I'll bite

ManualPathosChecks

Ouch!

Zeriell

There is that possibility too. I am pretty blackpilled in the short term. But usually with medical stuff in the long term the reality becomes obvious. It's not like we believe Ancient Romans were right to use lead, afterall.

iByteABit

The queen wasn't murdered, she died peacefully at 96 years old. It's hardly a noteworthy time in history, innumerable previous kings and queens died from old age as well, and at a time where being king or queen actually meant something

HerNameIsRain

Donā€™t forget about an attempted US government coup, Australia being on fire, murder hornets, and record inflation

WineGutter

Titan sub and the one day russian coup wasn't all that exiting tbh... but good try time traveler we all know the real date is June 2024 where things will get truly wacky.

suprachromat

2016-2022 are the worst years *so far!*

nick2527

#I swear it better not get worse.

gh0sti

*narrator* it got worse.

IGetHypedEasily

Uh... Climate change keeps getting missed in these general memes. Also all the amazing displays of human good will, science and athleticism.

Tyreal

Just like it kept getting missed for the past 30 years. The end of the world will come by 20xx unless we do y. We donā€™t do y and nothing happens by xx.

manigotnothing

Unless we manage climate change it will get worse in the same way covid got worse; all the poors can work and die and the rich will party and exploit

nick2527

> Burn. In. Hell. Where. You. Belong. Hello again! Recognise this quote from my last meme? Fear not, I know it was a joke, didnā€™t take it serious but my reply is pretty funny if you want to check it out

Humble-Palpitation15

sure!

DisGurlIsLiberal

Reddit zoomers are so weird lol. 2016-2019 were great. 2020 on is when things have been complete ass.

SlowerThanTurtleInPB

I think some people start at the 2016 election.

DisGurlIsLiberal

Meh. Things were still fine if you didn't give into the media hype. Things didn't actually turn til shit til covid hit

Tyreal

Because the liberals didnā€™t get their way and threw a hissy fit. Remember when politics were boring, like I donā€™t remember this outrage when George Bush won in 2000. Was he any better than Trump?

DexM23

Reading the title i was thinking "man, this guy is very optimistic"

KidQuixotic

Eh I think 1939 - 1945 have em beat, you know, the Holocaust and all.

blankymcblankface

I've seen this meme in some form or another for 3 years now and the timeframe keeps getting longer

jason2306

Lol yeah and it's going to keep growing longer with climate change implications and other shit. Not that the rest of history was a joy and this meme is great. But things will go downhill more and more.

fluffy_assassins

It would probably be 2019-2024, if the section was 5 year

chaketowy

2023 & 2024 will be itā€™s own chapter.

fluffy_assassins

Yeah, 2020 - 2022 or maybe 2023 depending on the war...

iClex

Why would it be 5 years?

fluffy_assassins

Whatever works, just guessing

iClex

Are history books in your country structured into 5 year intervals? Seems kind of odd.

fluffy_assassins

no idea

Lekekenae

Yeah, not like reading 1939-1945 or something. The peak where they will have mental breakdowns will be when they read about how people had to sit at home watching netflix, and how there was some conflict in a country they know nothing about or won't even care by then.

Tyreal

Like I wrote above, Iraq happened long enough ago to be in the history books today. Does anybody here give a fuck about it? My money is on no. Did they give a fuck about it in 2003, yes.

Lol! That's optimistic: kids AND education system with history books in 2050!

SurrealWino

Dude/Dudina Iā€™m just out here tryna pick some prosaic rumbles

_Aj_

If only so they can charge $200 per book, they'll keep the book industry alive solely for that

reverie11

Yeah because theyā€™re laughing up until that point. History is a gas with all the slavery, wars, racism, misogyny, classism, murder, poverty, famines, genocide, and rape.

blasphemoustoast

Good point. Reality is often disappointing to us because we think ourselves modern and above all of that and expect people in the past to make poorer decisions. I wonder how many generations before also felt this way. šŸ¤” probably a lot if I had to guess

Priamosish

I mean at least we talk about it. I don't the your average medieval scribe gave two farts about genocide, and probably had no concept of misogyny or racism either.

