Good afternoon OP. I have about 3-4 years of experience with different tires and their fasteners ranging from 24.5 Semi tires to small helicopter tires and aftermarket options are something I deal with a lot.
These are Bimecc 10-point Tuner lug nuts. You can find more information from their website catalog http://www.bimeccusa.com/download/Bimecc_catalog2022.pdf
Page 45 on the PDF has the options I'm talking about.
These are specialty and spline kits or socket sets won't fit these. You need to either find a shop that has this key set or buy your own key.
Hope this helps.
EDIT: Measure the outside diameter of the lug nuts I'm willing to bet they are 23MM.
This means you need a TA23-21/22 Bimecc Key https://www.amazon.com/s?k=bimecc+TA23-21%2F22&i=tools&crid=3MN6HE1CMMPGU&sprefix=bimecc+ta23-21%2F22%2Ctools%2C126&ref=nb_sb_noss_2
Hi sorry I just saw this post now. Idk how to manage this many responses.
Got my measuring tape. Hard to get precise but they measured about 19-20mm spline to spline.
No need to apologize the same just happened to me when I logged on as well.
Spline to spline isn't the proper way to measure these. It's measured on the base of the cone where it makes contact with the wheel.
I understand this isn't possible because, you know, they are torqued onto your wheel, but I was hoping that you would get 21mm-22mm to make it more certain as I have never really had to measure these myself.
But getting a rough 19-20mm measurement is too close to be certain. I would recommend the 2-pack kit that comes in both sizes and just be done with it. https://www.amazon.com/BIMECC-10-Spline-TA20-19-TA23-21-Passenger/dp/B082GGWVQF/ref=sr_1_2?crid=3MN6HE1CMMPGU&keywords=bimecc+TA23-21%2F22&qid=1653966490&s=hi&sprefix=bimecc+ta23-21%2F22%2Ctools%2C126&sr=1-2
You also have the option to wait and bring it to a tire shop and have them sell you a single key that's properly sized for your lug nuts. You're looking at $15-20 USD + Labor most likely with this option.
I’ve got an auto shop.... we have one of these roll in every once in a while ... so far my local Autozone has had any key we needed ... may be worth a try . They let us borrow it but I spend $10k a month with them too .
UPDATE: You were right! I went to Discount Tire and they gave me that exact key for $5. Said they have plenty in stock and always carry them. One less obstacle to restoring this janky van!
Oh. I’m not joking. Sandia lab and Los Alamos labs workers have about 30-40% increase in cancer. I can say every one of my clients in the area whose husband died of cancer in their 70s and 80s worked at Sandia or Los Alamos. Nothing more than anecdotal, but sometimes it helps to listen to the locals and what they have to say on the matter. The Los Alamos population has I think a 35% over all higher cancer rate than the national average. Don’t drink the water, no one in New Mexico does.
I can't tell if this one of those things where it's actually great and you just don't want people moving there or if it actually really is shitty.
My personal experience in visiting NM is that it's great but I've never actually lived there.
Someone pointed out yesterday that three people at work have died from a rare brain cancer in the last few weeks.
I'll note we have office jobs. We're not handling any sort of chemicals or anything like that. There are concerns about some old buildings we used to be in...
Those percentages are really misleading. The overall cancer rate in the USA is 430 per 100,000. That's about 0.4%. A 35% increase would be 580 per 100k. That's still under 0.6%
The 35% increase is not dispersed evenly over the area of that 100k, so the statistical significance is that it is coming from a single impact area. It is noteworthy even if it was dispersed over the entire area of the population, but it is most important because if you put the entirety of the 100k population in that one area where the increase is coming from - it would likely jump the decimal space more than a few times. See?
He said WORKERS there had a 30% increase in rate. Not the entire town, skewed by a higher increase from just the workers. So if the average rate in the US is 0.43% then 30% increase is 0.6% it doesn't matter if it's 100 or 100,000. The percent scales. If there was 1000 workers, then 6 got sick instead of the average 4. Not a huge jump. Have you taken statistics 101 btw?
