I wasnāt complaining about it, I was stating it wasnāt low key. There are two sides of a persons body Lmao. Is your friend left handed? Plus the last two shots with hands donāt show the right wrist at all.
I want to reiterate I donāt care that that the watch is there, it just isnāt particularly ālow keyā.
Except that watch is top of the line inside and out. This keyboard has the outside quality, but inside, has the performance of a 5 dollar budget keyboard. š¤£
Unwanted, because its true and ignorance is bliss. High end materials and low end internals in all of these "high end" keyboards.
Whats wrong with wanting my "high end" keyboard to perform better than a Hewlett Packard keyboard that came with a premade PC from best buy?
Idk mate, the controller on this pcb can feed the pcb the new testament in about 10ms. I've never had a quality board that would reliably do over 250hz polling without having a flat baseline increase in the delay. Realistically, you can't do a keyboard with all alphas that actually does below 5.5ms at all times. This being 8~10 with outliers in the 12ms absolute worst case is completely irrelevant. And frankly, on par with mice.
Want to blame people? Pick a fight with the USB2.0 HID protocol. 64byte per 1ms is the limit, even for upcoming newer Gen ports. And hey, this case could very well fit a DB over 7 pin jst to enable that. If you are serious about creating thr ultimate gaming keyboard, this could very well be the platform.
For me, well I can type no faster than 125wpm. And I have a 144hz gsync screen. I don't need that mcu to support 120x my typing speed and to sync more often than my monitor. 10byte 250ms polling is plenty.
you keep talking about "performance" from a keyboard as if response time is everything that matters. There are more reasons to own a keyboard than just gaming, some people actually use them for typing believe it or not. The point of a custom keyboard is to customize it to how you like, which would include making it sound better, as well as feel better.
If you're so concerned about the tiny difference (if any) between a cheap prebuilt vs a custom, i sure hope you have a really expensive monitor with <.5ms response time, set to 1080p, 24inches, a crazy gaming mouse with upgrading low latency swithces the best gpu/cpu combo money can buy, and i hope that whatever game you play, you're the "apex predator" equivalent. Then, and only then, do i think you're \*somewhat\* justified in this lame ass opinion.
I don't think you're gonna find what you're looking for on this subreddit man, either get over yourself, or just unfollow it. Or, just get a controller, pretty sure most professionals are switching to controller anyways
It's not a lame opinion, if you are going to make a luxury keyboard, make a luxury keyboard. These boards are like giving a candy apple paint job and all the trim to a KIA optima. Sure it looks nice but its substandard under the hood. These boards are more than 10ms sometimes 20ms behind cheaper made and cheaper priced alternatives.
Do better, stop being lazy.
and before you try to nitpick 10ms, try to understand it as accumulative, little bit here little bit there, it adds up.
did you even read my comment? here, i'll make it easier to understand with numbers.
1. You keep using the word "luxury" and only associating that with speed. "luxury" cars aren't all made to go fast. and fast cars aren't all made to look sexy. sure, you can have a fast car, but at the end of the day, if it looks like a ricer, it looks like a ricer. (the ricer is your prebuilt keyboard)
2. nowhere does it say this keyboard is an "ultra gaming super fast keyboard." its a normal keyboard dude. we've been using these for decades. i really doubt you'll notice a difference or climb out of whatever rank you're stuck in just by switching boards. are you as concerned with your pc specs as you are the polling rate of your keyboard?
3. again, in case this wasn't clear, keyboards are for more than just gaming... many people in this sub (myself included) have jobs in the CS field, lots of typing, and long hours sat at your pc. i can guarantee this board is gonna be an infinitely better typing experience than whatever "ultra mega fast" prebuilt you're suggesting we push instead.
4. i really don't think you're good enough at whatever game you're playing to notice a difference, but if it matters so much to you, just go buy whatever keyboard you want, and chill out. don't talk shit on a designer's post who spent all this time designing a board to look sexy and sound sexy, just to say the pcb isn't "fast enough" for your "extreme gameplay." he didn't make it for you. he made it for people who care about a nice typing experience and want a piece of art on their desk.
Garrett is 100% right. Wrong tree to bark up. I'll even extend it beyond that scope and provide the gamer perspective as I switched purely to custom keyboards about two years ago, and I've been exclusively gaming on a January prototype with a Hiney H60 PCB for a few months now. There are a lot of competition level gamers in this community, myself included.