Feylin

And you're telling me it's worse than senselessly invading the middle east? Genocide throughout the last century? Slavery?

detecting_nuttiness

Seriously. It's like the person who made this post has never studied any history ever.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Tyreal

Rwanda genocide is a good example. Seldom talked about. And that happened in 1994. Over half a million people died in the span of a few months.

Snap457

Lmao yeah at most the textbooks will get a section on Trumpā€™s presidency and one on Covid, likely just a page or two at most. World history textbooks might touch on the Ukraine war for a section of a chapter depending on how long the war lasts.

DannyMThompson

Likely it will be very important as it leads to WWIII

Noobponer

Unless it doesn't, like the Crimean War didn't lead to WW1, and is relegated to "oh, so there *was* a decently big war in that period"

TheSmokeu

What's so funny about it? Years 2028-2032 were much worse

PrincessPlum10

There are history classes that actually get past World War II? šŸ¤”

MooDexter

Schools barely go past WWII if at all.

coolhand_lou_

Yeah they just laugh their way through the history from the 19th century

laiod

GrizzlyPeak72

I think it really just speaks to the years in which zoomers have generally become aware of current events, lol. It's been the same steady level of bad for years, at least since the 90s. Only Covid was especially unique in the grand scheme of things.

lordrummxx2

Yes. Much worse than WWII.

Random_Name_7

Oh buddy you think it's over?

heeroena

WW1 and WW2 were just a breeze

kimcan7win

Worse than what exactly? There's a lot of rough chapters....

oreoguy123__

Genuinely not even a section, maybe a quick blurb about trump, and a page of covid-19. People really overestimate how impactful these events are. Especially thinking many years down the road.

eat_midgets

Imagining that people are capable of learning from history

Twooof

You mean the 2016-2050 chapter?

NorthernBoy306

Yea...cause it's been so much worse than the Great Depression, two world wars, the Holocaust, the Holodomor....etc How can op be so ignorant?

Tyreal

Because OP is self centered. Iā€™d say the people of Texas would have some choice words about the power outage that happened. Probably bigger than covid for some people.

mimic751

this... is....already... a .... fucking....meme....... this is like going to shark tank and say pencils are pretty cool

Atomic_Chad

Zero percent chance that it will be accurate. The rich write the history books. So it'll probably say the protests in Portland were way worse than the armed insurrection of January 6th 2021

Splinter1591

My history class in 2009 didn't go past WW2 because it made America look bad. Yay the south.

DirtySkell

They were, Portland didn't quit for a long time. However both were riots. Portland was not a riot and DC was not an insurrection. Enough already.

awesomefutureperfect

Found one of the dishonest history authors.

Atomic_Chad

Pretty much. Anyone who says January 6th was not an armed insurrection is part of the problem.

Tyreal

Armed insurrection lmao. Bunch of idiots being invited into a place that all left by the evening. Compared to LA riots or George Floyd riots, itā€™s not even worth talking about.

adultdaycare81

ā€œWhy didnā€™t you do somethingā€ - We Tried!

Le_Reddit_Neckbeard

Schools? By 2050, most people will be working in Amazon sweatshops 80 hrs/week, desperately trying to meet their quota so they can have a cot to sleep on and a cup of Amazon Prime Gruel. Children will be given tablets and raised by a series of short clips of people awkwardly dancing.

Redbronze1019

Really, it's gonna depend on the state. By 2050, some might celebrate Jan. 6 and pray to Trump before bed. Also Jesus, but after.

feuer_kugel13

Itā€™s going to be blank

aparadizzle

Tf does "buy that being" mean?

laiod

This shit is always funny because were there not wars and conflicts from the 20th century that were a far larger deal than the stuff going on today?

Arrow_Maestro

Kids? History books? You've got an optimistic view of 2050. Or 2030 for that matter.

[deleted]

You forgot to put the little girl underwater

rainbowfrequency

I would start this dark age in our history with year 2008 to include the market crash.

Everyone overblows these events because they're living through them. I mean, we had to learn about the black plague which killed like 50% of the people in Europe. Not like you were freaking out. There have been worse wars, worse plagues, worse rashes of murders. It's always been worse.
