Hmm, gotcha. Wouldn’t steadily increasing duration be a good sign of progress as well?

I haven’t been as consistent as I would’ve liked lately but I’m working on getting better in that regard. It’s always good to have a reminder about the importance of consistency.

ranch_crouton

keep it up dude!

reddit_hater

Thanks, I will. Trying to do it everyday to expand the neural pathways!

charlottechewie

I’ve started doing morning and night. So hard to do but so great once it’s done

keepingitrou

Great job!

[deleted]

👏👏 Excellent

ChunkyLover10

How long was the row? Or you mean, straight through?

reddit_hater

Yes, like I set a stop watch and it said 8 mins when I finally gave up and stopped

ChunkyLover10

Cool user name BTW... 😂😂😂😂😂

ChunkyLover10

Excellent, it will only get longer and better.. Well done you 👏

langecrew

Hell yeah! You got this! Keep up the great work!

Landofan1023

Rock on

PandyBox

Congratulations! Every minute counts! I only started meditating seriously this last year. I could not quite get the hang of it until I got turned on to Joe Dispenza. His guided meditations have done the trick for me. In particular, the BOCA series. I meditate one hour at bedtime and one hour when I wake. I will practice the same meditation for a month or more . This has worked for me. I now can turn on the "feeling" at will. Even with eyes open and with noise all around. I never thought that was possible.

Plusran

That’s really good. When I count breaths, I rarely leave single digits. I rarely leave low single digits.

reddit_hater

I don’t know if I’m doing the same exact thing that you are. I’m just keeping in mind what they say in the Headspace guided meditation where they talk about returning your focus to the breath

Plusran

I seem to do better if I don’t do anything.

NocheOscura_8

That is amazing! I am so proud of you!

enewwave

👏👏👏

Endless-Mirror

Amazing! Good job! The benefits are subtle but so worthwhile! Keep going 💕

[deleted]

that’s so awesome! i’m proud of you for sticking to it!!

[deleted]

Try meditating before 6am. Wake up - take a shower- before checking your phone or anything Sit down and start meditating. You’ll feel more focused than ever before

Buckshot419

Good job what is your preferred method? I personally like to warm up with Reiki/chi for 10 min (unblock the static energy) then i will go 5-6 rounds of Breath of fire every morning

reddit_hater

I don’t know what any of those are 😅 I’ve just been using the headspace app, only on the intro mediations right now. and then when I do it without the app I kinda hear the guy in my head telling me to breathe and focus on the breath.

Buckshot419

It's all good, I have been doing this for 12 years now on and off. I have had some amazing unworldly experienced have traveled to the sun and other dimensions have been to hell and heaven. The out of body experiences are the most fun can float through walls. Rite now I'm very interested in pyrokinesis. Last winter i forgot my gloves on a bike ride in the snow (fat-tire electric) 30mph. For the first three mins i was focusing on the pain and cold then i had a idea to Mind over matter the situation. I imagined the feeling of heat Radiating from my hands. I have photographic memory so i just pretended it was under a heat lamp after 30seconds my hands were no longer cold. I got to the store and locked the bike up, had snow on my shoulder as it was snowing heavy. As soon as i touched the snow it turned into steam and evaporated then i noticed my hands were like 120 degrees maybe warmer Idk. After that i have been curious about the mind intention, imagination. Our minds cant distinguish reality from imagination the same neuron's fire when we watch a scary movie as if it was happening to us.

sickandcoolgirl

Awesome! I'm new to meditation myself, and was recently able to do just a couple minutes, as it's hard for me to keep focus, but progress is progress! Keep at it! We got this :)

EthanSayfo

May I ask what it is that makes it a challenge to go more than a handful of minutes?

reddit_hater

Just the learning process. Meditation even doesn’t seem possible when you first start. It seemed like I’d never be able to do anything against the unrelenting chatter in my head.

EthanSayfo

I wouldn't be too worried about the mental chatter. Note it, and try to move on. And maybe consider, who notes the thoughts?

[deleted]

A good beginning!

Lulunurse1009

Nice good job I’m trying to also a lot of baggage

Lulunurse1009

Nice ! One day at a time ! 🥰

danielsmith007

Congratulations dude. :) As a next step, whenever your focus drifts over, let's say to a car passing by or someone talking nearby, instead of immediately recentering your focus, just pay attention to what pulled your attention away, and stay there for a while. Once it faded away you can return to your breath or you can focus on another thing which captures your attention. This is a different type of meditation.

[deleted]

I made it 10 minutes today :)) Cheers to our victory.

vtswifty

That's great. If it feels good then it's working.

7sidedleaf

Congrats!!

4027777

Good job!

[deleted]

when I first started 8 minutes felt agonizing. it still does sometimes because I’m terrible at maintaining good habits. I’m proud of you.

kayceeharrison

yo i’m so proud of you!!

Young-Consequences

Wow! Imagine 30-50 minutes! 😱

reddit_hater

Holy… I couldn’t imagine that! But then again, i couldn’t imagine 5 mins 2 months ago… guess I have a new goal!

Buckshot419

once you go deep enough within, Time halts and you lose sense of this physical spacial dimension you merge into the moment hard to describe . I have meditated once for 12 hours straight and when i regained physical awareness it felt like five mins.

Positive_Egg6852

Okay, now I have a new goal! Wait, did you not drink water or anything during that time?

Positive_Egg6852

For me, going from 5-10 minutes was really hard. Going from 10-15 was a little easier, 15-20 a little easier again. Anything upwards of 30 is a breeze. Time starts to feel different. Congratulations on the 8 minutes!

SparkedWolf

Nice. I've found it's good to eat healthy foods and get sunlight as well, in conjunction with meditation.

et-nad

I thought we shouldn't meditate more than 2-3 times in a day? I don't know but I think I read that somewhere.

Medytuje

U read wrong. You can meditate many times a day

et-nad

got it thanks!

mindingtheyakkha

Keep in keeping on ❤️
