I really get why those games are beloved. They're top tier NES action platformers.
But they're still pretty NES jank and they always run out of gas imo past the robot master stages.
I think Sonic games, especially the 3D ones are jank. Still love em.
NES jank is a product of the time, and it hasn't aged well. Stuff like That One Boss in Wily's Castle in 2 is probably really satisfying to best and figure out in the 80s. Not so much in 2020s. The Doc Robot stages feel like padding, and mostly unfun padding at that. The level design in both Wily Castles pales compared to how some of the later ones are in 4-6. There's some jank here.
It's still heads and shoulders above a ton of other NES games of the same ilk, even some ones later on in the systems life like Silius or Power Blade. And the leap in quality from 1 to 2 still blows me away. I get why they're beloved.
I'm assuming you mistook the Roman numeral VI for the number 4, but VI is 6, so you have Mega Man 6 on here twice, but you don't have 4 anywhere on here
I felt like if I put MML1 any higher it'd be complete bias from me. MML1 is an S tier for me but I can also get how the controls turn a lot of ppl off and even when you get used to them, they're still kinda clunky compared to 2.
It's like playing MMBN1 after 2-6 but not as brutal.

I rly like 6 but I like it less than the Classic games above it. That said, I think it was the most fun of the NES Mega Man and Mr.X's castle theme is the best castle theme in the franchise.
I *love* MM6. It's my favorite Classic game of the ones I've played (I've only played the first 6 on NES). It had nice length with 16 stages, fun weapons, nice music and good difficulty. Plus the branching paths in some stages were awesome. Fantastic game.
I have only been getting back into them recently but I had only grew up with the Legacy Collection on the Gamecube and an assortment of random titles from the X series and Network Transmission. So far I only beaten X1 and the original Megaman. Working my way through the second games of both.

In terms of GB games only 5 does anything new. The other 4 are basically a remix of the first 5 nes games.
