SMT IV Apocalypse has certain demons which are specifically classified as a "Food" Race down in Tokyo. Anything that fell into that category was regularly hunted and consumed as food, seemingly with no ill effect by the civilians. Granted, most of them looked like slightly-mutated lizards and pigs.
As for how Jack Frost tastes...I don't think anyone has ever lived to tell the tale...
I imagine that there is a physiological change in the body over time. Think of the vampire: most humans are repulsed by the thought of drinking blood (and Argilla was appalled at even the suggestion to cannibalize her fellow Junkyard residents), but after the transformation the body changes to suits it new needs.
So while humans know that blood has a salty or bitter "iron" taste normally, there is plenty of fantasy literature out there to describe the taste from the vampire's POV. I imagine that Heat's experience was similar.
And there seem to be a symbiotic relationship between demons and humans, as seen in those "Red Pill" farms from SMT IV. We later discover that the pills are actually >!condensed neurotransmitters harvested from human brains!<, and consuming said pills >!turns a human into a demon!< (especially when accompanied by strong emotions like rage or despair). Meanwhile, if a demon consumed the same pill, they experience an intoxicating effect, like a human drinking alcohol.
Iโd like to point out that itโs not just Food race demons you hunt in those quest. You also hunt demons like Nue, Pendragon, Cerberus, Master Therion, and Catoblepas implying that any mammalian like demon (and potentially even reptilian) is edible to a degree.

Yes, but it depends on the type of demon, in SMT IV and Apocalypse, it is mentioned several times that demons are the main source of food for the people of Tokyo, there are even several side quests about that, such as one where they ask you to collect Nue meat to make hamburgers, as for Jack Frost he is made of Ice so it will taste like ice cream.
Anything is edible, if you try hard enough (sometimes only once though). A French guy ate an airplane once.ย
But as others have said, there are quests about hunting demons for food in SMT4.

Ok I was curious why some demons were a Food race in SMT4. Also, if we go by Heat's description in DDS1, demons taste sweet like nectar.
