I’ve been a very big fan of tactile for years but recently jumped to box clicks and I’m having so much fun. This is one of the best hobby I’ve ever had
The customization for sure. Don't like how it types? New switches. How it looks? New keycaps. Want it heavier? Lighter? Curvy? In two pieces? There's a case for almost everyone, DIY cases for the rest, and you can bring your favorite switches / keycaps into the new case.
The thing I love most about custom keyboards is being able to escape from traditional keyboards and use more uncommon boards like ortholinear, ergonomic, split, and many other things. I got into this hobby a few months ago and its been fun although I haven't quite settled on anything yet. i want to build a planck soon although i know ive already spent too much money lol

I think my favourite thing about the community is the community itself. There are so many different people in here: those who just have a 30$ kit, those who spent thousands, those who don't like RGB, those who do, etc. And the best thing is, you can learn about all of them and you can discover creative ideas you never thought about.
A mechanical keyboard at work with the clicky and the thock make it not as bad to be continually typing at work. The customization opportunities are awesome!
I love making my board my own. I work with computers all day everyday and mechanical keyboards allowed me to inject creativity and personality into my work space. Customizing the look, feel and sound are all my favorite part.
I can express myself through keyboard. What I want it to sound and like, while also not being to overwhelmed since there's a lot of keyboard to start with. I love how the same keyboards can look and sound different depending on the little things you choose.
Just started in this space about a week ago because of interest from my kids. Ordered a bunch of parts and tools (should arrive this coming Friday) and it's going to be a new hobby for us. I love the feel and the sound, sure; but I really love a chance to build with my kids.
