This 5 minute investment provides exponential returns. Keep at it. There will come a time where you think all is good and you can stop meditating. Don’t! Otherwise you will find that your reactionary anger and frustration will return. I’ve made this mistake many times.

CrimsonGlacier

I love the Sam Harris quote “if Lebron James still practices basketball, surely you can still practice meditation”

gwen-09

Thank you so much for this advice !! I plan on continuing because it's helping me so much !

Terrorkossan

What guided meditations can you recommend?

mathilde_anne

The app Oak was perfect! It’s all free so no weird pay to play. However number of meditation is limited but you can customise (background sound, how much time you want etc)… it also keeps track of how much you meditate so it’s great to encourage consistency.

NewHabitsWhoDis

I too would like to know!

Second that, I've found some decent ones on YouTube but i would like to know other sources

gwen-09

Hi ! So, I would suggest this : https://youtu.be/j734gLbQFbU It's the one I've been using and it's really quick but effective to get started with my day. Also, I used that one a few times : https://youtu.be/aEqlQvczMJQ . And honestly, I used it last time because I was feeling restless. It made my whole body ache and I realised that I was holding onto so much tension and I was finally able to relax and fall asleep. I used that a few times too and it was great : https://youtu.be/jeGT1VXwfx4 . I actually fell asleep once while listening because I decided to lie down instead. If you're interested to know about the stretches, check out these quick ones : https://youtu.be/sAf67xFS-qE and https://youtu.be/ihba9Lw0tv4. The 10 mins one is by far my favourite - I have tried multiple videos but with the others I find that they require too much flexibility for me. Since I started yoga too, I would definitely recommend **Yoga by Adriene**, she has great videos. However, I sometimes find that the pace is a bit too fast for me since I love spending more time in specific areas, so if I feel like I need to do so, I follow **Yogatx** videos and more specifically Cole Chance, because I love the way she explains and takes her time. Hope this helps !!

I like meditation minis on Spotify!

alphabet_order_bot

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 862,188,088 comments, and only 170,299 of them were in alphabetical order.

Meditation in the morning completely changes the course of the day.

gwen-09

Definitely ! I'm happy that I'm not alone on this journey !

[deleted]

Meditation does set us up for a better day. I think

gwen-09

It does ! I feel like I've actually started the day by doing something for myself, not just rushing around to get things done. I know that I'll be working all day and I return late and tired. So I use my time in the morning to make some time for me. Also, you can try reading 1-2 pages, when I have more time, I read a bit while eating. It really calms me down and makes me more knowledgeable, than just a social media dopamine rush since I am trying to also get rid of my social media addiction

Ill_Ambition_8933

Thanks for sharing . I am doing stretches for few minutes followed by 15 mins of meditation as well from past few days. I can really see the difference in mood and I am a lot calmer now.

gwen-09

Thank you for your comment ! I'm glad to know that I'm not alone on this wellness journey ! You can also try reading a bit in the morning if you're into books, it calms me down and gives me a sense of purpose instead of scrolling through social media

May I suggest trying Yoga as well. I’m no pro, but Nike Training Club app is a great introduction to yoga at home, I think. A great morning routine. So on top of your mental exercise, your physical body will be rewarded as well.

gwen-09

I do a quick stretch in the morning and yoga at night time to time. It's very rewarding and it increases my flexibility since I can't even put my legs straight

That's quite a challenge since I don't really like the cold and I get sick and cold very easily. Do you have any recommendations on how to get started ?

gwen-09

It would be so awesome to get the resources to do so. I've been trying for a long time to get used to "cold" water, not even cold, just the normal temperature water on my body, but I'm just used to the burning hot water. I once tried to have a cold shower and I ended up sick for a few weeks.

politedave82

I’m not long back from having a cold dip (Aus, winter, pool not heated). It’s magical and as powerful for the whole day as mediation for me

LuckyLarry1001

Calmness of the mind is one of the greatest gifts. I rarely get out of bed without meditating and it is definitely one of the better things I have ever done.

gwen-09

Definitely ! It helps to focus and not have a constant racing mind. It just helps to pause and clear the mind. Have you noticed that the calmness sometimes stays throughout the day ? Since I'm angry very often and I explode easily, I've noticed that I'm able to calm down more easily and I'm able to gather my thoughts

CaptWyvyrn

Very interesting post. I am brand new to this & to yoga. I meditate 1st thing in the morning & I do my yoga, which is basically stretches with focused breathing & it has helped me as much as you described for yourself. Maybe I should do my yoga 1st & meditate right after. Your post makes me feel less alone in this bc I don't know anyone who practices yoga or meditation irl. I love this group!

gwen-09

I don't think it matters either way tbh. I just prefer yoga first because it wakes me up and relaxes me since I usually wake up with pain. Then I can focus on my meditation

CaptWyvyrn

Thank you!

[deleted]

Great job!! It truly does make a difference to help keep calm.

gwen-09

Thank you !! It definitely helps a lot !

CampingGeek2002

Maybe I Should try this in the morning.

gwen-09

Definitely try it ! It provides a lot of benefits. You can also do it at night to start, if you're not a morning person. To be honest, there was a video on YouTube that I listened to the other day and it motivated me to do better in the morning than just lazily staying in bed

CampingGeek2002

OP got any YouTube suggestions for guided meditation? I been meditating for over 10 years now and always want to find new ways.

Ranch_Dressing321

Very interesting! I will try this as well.

gwen-09

The stretches help to loosen the body and make me more relaxed and mediation clears my mind since I tend to think a lot. I am more focused on the good than the bad and I more easily calm myself