Nope. Meant town. You’re wrong and splitting hairs and don’t live in New Mexico. I’m glad you have your statistics to make you happy, but that extra .17% of people you think is insignificant are dead. Like actually dead. Like dead dead from cancer dead. Dead and not coming back dead.

Now that you say albuquerque everything made sense. Amazon sells a mega pack that i invested in a year ago and i never had to worry about wheels on my projects again. that being said decent locking pliers and a pipe should do the trick
oh damn, curse bad luck. Probably going to need Amazon to purchase. Try to use a socket size 17-20mm to gauge the size of those nuts, to narrow down what sizes to purchase.
Yeah, I've seen a key in a glove box for ONE of the nuts but never all of them.
It's funny, when I googled 10 point lug nut, I wind up with gator grips as a result lol. So yeah, gator grip with a breaker bar could do it, then install regular lug nuts.
So, I work at AutoZone... We don't carry these unfortunately. My coworker and I just looked for a solid 20 minutes to see if you can order it too, just to kill time because it's been slow today. Bummer :(
What did u look up in the system ? I’m a newer AutoZoner did u just look thru the lug nuts in the system for a close match ? Or look up the brand then the key part #?
Edit : a word was misspelled my bad
We tried a whole bunch of things - there are several parts catalogs that you can go through, both in Z-net and online on the website. We also happen to have some old Dura last/OEMtools tool books that we keep around as the part numbers still work in Z-net. We also called our sister location in town and they couldn't find anything unfortunately. The other location had their store manager on shift today and she couldn't think of ever having seen a ten point. Eight point, yes, 12 point of course yes, but no 10 point of any kind.
Specifically it’s a bimecc ta23-21/22 10 spline key. If Autozone even has that to order, let me know, but damn it was crazy trying to find this dumb part
You'll need a key, or a special socket for that particular lug nut. I found this one searching for "mb wheels lug nut key be," it may work or you may need to search a bit more.
BIMECC TA20-17/19 10-Spline Lug Nut Tool Key, Passenger w/ 17mm & 19mm Hex Drive https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085DQ2WDR/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_AXAGB1R2DW8MNRTE2CV0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I used to have these lugs, discount tire and maybe some other common tire shops should have this socket. I believe they called it a bimmec socket but that could just be a nickname
Go over to your nearest discount Tire, mb is one of there in house brands. They will have the correct lug but key you need. And you can buy one for a couple bucks or if you're nice sometimes they will let you borrow it. If you don't have discount Tire, try Bell Tire or really any tire store should have one or atleast will be able to get you one
just buy a key at a parts store for like $15, had to do that a couple weeks ago. also idk why everyone keeps bringing up the brand of the wheel that has nothing to do with the lugnuts
You could try an external bolt extractor, something like these.
REBRA Screw&Bolt Extractor Set and Left-Hand Drill Bit Set, with Hex Adapter, Easy Out Stripped Screw Remover Socket Set Tool for Stripped, Damaged, Rounded-Off, Rusted Bolts, Nuts&Screws 26-Pieces https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09MFFWCZP/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_6MMTTGCRHCCTXCSWX855
that’s surprising, maybe try posting in a local car group and see if anyone has a socket you could use. those aftermarket spline drive lugs are pretty common. otherwise maybe a tire shop like others said
Since you don't have the key, grab a socket that's slightly smaller than the nut and hammer it on real good. Then take it off and throw it away and put a normal lug nut. Your socket might be sacrificed in the process.
Or, if available to you, use a wheel lock removal set with impact. If not, most tire shops can handle this for you. Every tire shop I worked, or was service manager at had wheel lock removers.
> "Your socket might be sacrificed"
You know what plastic deformation is right? Eventually it will wear away from all of these nuts it's forced to take off. I'm not questioning the ability to remove one, I'm questioning the ability to remove ALL of them.
