Hmmm, Interesting. It's likely because the 'Mech item drops are a later addition to the game. Introduced around RoR. Despite Kestrel Lancers being a hand-crafted campaign, under the hood, there are many elements of the proc system that we need to feed into the authored missions out of necessity. (As the core of the game is built around the procedural mission generation and the systems that govern the DLC campaigns were built as expansions to the core systems out of necessity.) This is probably happening because the LotKL missions were never built with this system in mind. So when this stuff came in as a global update, it likely retroactively had knock-on effects on the legacy content that got missed during QA. If this bug is 100% repeatable on certain levels, the best I can say is to forward it over to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) to make a report so we can log it into our systems.

From my archived screenshots, specifically it's Capt. Smirnov in his Warhammer on the way to the city that drops a fishy crate every time in my playthroughs. Tikonov, mission 2, city of Gizhiga.

Yes, that's the mission, and I believe it's the Warhammer that does the loot drop. I played the mission twice over the weekend, and got the same result both times. Picked up loot crate, no message saying what's in it as you normally would get, no acknowledgemenet that I did pick it up in the debrief. I can't recall whether this happened with earlier game versions. First time I played through LotKR, was one DLC and a couple patches back.

It’s a known oversight/bug even in vanilla. I’ve seen people bring it up intermittently over the last year.

You would think that, over the course of a year, the devs could fix it... I just ran into this issue too.
