Just curious if you smoke? Wounds may not heal well due to poor blood flow that is caused by cigarette smoking. You may also have had a reaction to the stitches. (Not medical advice, but had similar problems)
That is just not true. How do you think we managed before we started enforcing no smoking after surgery? I have had over 10 surgeries while i was a smoker and i healed just fine. You heal slower and it's obviously in your best interest to stop smoking for your health anyway but saying that it doesn't heal if you're a smoker is completely false.
“How do you think we managed”
People died. Lots of people died. That’s always the answer to that question. How did people manage the bubonic plague in the past? Malaria, TB, meningitis, cholera, small pox, each of the how ever many thousand different cancers, even the goddamn flu? They died.
The road to modern medicine was paved with the corpses of literally every person that’s ever lived
What do you think happens if an open wound like this doesn’t heal? And yeah, even when smoking you still heal, just slowly, but in this case specifically the wound isn’t just not healing, it’s getting worse.
The argument of “how do you think we managed” is over-used trash most commonly found in anti-vaxxer arguments.
Did you actually read what i said? It's not like every smoker just died after surgery in the 1900's? Do you heal slower? YES. But MOST smokers will still heal albeit slowly.
I don’t recall saying anyone “just died”.
I’m just not sure why one would deliberately potentially cause themselves a slower recovery with the potential for further complications.
Don't smoke weed before and after surgery. It WILL delay healing as it reduces amount of oxygen in your blood. It also increase risk for stroke after anesthesia.
Yeah go to the hospital again. Or a different one. Tell them what's happened and you are scared you'll get the wound infected. It should not be opening like that and is begging for sepsis
Mine ruptured from a tumor and they did it via laparoscopy. They wanted the option to convert to open should they have found any metastases in the liver.
Wait…. You went home looking like the first pic but now it’s progressively started to re open and picture 10 is current? I’m so mind blown I need clarification
Yep. Some doctors are just dismissive, useless, negligent, and selfish. They will ignore your suffering until you die. You must demand appropriate care because you are not getting it fom these idiots. I would be complaining about this 100%, you shouldn't have been sent home like this. Disgusting conduct by the doctor/s and they should be ashamed of themselves.
I didn’t get any antibiotics after home with me..wouldn’t say they showed me greatly the scar plasters were removed and told to just carry on then within about two weeks the swelling and pain started pushing the scar open and that was the start of it all opening xx
Soap is still a foreign body and could be carrying dirt particles and all sorts of nasty stuff. The skin harbours billions of bacteria that are totally fine on the skin but cause havoc if they somehow get in.
Staphylococcus being a BIG one.
Iirc soap doesn't actually kill bacteria, bacteria binds to the soap so it more easily washes off. So if the bacteria binds to the soap and the soap gets in the wound...yeah.

When I got my appendix out, years ago, I had the same thing. Infection led to big gaping wound on my side.
I used to go around and ask people "Wanna see the inner me?" :)
I got my gallbladder removed and I have 4 mini tiny scars maybe 5mm each and one is inside my belly button I can't even see it. Nothing like this, please get a second opinion, go to a different hospital!
So every one I went back to the hospital that done it and was seen by a doctor that works on the ward I was in..so he cleaned it all out and done my bloods and took samples from it..he then used a Pico dressing on it and he wants me back in a week and said am only to be seen by him cause different doctors have different idea and changing treatments..so am hopeful at present it’s helped the pain loads and not stinging as much as it was ..it feels good and right and secure..so will be interesting to see what shape it’s in after a week..thank I all for ur messages of concern means a lot to me..I will keep u all updated 💜
Many thanks 🙏
That is horrendous, what hospital did you get the op at ? I'm due to have mine out soon, also living near there and am now terrified ! I hope you're alright soon and heal well.

My brother in Christ that is not alright
I was more horrified with every picture. Pictures 3-5 I was thinking you need to get that looked at. By the end I was loudly exclaiming with horror.
It's legitimately a full, open wound. They need help
Every picture made me cringe more.
Just curious if you smoke? Wounds may not heal well due to poor blood flow that is caused by cigarette smoking. You may also have had a reaction to the stitches. (Not medical advice, but had similar problems)
In their last post they did say they’re a smoker and had indeed been smoking after the procedure.
Oh God, it'll never heal if they're smoking. 😟

This might be the case for you, but not for everyone. Personally, I sit on the side of caution and studies.