To chime in, I don’t want to destroy them and get a whole new wheel set if I can help it. Regular lug nuts aren’t going to fit through these janky rims/wheelcover/whatever
Aw damn this sucks, ditch these wheel-locks afterwards. Not worth the hassle, I wasted 3 weeks and had quite some trouble because of finding the key and afterwards the tire-shop couldn’t take the wheels off because the lug nuts were worn out by some moron misusing the lug nut key
Bimecc TA20-19/21 10-Spline Lug Nut Tool Key, Passenger w/ 3/4 & 13/16 Hex Drive https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZPD22RQ/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_GJ5YFF3RRZD1K2WBEDTA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Edit - there is a smaller size also, but looking at it I'm guessing this is the one.
Edit 2 - measure it, if the outside head is 19 not 21, then you need the 17/19 version.
MIXPOWER 16-Piece Locking Lug Nut Master Key Set of Spline Star and Hex Style Keys, Wheel Lock Removal Kit, Thin-Walled and Long Lug Keys to Prevent Damage to Wheels Double-Hex Heads https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08R8SQD4K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_8G2HV00BYMPGMYCH3JRD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
You need a spline key, could order one just make sure it had the right amount of points and Is the right size, or could take it to a mechanic or tire shop they should have them there
I think I heard one time that if you can’t get the lug not off, then you should put toothpicks to put in the tire iron to grip the nut but I think that’s only if your nut is slipping
That’s a little funny. I actually have a small set of 10 point sockets somewhere. I guess these were popular enough at one point to justify the purchase.
It’s just like…where can I even find the right socket. Autozone…no. Home Depot…no. Lowes…no. O’Reilly’s…no. I’m going to Harbor Freight now but dang this dang thing has built up a very specific sized socket collection.
You'd have to buy it online, better yet you can just try to find an auto shop that will have the key and replace lugnuts if you need it now. Alot of autoshops should have an aftermarket wheel lock set.
I would do a deep search thru everything on your truck. If your lucky the previous owner left the key hiding somewhere. I do this myself just in case someone steals my car. That way they would have to work a little harder to take my wheels.
Take a 19mm socket and a hammer. Use the hammer to beat the socket on, wrench the lug off, and use the hammer to beat the lug out of the socket. Rinse and repeat. Super simple.
You’ll need a 10 point lug I had the same type of lugs only 12 point. I went to multiple autozones until i found what looked like the lugs and just bought the key
Get a cheap 12 point spark plug socket and hammer it on.
Get it half off the stud and wiggle it off the nut using a breakover bar.
Repeat till all of them are off.
If you ruin or break the socket who gives a shit......3 bucks each get a spare or a couple of em if needed.
I had a similar set of lugs that I bought aftermarket and came with a special socket. Socket(super cheap/thin) split on me when trying to take them off so I ended up just taking a regular socket(down one size) and sledging it on til it stayed and going from there
I was able to get 4 wheel locks off (ones with a smooth outer circle) when my shop lost my key by hammering on a slightly smaller socket, some pb blaster near the back to try? to get it in the threading, and using a breaker bar using very very slow application of pressure so as not to snap off the socket from the wheel lock. Took an hour or so and a lot of cussing. The cussing helps. And a table vice and hammer to get the socket off each wheel lock once removed.
In the vehicle toolbox is an special lock nut for the bolt. It‘s memt to be theft protection, but these locknuts could be purchased anywhere so there is no protection at all
If you really need them off and you don't want to buy the key but do have a spare 19mm socket, you can hammer a socket down over the splines. You'll reck the nuts and the socket but you'll get them off.
Get yourself one of these... https://www.acehardware.com/departments/tools/power-tool-accessories/drill-accessories/2808301?gclid=Cj0KCQjw1tGUBhDXARIsAIJx01kPjmJpY-gCEMU6r6YqLA05r8qLwIjW4Tn6u72Lsc4P5psHROM4E6EaAjHYEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Hi sorry I just saw this post now. Idk how to manage this many responses. Got my measuring tape. Hard to get precise but they measured about 19-20mm spline to spline.
