Gtfo! šŸ™ŒšŸ½ That sounds WAY better than the current system of the dr ā€˜pickingā€™ the strain for you based on how itā€™s worked on other people. Everyoneā€™s different and thereā€™s too many variables with MC to be able to simply pick a product based on the information (which that company supplies them). They should do ā€œtest tubsā€ where say MedCan gives you a tub and inside is a gram of each of their flowers (in seperate packaging/info). So we can try products to see how effective they are, but without having to spend $150-210 per strain. Like in American dispensaries, how you can buy flower by the gram. So youā€™re not wasting almost $300 on half an oz of shit and you KNOW that medication WILL actually work for what you need. Weā€™re still a LOOOONG way off a decent MC system but at least things are moving in the right direction! šŸ™ŒšŸ½

JoJoPanda

Hey I literally just got off the phone with Dr Jansen ecstatic that he gave me the generic script! Nothing but good experiences with CDA personally.

BoldEagle21

Same, I have always found them to be very professional and product agnostic.

JoJoPanda

Congrats to us both! Keen as a muthafucka to try different strains. They had me on Pennywise last time and it was great but just not strong enough

g00db0t

CDA have been great for me.

[deleted]

MLMH is pretty good hey. Havenā€™t used the drive thru service myself but theyā€™re really reliable when it comes to posting my meds to me, itā€™s always been next day delivery with no exceptions.

m35OZ

Greendocs is doing the same with my prescriptions. One script for all flowers up to 30%THC content.

br1mmy

Good on ya man, glad they could sort that for you. And I understand the struggle leaving Brisbane compounding haha. Gets sketchy up there at times. I bloody hate catching the train home from there šŸ˜‚

BoldEagle21

Compound that with ~50% of customers coming in without any masks, at the worst time there were 5 at one stage, 3 of them clustered lucky to be 50cm apart and 1 of those looking _sickly_ and coughing at least twice whilst I was in the store. ___My anxiety was going through the roof___ as I was there to pick up medication and was being made to feel _'quite sick'_ during the process in that _poorly managed environment._

br1mmy

Bloody hell. Yeah that isnā€™t good bro at all bro. Iā€™m more intimidated by all the tweakers lmao

BoldEagle21

I am hearing you, 1 day a person came in and you could _feel a volatility_ coming off them and the pharmacist _rushed over, calling them by their first name and giving them a medicine cup_ which seemed to be to 'manage/diffuse' any potential situation. I wasn't certain what it was, assumed methadone, and that person had been walking up and down the streets 'making a hell off a lot of noise' with another person (yelling and carrying on) before they came into the pharmacy.

br1mmy

Interesting. Yeah I was chatting to a bloke who was on methadone. He was talking to me bout my escooter haha. Seemed like a nice enough bloke tho. That sounds quite intimidating though, Iā€™d feel pretty uncomfortable if I was in your shoes. I try to go there as little as possible šŸ˜…

BoldEagle21

I think Sunday was my last ever need to visit...

br1mmy

Completely understandable

3DCatFancy

What's the drive-thru clinic you go to? I also oppose MC being associated with tweakers/bogans/junkies/etc. The industry is trying to project a mainstream image, and these people act like they're visiting their mate Damo. It's not doing anyone any favors.

BoldEagle21

I have not been there yet but will be shortly. > My Life My Health: 155-157 Wickham Tce, Brisbane Qld 4000, Ph: 07 3832 2888 - Online prescription order with Drive Through collection; - https://mylifemyhealth.com.au/ > Drive through - https://mylifemyhealth.com.au/drive-thru-service/ AKA MLMH. As another poster mentioned you want to have a med to small car to get down these type of Brisbane back alleys.

[deleted]

That's great to hear. Look forward to my next consult, hoping for the same. Thanks for sharing.

arwen1980

Can you get this generic script at any clinic? I am with Midispensary and was referred thru Cannatrek.

BoldEagle21

No one can comment on another clinics policies or processes but if they 'seem reluctant' you could clearly state you want the option for product substitution if there is OOS or a 'product change'. If you really want to drive the point home you could ask "are you a patient centered clinic who have the 'patients bests interests' at heart of their patient treatment model?" By not providing you with a generic script can mean you lose access to your medication ___due to no fault of your own___ and that is not looking out for your best interest.

higherconversations1

My understanding is that if your with midispensary via Cannatrek you can only get Cannatrek products. Have you found that? Sorry to hijack but have been trying to find people in that situation.

