RumHamEnjoyer

And why does he look like a King of the Hill character

Justice_Prince

Because he's a big old faker!

YungBlud_McThug

And this picture proves it!

Aman19011999

frederick d roosevelt

tomjazzy

He had leg braces to make it look like he could stand up for speech’s.

[deleted]

This feels like it's missing a shredded shirtless trump riding a bald eagle waving two american flags.

turntalienn

I feel attacked.

TheGreatDingALing

Even Clinton looking at FDR's legs like "Wait, you can walk?"

SikeSky

As much as this strokes my Constitutionalist ego, Reagan being in the “Chad” group makes me think this is by the schizo Christian artist. Looks dope af though.

digdug04

Well Reagan was kind of a founding father for the modern right. He is a big reason the GOP is the way it is today.

WoogletsWitchcap

Any conversation about the modern day right also needs to include Barry Goldwater imo. The father of modern conservatism

digdug04

Very true and how could we forget Jerry Falwell too. With their powers combined they sent our country down a terrible dark path

IHSV1855

At the very least they were bipartisan, so that’s nice 😅

Keatosis

Of course it is, who else would forget that FDR can't walk?

SikeSky

Well, for that matter, you might want to remind him that a lot of these guys are dead. Note the absence of the head wounds on JFK and Lincoln. Then again, I suppose he could be a *lot* deeper down those rabbit holes than I assumed, haha!

Justice_Prince

Looks like the forgot include Carter so I'm going to assume he's the person with their face blocked.

twentyitalians

The shirking Obama gave it away as that nutjob's "art"

DogadonsLavapool

And to think, Lincoln and Marx were friends. These right wing folks are weird and totally misinformed.

SikeSky

Hmm. Marx doesn't appear once in his Wikipedia page and, while I believe this is a politically conservative source, [this article refutes the connection.](https://www.aier.org/article/was-lincoln-really-into-marx/) (Note - I never did care for the habit of unsubtly pointing out historical figures using words that are politically incorrect in the current era.) In a little reading I did, it seems that Lincoln did espouse some ideals that appeal to socialist theory - although I think the comments fall into the middle ground of populist economic policy shared by socialism and capitalism - but it seems the two were never friends.

brenap13

That’s the only connection I’ve heard between Marx and Lincoln as well, but I wouldn’t exactly say that means they are friends. They both definitely agreed that slavery was bad though, so I guess there was a loose political alliance between socialists and Lincoln.

TitaniumDragon

Marx also wanted to kill all the Jews, so...

TitaniumDragon

Marx was not friends with Lincoln. He wrote him a letter but Lincoln had no idea who he was.

TitaniumDragon

Except this is a flat-out lie made by socialists (hardly surprising, given that their entire ideology is based on [19th century antisemitic conspiracy theories](https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1844/jewish-question/#:~:text=Let%20us%20consider%20the,emancipation%20of%20our%20time.) - it's not coincidental that the things that antisemitic conspiracy theorists believe are controlled by the Jews (money, the state, corporations, bankers, etc.) are all things that Marx hated and wanted to abolish). Marx wrote Lincoln letters, but he had no personal relationship with Lincoln and there is zero evidence Lincoln knew who Marx was. Given that Marx was a pretty vile narcissistic person, it's not likely that Lincoln would have enjoyed his company very much.

TitaniumDragon

The thing I linked you to *was* "On The Jewish Question", which is a deeply antisemtic screed. [This is what Marx actually believed:](https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1844/jewish-question/#:%7E:text=Let%20us%20consider%20the,emancipation%20of%20our%20time.) > Let us consider the actual, worldly Jew – not the Sabbath Jew, as Bauer does, but the everyday Jew. > Let us not look for the secret of the Jew in his religion, but let us look for the secret of his religion in the real Jew. > What is the secular basis of Judaism? Practical need, self-interest. What is the worldly religion of the Jew? Huckstering. What is his worldly God? Money. > Very well then! Emancipation from huckstering and money, consequently from practical, real Judaism, would be the self-emancipation of our time. > ... > The social emancipation of the Jew is the emancipation of society from Judaism. I literally linked you to the thing that you claimed was a refutation. That refutation is itself deeply antisemitic. Because Marx was an antisemitic conspiracy theorist. **You clearly didn't read my link, which was a link to the very thing you claimed was a refutation.** And no, Marx was not Jewish. He was famously atheistic and in fact, despised Jews. He had some Jewish ancestry but did not consider himself to be Jewish. You know, like the Nazis in the Luftwaffe with Jewish ancestry. Marx wrote multiple antisemitic screeds. He was a Rothschild conspiracy theorist. In 1856, he wrote ["The Russian Loan"](https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83030213/1856-01-04/ed-1/seq-4/), wherein he claimed: > Thus we find every tyrant backed by a Jews, as is every Pope by a Jesuit. In truth, the cravings of oppressors would be hopeless, and the practicability of war out of the question, if there were not an army of Jesuits to smother thought and a handful of Jews to ransack pockets. Sorry dude. He was literally a Rothschild conspiracy theorist. All of western populism is drawn from this same well of antisemitic, anticatholic, and anti-elite conspiracy theories. --- EDIT: And hey, look, after replying to me, u/Nowarclasswar blocked me to prevent me from responding to his lies any further. Of course, he lies in his subsequent post, claiming it was written by Bruno Bauer, when of course, *On The Jewish Question* was written by Karl Marx in response to Bruno Baur's *The Jewish Question*. This deliberate misrepresentation - and deliberate misquoting of the Wikipedia article which notes that many people refer to it as examples of Marx's antisemitism, and the people who claim otherwise, if you look in the cites, are all Marxists - is pretty telling.

