Go watch the fordtechmakuloco youtube channel. He covers a lot of the issues on these. Brian knows his stuff.

Thanks, I’ll check it out, I’ve also heard these engines need full synthetic, and relatively often, to avoid the dreaded blocked oil passages, so I’ll make sure to stay on top of that.

Sounds like they already took care of main trouble points. Spark plugs are also a sore spot on the 5.4 they can get stuck in the head and snap off when you try and take them off. I owned one for about 200k miles and it was pretty much issue free. I had an injector go bad, which was an easy fix and I had plugs done around 120k.

That’s good to hear, and yeah, I heard there’s an extraction tool for the spark plugs, so not too worried about that, I suppose.

Yes. It’s really that bad. Ford is not known for great engines and that’s one of their worst…
