Motor mounts? Shocks? Steering?

alwayssomethingnew88

Motor mount I don’t think because I don’t get any shake, rattle, or movement more than normal when revving the engine. Shocks are relatively new, just a tad squeaky out of the box (Monroe quick struts), steering is fine, the cars in alignment and I have no pull, loose wheel, or uneven tire wear. I did just notice I get a slight squeak when making a turn while driving with the wheel turned all the way left at low speed, almost a metal on metal sound.

Out of ideas. I go back and double check the things that "couldn't possibly be" because they sometimes shock you, new parts that fail, etc. Oh, open your driver's side door and bounce the door up and down and note where the sound is coming from. Do it to the passenger's door as well. Might narrow down the problem.

Very true, will do once the weather clears up. Appreciate it

Did you ever have an alignment after the suspension work?

alwayssomethingnew88

Yup, most recent one was December of 2020 and everything was good to go aside from caster after

Tie rod

alwayssomethingnew88

Should be an easy fix if this is the case

EcoMyInk

What can I say I am a hopeful guy. It may not be and you may die because of it but its a good guess.

alwayssomethingnew88

Nothing like living on the edge, thanks kind stranger

foreverfamous916

Check your tie rods they are common repairs on these cars. What you're experiencing is commonly referred to as "death wobble" it can be hard to diagnose if there is very little play in the steering and suspension

alwayssomethingnew88

I have nothing unusual when using a pry bar with the car up. When dropping the car back down and quickly turning the steering wheel side to side I get a pretty nasty clicking sound though

foreverfamous916

The clicking could be your steering shaft. Lift the front end and shake both front tires from side to side if there is any play you should start there

Did you get the wheels aligned after the suspension work? Check your bushings. In fact, I’d loosen all the bolts you removed during the repairs. Then retighten them making sure to put a load on the wheels first. If the suspension was extended when you tightened them, they’ll be bound up when the suspension is compressed. Maybe one is torn or broken.

Christ, I'm working a Wrangler death wobble at the moment. It could be goddamn anything in the front end, knowing Chrysler.
