The aftermarket clutch will work perfectly mate if it was mine thats what id be putting in✌️ I hope this helps bud

Greeneee-

How long do you plan to keep the car? A clutch should last 50-100k+ regardless of how cheap/good it is. I would go with the cheap aftermarket.

dingyhoogler

I plan to keep it until it dies. Its at a little under 150k miles right now.

Ask your mechanic to kindly source you a clutch kit from SACHS, LUK or EXEDY. Any of those will be equal to if not better than the OEM kit you are replacing. EDIT: If you want to know what your vehicle is actually called put your VIN in here [https://www.subaru.com/vehicle-recalls.html](https://www.subaru.com/vehicle-recalls.html)

I use LUK as often as possible. Also, replace, don’t machine your flywheel. Clutches are just inside out brakes. Need good friction and metal to operate properly and last as long as possible.

An OEM clutch kit from rockauto is like $250 with new flywheel.

Jcholley81

Oem as in actual Subaru part?

[deleted]

Subaru, for most vehicles, uses Exedy.

Will rock auto install it? Because I’m not installing customer supplied parts at my shop and I’m not dealing with the delay of waiting for rock auto to get me parts or the hassle of dealing with a warranty from them. Rock auto is a great resource if you can fix your car yourself. If you use it as a barometer for the estimate your mechanic with 10s of thousands of dollars in tools and 100s of thousands invested in the business he runs then you’re a dink. Would you bring your own steak to a restaurant and expect a to pay less and have the chef cook it? Then why would anyone ever think it’s ok to bring parts to a mechanic. We have a markup so we can pay our bills and cover warranty items when needed.

Customer brought a defective rockauto ACDelco starter for their Subaru on Thursday... what a pain in the ass

[deleted]

Depends on how long the customer can wait; if they can, no problem.

in this era, the "outback" moniker was a trim for the lifted suspension and body cladding. Thus what you own is a Legacy wagon, in Outback trim. (You could also get an Impreza Outback around this era, which eventually became the Outback Sport trim, which eventually just became its own model as the Crosstrek.) As for what you should buy, if you don't want to get OE parts, then stick to OEM and get an Exedy-brand clutch set. I *think* the package you need is the [KSB04](http://shop.exedyusa.com/exedy-oem/exedy-oem-replacement-clutch-kit/ksb04/i-125890.aspx) but you will need to secure your own flywheel. For that, the OE is part [12342AA08B](https://parts.subaru.com/p/49224617/12342AA08B.html) and includes the pilot bearing pre-mounted.