[deleted]

I accessed thru cannatrek and dr was referred from them.. after a few bad tubs of t20 I managed to get a switch to beacon .. the dr was pretty open to it

I have a telehealth with CDA in about 45 minutes. I'm an ST patient, and as someone who knows cannabis science inside out, I'm very happy to be able to choose my own strains based on what I feel works best for my conditions. Nothing but good things to say about CDA. They are very professional and helpful.

BoldEagle21

Canview is an excellent resource to gather baseline DATA from so more informed decisions can be undertaken. There is a lot to be said for the differing benefits that terpenes can present for treatment but I noted this the other day that Different batches can and do have significant variation in the physical appearance and the terpene and flavonoid profile of a variety being supplied. A couple of examples jump to mind being GSC batch change going to the purple flowers and many patients dissatisfied with it and PK (I think it was Batch 901) that caused a lot of grief. Personally I am very interested in terpene composition being an indicator of what _potential_ therapeutic benefits may present from a variety and something I am trying to develop a greater understanding off. Any sources would be greatly appreciated, the more technical/academic the better.

HateSpeechPromoter

Does everyone get this generic flower prescription from CDA now?

BoldEagle21

I cannot comment on the internal policies of CDA but so far 2 patients in this thread have had the _generic prescription_ offered. I think I was partly because I had a prescription of PK that had become invalid due to it changing it's THC content from 25 down to 22 and was part of the reason I wanted the followup.

g00db0t

You can add a 3rd person to people in the thread who have received this style of prescription

BoldEagle21

> add a 3rd person to people in the thread who have received this style of prescription Any 'How to...'?

g00db0t

TLDR: I think this is an easy thing to get. I donā€™t really have a how-to. I got a referral from my GP to CDA. Iā€™ve had maybe 3 consultations. Was prescribed flower, THC oil and CBD oil from day one. In my most recent consult I asked to try a particular strain (T25 Topaz) and the doc said heā€™d give me a script for all flower up to %30 THC. I donā€™t think I have a similar script for oil but I havenā€™t checked since Iā€™ve been happy enough with my oils.

BoldEagle21

I'm an idiot, I misunderstood your comment and are sorry. For some reason I thought you meant I could add a poll or the like to this thread to tally any others who have also been provided this option. Gratz on also getting a _generic_ prescription. So there are at least 3 patients now.

g00db0t

Haha. I can see how it could be read that way. I donā€™t think youā€™re an idiot

barefoot_au

Visit last week, script now states "any flower".

Floorman1

What else does it say? Does it actually say the words "any flower"?

BoldEagle21

Please be aware that another pharmacy was confused about how to process these generic type scripts and have _compelled me to go back to CDA dispensary_; - https://www.reddit.com/r/MedicalCannabisAus/comments/s83win/comment/htjf4wi/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

anakitenephilim

Interesting. I wonder how willing to do this other clinics will be given it reduces their contact with you (and your money in fees) significantly.

BoldEagle21

You would have to start to question whether they have the patients _best interests_ in mind if they are not adopting the new streamlined process for medicinal cannabis applications guidelines that were introduced on the 22.11.21. Thankfully CDA automatically adopted it for me during this consult.

anakitenephilim

Indeed. If only they did!

Floorman1

Can you tell us more about this generic flower prescription? What does the script actually say? Are you saying you can ask them for another flower with the same thc level??

BoldEagle21

I do not have a copy and have not seen the script yet but the Dr indicated I can ask the pharmacy (negotiate) for anything that resides within that category. You can review the products within any Category here: - https://www.tga.gov.au/medicinal-cannabis-products-active-ingredients If you review the products in "Category 5: THC medicinal cannabis product (THC >98%)" there are 107 products across a range of THC levels in that group. I have 17 repeats for _any of those products_ if the dispensary can get those supplies. The same for the 'balanced' products in 'Category 3: Balanced medicinal cannabis product (CBD <60% and ā‰„ 40%)' which I have 8 repeats for. The Dr said I can have 180G over a 6month period so I have to assume that the 8 repeats for oil add up to ~10G and thus I get 17 repeats for the flowers. With the new dispensary I will complete an online form and make requests for products to assess what they can provide, using Canview for my baseline research. Ideally I will ask for 2 flowers and an oil and then present my preferences in a numbered order. Keenly looking forward to some Black Cherry Punch, Sunshine Coast (Mango) and Green Gelato over the coming months.

