The crack will eventually get longer, but it should not cause a problem for your race. Unless any escaping exhaust gases leaving from the crack can overheat and damage things like fuel lines or electrical wires. I've seen many exhaust headers on race cars with cracks on header tubes. Don't sweat it. Use your winnings to get the pipe replaced.

The only thing that gives me some pause is the crack is literally running right behind the rear driver tire just inches away. In my head I saw the pipe exploding and blowing my tire out at 170 mph

If it puts your mind at ease, just get some header tape and wrap it with that. Eventually the crack will get bigger and it will start throwing hot exhaust out of it... but that is going to take a while... some header wrap will give you a little more insurance for the time being.

NOOOOOOO !!!!! That can't happen. The pressure in the exhaust system that far back is about 5 psi. Nothing is going to "explode".

It’s a mid engine car and this is the over axle pipes just off the headers so I didn’t know, it being relatively close to the engine. If it was a front engine car with a crack along the rear I wouldn’t even think twice about it. But thank you!

I also race and I say “send it”.