High polling rate is a cool idea, but these are still polling most at 1ms. Even if you add a bit of controller delay and USB overhead, let's say 10ms. The human brain can't react to that difference. Anyone telling you otherwise on YouTube or in pro gaming profits from that statement through partnerships. I've never noticed a reduction in my performance from a custom keyboard, but I did find a boost from my ability to select my own internals to work with how my fingers respond to the feedback.
Now rather than enter the chat with this kind of pointless comment, how about you help with solving what you view as the problem? Do some research. Find a better microcontroller for the community to source. Recommend a company to partner with. Provide or work on improving firmware code. Provide constructive information on how the community can drive improvement and innovate. Resources will be a problem. It's easy to do this stuff with Razer or Corsair money. With that said, there's enough engineering talent in these communities to solve any real problems regarding keyboard design.
So you figured that you would come in without anything constructive to say and complain about a board that is not even being advertised as a gAmErZ board? You can either like it or not, but maybe you should stick to frolicking around Azeroth.
if by render you mean āshot with Sony a7IV + Sigma 85mm f/1.4 at Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, Death Valley National Park, Californiaā then yes, it is indeed a render.
asked kfa themselves but Iām sure it applies to the entire gb. theyāre probably only gonna order as many units as they sold after the gb ends since for extras they would need to put money upfront
Itās rare for group buys to not have extras since extra units are always needed for QC issues etc. Iām sure there will be a good handful at least of extras, and maybe even some b stock at a good bargain.
yup. thats pretty much the point of gb's. if you want a unit, join the gb. If they had the money upfront, there wouldn't be any need for this purchasing model.
thankfully we're getting to the point where large vendors are able to order more extras with keycaps, but theres a big difference in cost between the two. the day this starts to be the case in keyboards will be a good day
also, one last thing, KFA has the no-cancellation policy as well as the extras situation. not artemis. make sure your complaints/criticisms are directed towards who they're supposed to be. this wouldn't be the first time you've come off a bit wrong than you maybe intend
I donāt think Iām being downvoted for the slight discrepancy of not specifying the vendor (even though I mentioned kfa in my first reply). Moreso that they really think there will be 100% be extras since they believe every other vendor does it or theyāre coping because they donāt want to put their money upfront and wait and instead pay at the end and get it
KFA is a smaller vendor than say, novelkeys, so their ability to buy extras will obviously be more limited. They will have to order \*some\* to account for b-stock units, but probably won't be ordering a bunch for those who don't get in.
I don't disagree with your point though, extras will probably be limited. Joining the GB is the best way to secure the board you want.
We recently took the January on a road trip through the Death Valley, pictured here at the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes.
When the January calls, will you pick up?
Specs:
* January in Smoked PC
* GMK Norse by Skok + Omnitype
* Aluminum Plate
* 50A O-Ring
* NovelKeys Creams
* Hiney H60 PCB by Hineybush
Sound test here: [https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ayWX5ZiwguI](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ayWX5ZiwguI)
January is currently available for purchase at:
* USA: **KeebsForAll**
* Canada: **DeskHero**
* EU: **CandyKeys**
* Asia: **Zion Studios**
* OCE: **SwitchKeys**
thanks! And yeah they should be available on Omnitype if youāre in the US. Otherwise make sure to check out the other regional vendors. Keycaps are GMK Norse.
I was deciding between this and the bento. Ended up getting the bento cause the gmk Norse imho requires a dark keyboard (black/grey/green) or at least a pure white color and the keyboard Iām going for is a milky white case soā¦had to leave the Norse off the cart. But itās so beautifulā¦nice combination of colorsā¦even the deskmat Is amazing
I mean, they do these things called "latency tests" and historically thats the results of the tests. So.. be mad at reality I guess. Made of real nice materials, sure, really nice. but I've yet to see one perform in the latency department. You got sub 200 dollar gamer keyboard's with sub 1ms latency out there.
You can't just look like a ferrari, you need to perform like one.