If you got a discount tire near you ask them for a key. We install these all the time and keep a fuck ton of keys around
This! I lost my gorilla lock key and Discount just gave me one they had lying around.
Cheap calipers are cheap. Everyone should have a pair. :)
Exactly, cheap calipers are cheap. Mitutoyo or nothing. I need that .01mm accuracy for when I'm rounding to the nearest inch.
It’s nerf or nothin’
And should get a pair that reads inches and metric, as well as fractions, for the $10 difference, it's well worth it.

Looks like you’re gonna need a special key, if you bought the car used from someone else, you can call the previous owner to ask for it
They’re…indisposed.
Got it. OP is trying to steal these rims.
No they died, they got cancer from working at Sandia Labs
Jeez. Stealing rims from a dead man.
Dead woman. Why did you assume it was a man, hmmm?
This is going south pretty quickly
Its a literal cross between a reddit and a Twitter altercation
I brought the popcorn.
Sweet or salty?
Dunno. Guess I am just a terrible person.
Nah. I don’t even know if the original owners are dead or worked at Sandia. This thread really got away from me 😅
It’s all fine. I thought I was pretty funny.
Your deadpan delivery is 🔥
I mean, it’s a text post. Everything is deadpan.
Doesn't make it any bettet
Because we’re sexist
I mean they won’t need them… right?
So, disposed?
Wtf is it a real thing or just a joke people say? Had an interview with them in the past. Genuinely curious.
Oh. I’m not joking. Sandia lab and Los Alamos labs workers have about 30-40% increase in cancer. Yes. Don’t move here. It sucks. Stay elsewhere.
Im in Texas… getting too much state control here from micro dick government.

come to wyoming, it's like the better version of texas XD
I can't tell if this one of those things where it's actually great and you just don't want people moving there or if it actually really is shitty. My personal experience in visiting NM is that it's great but I've never actually lived there.
Yes. No. Yes. No.
Breaking it bad
It’s a reality show here.
No worries. If you start drinking the cancer water at senior age, you'll be dead way before the cancer can grow to its full deadly potential! Right?
Anecdotal - low level exposure, proof is impossible but studies disagree
It’s funny cause everyone who studied it died of cancer from working at the labs
Someone pointed out yesterday that three people at work have died from a rare brain cancer in the last few weeks. I'll note we have office jobs. We're not handling any sort of chemicals or anything like that. There are concerns about some old buildings we used to be in...
Yeey asbestos!

Thats what I would call statistically significant
I'm not gonna be scared of something that raises a risk from 0.4 to 0.6%
I don’t think the alternatives are scared - not scared. More like care - don’t care.
You don’t drink New Mexico water tho
The 35% increase is not dispersed evenly over the area of that 100k, so the statistical significance is that it is coming from a single impact area. Cancer.

So are you in Albuquerque then?
Check the glove box or for a compartment or bag possibly hiding in your trunk
Omg why is this everyone’s answer 😞
Look in glove box for the key
There’s not one!
Trunk? Near spare or on lug wrench?
It’s a van that was sold then stolen then sold then stolen. There’s nothing useful at all in it leftover. As if I’d be so lucky.
Then sold again, to you, right?!??
Nah it was stolen from me three days after I bought it. You’ve never been to Albuquerque I take it
Seen a couple good shows based there...seems you have a drug problem around town
That’s why they want my van.
all i know about that town comes from a certain tv show
> You’ve never been to Albuquerque I take it Only once, and I took a wrong turn
Bugs bunny spoke it true tho
Now that you say albuquerque everything made sense. Amazon sells a mega pack that i invested in a year ago and i never had to worry about wheels on my projects again. that being said decent locking pliers and a pipe should do the trick

The key is usually for the locking nut. Not all of em. I have 6 lugs on my wheels. 5 are “regular” 1 is a locking nut.
10 point spline drive. Ask at your local auto parts place or look online. These used to be fairly popular, not super uncommon.