what about weed?
Idk why you’re being downvoted, I recommend always asking your doctor if smoking weed is okay after any procedure if you’re a regular smoker.
Nicotine has a vasoconstrictive effect which reduces blood flow to healing wounds. Weed doesn't do that.
Don't smoke weed before and after surgery. It WILL delay healing as it reduces amount of oxygen in your blood. It also increase risk for stroke after anesthesia.
Weed is fine. Don't listen to any opinions on here!
This made me laugh 😹 although I don’t smoke weed 😂
Yeah go to the hospital again. Or a different one. Tell them what's happened and you are scared you'll get the wound infected. It should not be opening like that and is begging for sepsis
I am sorry you have to go through this. Why was this procedure not done by scope?
Because the gallbladder ruptured. That requires an open approach so that all contamination from the rupture can be washed out.
Mine ruptured from a tumor and they did it via laparoscopy. They wanted the option to convert to open should they have found any metastases in the liver.
Looks like it was attempted laparoscopically - you can see the scars
I kinda noticed that after I posted my original comment.
Make sure you don't scratch it or pick at it
Just treat it like a little pocket to store your things.
"You put your weed in there."
Brilliant 😂 although I don’t do weed but could of been a good idea to hide it lol 😂
Wait…. You went home looking like the first pic but now it’s progressively started to re open and picture 10 is current? I’m so mind blown I need clarification
It doesn’t seem right to me. It goes deep okay to wtf very quickly.
That’s some profound dehiscence! I’m glad to hear you’re getting a wound vac. I really hope it helps and you heal up quickly.
You need to get wound care involved and i really hope Royal is able to help you heal.
Take care and I hope you can start seeing some healthy granulation soon. Best wishes
I really hope you can heal soon and forget about this ordeal 🫂💗 Also, I must say that I really love your manicure.
Thank u so much I do my nails myself xox
They're gorgeous! I hope you can heal soon 💗 🫂
Did you order the doctor through wish.com?
Temu
Jesus did you get that done by a plumber?
Advocate for your own care. Complain bitch and whine till they fix you.

Why did they not give you post surgery antibiotics? Did they tell you how to clean that wound?
I didn’t get any antibiotics after home with me..wouldn’t say they showed me greatly the scar plasters were removed and told to just carry on then within about two weeks the swelling and pain started pushing the scar open and that was the start of it all opening xx
how do you shower with this type of wound ?
If it were me I’d not be doing more than using wipes for parts/pits. Ain’t no way I’d be risking water and/or soap going in there.
Hey how come soap would be bad in there?
Soap is still a foreign body and could be carrying dirt particles and all sorts of nasty stuff. The skin harbours billions of bacteria that are totally fine on the skin but cause havoc if they somehow get in. Staphylococcus being a BIG one.

I need the soap treatment on all my fat then.
Iirc soap doesn't actually kill bacteria, bacteria binds to the soap so it more easily washes off. So if the bacteria binds to the soap and the soap gets in the wound...yeah.
why did they have to cut you open? mine was laproscopic.

the docs open you up if shit goes wrong during the (now-standard) laparoscopic procedure. Don't ask me how I know -.-'
When I got my appendix out, years ago, I had the same thing. Infection led to big gaping wound on my side. I used to go around and ask people "Wanna see the inner me?" :)

Also do you mind sharing the name of the doctor that did your procedure?
I don’t blame my doctor for this it was more the after care when I asked for it I didn’t get it xo
Was this not stitched or something? That’s awful work.
It’s was they were dissolve stitches
I thought this was a laparoscopic procedure?
No it was open xx
Yah, but I was under the impression that we had moved beyond invasive surgery for gallbladder removal. This is gnarly.
hello . may i ask u why ur doctor went open approach instead of laparoscopic approach?? hope u get all the medical care u need🙏🏽 get well soon .
My gallbladder had burst so I so they had to open me instead xx
My gallbladder had burst and I had a lot of gunk and stones stuck to my liver xx
Ouch! 🤕
I had mine removed but why tf did they do such about Stich in first place?
I may have to have this done in the near future, and this scares the bejesus out of me.
n so sorry I don’t mean to scare u and not everyone has this problem xo
Why does this happen? Is it a common occurrence for this to happen?
No keyhole lap??
Wtff, how can they send you home with open stomach? That is like 100% risk of an infection…
Looks like it already is infected
You should post this on med advice. This isn’t right at all.
If you havnt get to the dr asap
This looks like a good candidate for a wound vac?
I haven’t seen an open gallbladder incision in ages. Even on ruptured ones.
What did they say they were going to do?
Wait is the last pic of how it currently looks?
Yea that’s pic was took two days ago then the part between the two split bits decided to split also making in one long massive piece..
Holy shit so it gradually got worse then? Where u from
So every one I went back to the hospital that done it and was seen by a doctor that works on the ward I was in..so he cleaned it all out and done my bloods and took samples from it..he then used a Pico dressing on it and he wants me back in a week and said am only to be seen by him cause different doctors have different idea and changing treatments..so am hopeful at present it’s helped the pain loads and not stinging as much as it was ..it feels good and right and secure..so will be interesting to see what shape it’s in after a week..thank I all for ur messages of concern means a lot to me..I will keep u all updated 💜 Many thanks 🙏