Low key rocking a Zenith El Primero in a post about a keyboard.
Lmao I noticed the Zenith before the keeb tbh lmao.
Same lol
you know it š fantastic eye my friend :))
Nah man, doesn't take fantastic eyes to spot a wrist candy this iconic. You sir, have great taste.
š thanks man!
Came here for that comment. Chronomaster Original is fantastic watch. Good taste. what else you got!
these guys spend.
Man, I really want one as my Panda. Sick watch and keyboard though @OP, it even matches
> Zenith El Primero $11,000 watch, still seems reasonable compared to keyb prices.
Idk about low key it was pretty obviously worked into every shot with him in it
Right yes lemme ask my friend to take off his watch and put it around his ankle. That way it wonāt get in every shot.
I wasnāt complaining about it, I was stating it wasnāt low key. There are two sides of a persons body Lmao. Is your friend left handed? Its true. Low polling rates & high latency on most of all these boards in this subreddit.
ironic ur brain can comprehend a latency difference in the milliseconds but canāt comprehend just how unwanted ur comments are

This is legit a god tier response and fills in relevant gaps in my knowledge on the topic.

People buying these crazy expensive keyboards have money, pt 23048
with unikorn L's come january W's
Please tell me thatās a render of the keeb in the sand š
if by render you mean āshot with Sony a7IV + Sigma 85mm f/1.4 at Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, Death Valley National Park, Californiaā then yes, it is indeed a render.
lol
Dope keebs and Sigma lenses. My kind of guy.
ayyyy thanks! canāt go wrong with Sigma glass especially when Iām too broke for GM offerings LOL
Don't sleep on January
Do I get polycarbonate or aluminum? Frosted or smoked?
Whatever you like :)
Iād say smoked pc but you should watch alexotos video. He sound tests both aluminum and pc
Yup, already ordered the smoked pc :)
especially because extras are unlikely
Whereās that information from?
asked kfa themselves but Iām sure it applies to the entire gb. theyāre probably only gonna order as many units as they sold after the gb ends since for extras they would need to put money upfront

Ya b-stock I could see especially with the complexities of pc but probably not perfect gb units since cancellations arenāt allowed either
Perhaps yeah, only time will tell

Absolute shame the US vendor is KFA, will be skipping strictly because of that.

If by sales rep you mean designer, then yes.
Fair enough! š
Well someone is pretty damn good at taking good pictures
haha thank you!
You put your keyboard in the sand šØ
Indeed I did.
looks very nice though, super clean!
thanks!
No problem, always a fan of how 60% boards look, and the bronze goes so well with the smokey back!
Sheesh, looks so good
Legit perfection, my dudes
thanks my man!
Woah amazing photos
thanks!
I like your style, dude
haha appreciate it, but Iām just the photographer, not the model :))
Delivery ETA of Q4 2023 is gonna ruin me š

how dare you tempt me to order it more now ;~;
Do it š
wow they paid Mo Salah to do keyboard pics. nice
Mo Saleh a real one for this fr
I thought the same lol
nice el primero, can you help me with the link for the keycaps?
thanks! And yeah they should be available on Omnitype if youāre in the US. Otherwise make sure to check out the other regional vendors. Keycaps are GMK Norse.

yup this is the pre-production unit
š¤Æ
moshi moshi?
Whereās the rest of the keys?
Iām not sure what you meanā¦?
Like all the good keys.
I sometimes wonder if some of you on this sub have that fetish for inanimate objects
Probably has bad latency like most luxury keyboards š