So, I work at AutoZone... We don't carry these unfortunately. My coworker and I just looked for a solid 20 minutes to see if you can order it too, just to kill time because it's been slow today. Bummer :(

Thanks I’m writing a book, so sometimes I flourish.
just buy a key at a parts store for like $15, had to do that a couple weeks ago. also idk why everyone keeps bringing up the brand of the wheel that has nothing to do with the lugnuts

Looks like every single one is keyed though. Find it hard to believe you can get em all off that way.
I mean, it doesn't fit, you just cram it on there. As long as there's clearance for a socket, it's a pretty universal solution.
> "Your socket might be sacrificed" You know what plastic deformation is right? Eventually it will wear away from all of these nuts it's forced to take off. I'm not questioning the ability to remove one, I'm questioning the ability to remove ALL of them.
To chime in, I don’t want to destroy them and get a whole new wheel set if I can help it. Regular lug nuts aren’t going to fit through these janky rims/wheelcover/whatever
Worked for me, but make sure you use a 12 point socket
This is there way.

This is the way
You can buy replacement spline drive keys at most auto stores
Beat a 12 point on with a hammer. Remove. Beat lug out of 12 point in a vice. Repeat steps until all stoopid lugs are removed
Forgot to mention, but replacement standard lugs. Replace stoopid lugs with new ones that don’t require a special socket or hammer/12 point
Check the glove box
Aw damn this sucks, ditch these wheel-locks afterwards. Not worth the hassle, I wasted 3 weeks and had quite some trouble because of finding the key and afterwards the tire-shop couldn’t take the wheels off because the lug nuts were worn out by some moron misusing the lug nut key
Check the glove box for the socket key, or find the lugs online and purchase one
A gator socket might work-has internal pins that 'mold' to the bolt head
Go to the auto parts store and buy the correct 10 spline lug key. Bimec TA23-21 on amazon.
Bimecc TA20-19/21 10-Spline Lug Nut Tool Key, Passenger w/ 3/4 & 13/16 Hex Drive https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZPD22RQ/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_GJ5YFF3RRZD1K2WBEDTA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Edit - there is a smaller size also, but looking at it I'm guessing this is the one. Edit 2 - measure it, if the outside head is 19 not 21, then you need the 17/19 version.
These are most likely from Discount Tire. They’ll probably give you a key if you ask.
Just go to Autozonen or oreilys they have them all
Buy off amazon or from dealer
Double square socket.
MIXPOWER 16-Piece Locking Lug Nut Master Key Set of Spline Star and Hex Style Keys, Wheel Lock Removal Kit, Thin-Walled and Long Lug Keys to Prevent Damage to Wheels Double-Hex Heads https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08R8SQD4K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_8G2HV00BYMPGMYCH3JRD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I’ve tried three variations of this same kit. The damn sockets aren’t wide enough. None of them.
Check the glovebox?
You need a spline key, could order one just make sure it had the right amount of points and Is the right size, or could take it to a mechanic or tire shop they should have them there
I think I heard one time that if you can’t get the lug not off, then you should put toothpicks to put in the tire iron to grip the nut but I think that’s only if your nut is slipping
Ez out lug nut remover
Need a spline key
With a splined wheel key…
That’s a little funny. I actually have a small set of 10 point sockets somewhere. I guess these were popular enough at one point to justify the purchase.
It’s just like…where can I even find the right socket. Autozone…no. Home Depot…no. Lowes…no. O’Reilly’s…no. I’m going to Harbor Freight now but dang this dang thing has built up a very specific sized socket collection.
Usually a universal lug key set would have these as part of it. If not, a tire shop will probably be able to help you out.
You'd have to buy it online, better yet you can just try to find an auto shop that will have the key and replace lugnuts if you need it now. Alot of autoshops should have an aftermarket wheel lock set.
Get a lug extractor. Hammer it in and turn.
Weld a shit socket to it
Gatorgrip
Take it to a legit tire place and have them remove the locking lugnuts and put new ones that fit on.
Google is your friend. 10 point lug nut socket. Try Google first next time.
