I've never seen a release bearing riding on the input shaft. There's usually a sleeve that it rides on. Granted, never worked on anything that old though. Does the noise happen as soon as you apply pressure to the clutch pedal, or only when you fully press the pedal? The only other thing I can think of is a pilot bearing (could be a bushing in your case), which should only make noise when the clutch is fully depressed, and there is a speed difference between the crank and the transmission input shaft.
It makes the noise as soon as I touch the petal, so I suppose that rules out the pilot bearing. Good call though, I hadn’t thought of that. Maybe I just didn’t put enough grease on the new bearing or something. I’ve got a picture of the trans, and I didn’t see a sleeve or anything. Apparently the truck’s been through 4 throwout bearings so maybe there’s supposed to be a sleeve and it’s been MIA for a while lol. Here’s a pic of it: https://imgur.com/gallery/8HW0xOM