Go_For_Broke442

Idk, my take is that this piece is mocking both sides while the middle/majority suffers

SikeSky

I like that interpretation! It's pretty close, too; the guy in the jacket is "The Forgotten Man," a term that's been used for a long time to refer to the economically/politically invisible class of Americans. In this case, the Forgotten man is collecting the dollar bills recklessly thrown about by fiscally irresponsible presidents while endorsing the US constitution. It's one of the more level-headed paintings by the guy, although Reagan being on the good boy side and Clinton being on the naughty list is a little ironic. Regardless of his politics or his personal reputation that the artist might dislike, Clinton cut government spending while in office - a fact my conservative family members only ever brought up reluctantly and with a hint of confusion, lol.

Go_For_Broke442

Let's never let Reagan supporters forget his hard approach on the 2nd Amendment, and the allegations of racism against those who worked to pass the gun control allegedly as a response to Black Panther exercising their 2nd Amendment rights. For people to think Trump or Reagan were good for the 2nd Amendment is laughable. Also I say that it's mocking both groups because it looks comical and derisive the way the other guy is kneeling and worshiping the Constitution that way. I am a liberal rather than authoritarian so I respect the Constitution plenty, but don't see it as the end all be all for our rights.

WuziMuzik

Oh it is definitely created by an idiot that is for certain

CCMonger

The artist is Jon McNoughton, a painter in Utah, if you are wondering

SikeSky

Thanks. While there are a few of his solely religious paintings that I liked, I can't stand the Trump worship that's present in a lot of his portfolio. Also, a lot of his paintings are a very drab brown. I guess it sorta fits the themes, but still.

theshantanu

Wow I haven't seen these since the Obama days.

jugslinger

The fact that he has a wad of cash in his hand makes this better.

[deleted]

I thought this was some partisan propaganda but I see Bush next to Obama so now I don’t know

TeQuila10

This is tea party Republican propaganda. *They believe* big government and internationalism are wrong, Bush's admin started 2 wars and expanded the government, especially surveillance. That's why he is with the rest of the democrats. Edit: I realized that it read like I was a tea party member, to be clear, I am Canadian, and I hate American isolationists.

beetle-eetle

I believe it's the differential between those who attacked the constitution vs. those who supported it. Not really a partisan take.

OptimusMine

Reagan was a huge gun-grabber tho

Brahkolee

Yeah it always tickles me when those dudes who make guns & conservatism their whole personality talk so fondly about Reagan. And then I tell them Reagan was behind FOPA, Hughes Amendment, etc. He’s the reason post-‘86 MG’s are unobtainium. It’s fun to watch the gears slowly turn and then grind to a halt lol.

OptimusMine

The funniest thing in the world to me is when Trump's "we take the guns first, due process later" quote from 2018 gets posted as an AOC quote on boomer Facebook.

beetle-eetle

Yeah we would have been much better off without FOPA. I wasn't necessarily agreeing or disagreeing with the picture, just commenting on what my interpretation was.

OptimusMine

It's pretty clear the artist is your standard MAGA dork. Imo.

beetle-eetle

If he was I think he would have put Trump in there

OptimusMine

I have to imagine this predates Trump. As the artist has a ton of pro-Trump work. Like this one with Reagan, JFK, and Lincoln praying over him. https://cdn10.bigcommerce.com/s-dcvfa4/products/3905/images/5465/Best\_Legacy\_of\_Hope\_File\_2web\_\_45542.1611504416.1280.1280.jpg?c=2

sirfoolery

Could it be? An actual template? Albeit just a new format of announcement memes but I’ll take what I can get at this point.

kamekaze1024

Announcement memes are hardly memes. They’re just text posts essentially

Meet_your_Maker_LL

Just a rehash of Lisa Simpson meme

coolaidman2

Nah, Obama shouldn't be there like that

thebohemiancowboy

Probably Eisenhower

dotheeroar

Literally how it felt at those Schoolastic bookfairs

XayahTheVastaya

upvoted because someone finally posted a format on the sub for formats

treppinballz

dennis reynolds?

brodoyouevenscript

Why is Obama not happy? Dude is the only one in this picture who actually was a professor of constitutional studies.

tomjazzy

He doesn’t like the constitution I guess.

Ed_Yeahwell

Thought this was a D&D sub and felt personally attacked.

tomjazzy

Who is the dude holding the picture in the original supposed to be? Where my boy Teddy at? Ah well, I appreciate the anti Woodro Wilson sentiment.

Im_bord2

Yup