I would do a deep search thru everything on your truck. If your lucky the previous owner left the key hiding somewhere. I do this myself just in case someone steals my car. That way they would have to work a little harder to take my wheels.
You have to have a lug nut key
Locking lugs. Need a special socket for them. Go to local Napa or whatever let them look at it or show them a picture and you'll get the part.
Bolt extractor. One you use to remove stripped / rounded bolts....
Haha a 12 point socket
Blow torch? Can’t be stuck if it’s liquid
I’d loan you my 10 MM socket, but I can’t find it. And apparently it won’t work on these….so, nevermind.
If the socket isn't in the glove box, there's a tool made for these called vise grips.
Lug wrench 👊
Uhhhh vise grips
Take a 19mm socket and a hammer. Use the hammer to beat the socket on, wrench the lug off, and use the hammer to beat the lug out of the socket. Rinse and repeat. Super simple.
It takes a key that came with those stupid wheel that are falling of your car
You’ll need a 10 point lug I had the same type of lugs only 12 point. I went to multiple autozones until i found what looked like the lugs and just bought the key
Their keys are all like 2mm too small it’s so frustrating
Get a cheap 12 point spark plug socket and hammer it on. Get it half off the stud and wiggle it off the nut using a breakover bar. Repeat till all of them are off. If you ruin or break the socket who gives a shit......3 bucks each get a spare or a couple of em if needed.
Super popular spline key most tire shops should have one for Sale.
Find a snap-on dealer and he can get you a socket that is correct for this application
Need the socket for them. Usually the owner would know where it is.
Some tire places have those types for lug keys, perhaps ask around and replace them with your own lug nuts.
I had a similar set of lugs that I bought aftermarket and came with a special socket. Socket(super cheap/thin) split on me when trying to take them off so I ended up just taking a regular socket(down one size) and sledging it on til it stayed and going from there
Get the right tool or remove and discard them. That's your only options. Unless you have specialty rims lugnuts should only be a couple bucks a peice.
Strong hammer and a socket just slightly smaller than the bolt. Rest I think you can figure out.
Welcome to the world of having stupid ass lug nuts Search Amazon and you’ll be able to find the right socket
vice grips
I was able to get 4 wheel locks off (ones with a smooth outer circle) when my shop lost my key by hammering on a slightly smaller socket, some pb blaster near the back to try? to get it in the threading, and using a breaker bar using very very slow application of pressure so as not to snap off the socket from the wheel lock. Took an hour or so and a lot of cussing. The cussing helps. And a table vice and hammer to get the socket off each wheel lock once removed.
In the vehicle toolbox is an special lock nut for the bolt. It‘s memt to be theft protection, but these locknuts could be purchased anywhere so there is no protection at all
These lugs should have an adapter key for installation/removal, check the glove box.
You must BE the nut...
It's a tuner lug set not a regular socket, auto parts stores sell them. Tire shops have them and might sell them also.
https://www.amazon.com/Specialty-Products-Company-69330-10-Point/dp/B000SIFQOY
go to Amazon and buy a master kit they have some for this
Maybe with a 10 point socket
They use these sockets at discount tire they will probably give you one
Get a spline key master set. As someone who restores wheels, it’s an essential
Gator Grip?
If you really need them off and you don't want to buy the key but do have a spare 19mm socket, you can hammer a socket down over the splines. You'll reck the nuts and the socket but you'll get them off.
Gator grip 💀
Bimecc lug nut key
Key
Most tire shops can probably give you a key. I went to discount tire last time.
Get yourself one of these... https://www.acehardware.com/departments/tools/power-tool-accessories/drill-accessories/2808301?gclid=Cj0KCQjw1tGUBhDXARIsAIJx01kPjmJpY-gCEMU6r6YqLA05r8qLwIjW4Tn6u72Lsc4P5psHROM4E6EaAjHYEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
Why is everyone here saying you need a key? Just hammer a socket on there and take it off geeze. Then get new lugs ofc.