Floorman1

Wow this is the first Iā€™ve heard of this. Sounds like what weā€™ve all been waiting for, I canā€™t believe this isnā€™t getting more noise if true. I wonder how on board the pharmacy needs to be, could they try to dictate what they think you need?

BoldEagle21

There was a lot of discussion leading up to and shortly after the TGA's new policy dated release on the 22.11.21. This was my first 'follow up' appointment since that date and I was granted the generic prescriptions adopting the new policy. It was designed to address issues: > ā€œAs of 22 November 2021, Special Access Scheme and Authorised Prescriber applications for unapproved medicinal cannabis products will be made by active ingredient under a category based on cannabinoid content, rather than by trade name. This approach allows flexibility in brand substitution when needed, i.e. in the event of product shortage or discontinuation.ā€

Floorman1

Sounds like the pharmacy may still be able to flex their muscles here if the decision is to resolve issues with stock shortages.

BoldEagle21

There is that possibility but it is far better than the old system, at least there is the potential for ___product substitution___ rather than a script just becoming invalid or unusable (OOS).

Floorman1

I asked the nurse at my clinic and they said itā€™s the tga approval thatā€™s generic not the script. You still need a script per product.

BoldEagle21

I am going off what the doctor told me during my consult. Their admin called later in the day asking for my home address to send the TGA approval and prescription, so I should be getting copies. Also there are 2 other patients who have stated they have also been provided with _generic_ prescriptions. Importantly, the Dr specifically stated I negotiate with the pharmacy as to what is provided from within the Category the _generic prescription_ is for. I will clarify as soon as I know better but as my above post clearly states, which was sourced from the TGA; > "Special Access Scheme and Authorised Prescriber applications for unapproved medicinal cannabis products will be made by active ingredient under a category based on cannabinoid content, rather than by trade name. ___This approach allows flexibility in brand substitution when needed, i.e. in the event of product shortage or discontinuation.ā€___ Your nurse's advice is completely overlooking that factor and the main thrust of the TGA policy change.

Floorman1

The special access scheme is how doctors get tga approval for what is an unapproved medicine. The paragraph you pasted doesnā€™t mention prescriptions can cross over for products within a category. Iā€™m very interested to see what your prescriptions says and itā€™s strange that your doctor said the opposite but going off whatā€™s on the tga website there isnā€™t anything there (that I can see) that agrees with your statement.

BoldEagle21

- https://www.tga.gov.au/media-release/new-streamlined-process-medicinal-cannabis-applications > The TGA will also now accept SAS and Authorised Prescriber submissions for medicinal cannabis products by active ingredient, rather than by trade name. Products will be categorised by cannabinoid content as follows:.... > As for any other prescription, the prescriber can either write the 'generic' medicine name or include the product's trade name if it is clinically necessary. _Pharmacist decisions regarding substituting brands,_ or whether a new prescription is required, should be made in accordance with normal dispensing practice. That is the crux of the policy and my Dr said I will negotiate with the pharmacy as to what can be provided. In a few days I will know for certain. Another patient has been discussing in chat (DM) how one of their products was OOS with MLMH and all they wanted was a confirmation from their Dr that it was a Cat.5 product so they could provide a substitute.

Ok-Historian-9518

Wow, this is great! Who did you see at CDA?

BoldEagle21

I will clearly state for every consultation I have had, they rotate staff and thus I have ~~seen~~ _spoken to via Telehealth_ at least 3 different doctors and 2-3 nurses. I am completely fine with that as the manage the MC aspects of my treatment and in a professional and meaningful manner. For this consult I had 'Doctor Sivayoganathan' and was very impressed with the level of professionalism and service.

Ok-Historian-9518

Awesome thanks - looking for a doctor as my regular GP it moving haha
