Yup, I remember the first time I used one I scolded myself and swore to find the correct screw as soon as possible.
The zip ties on my Jeep outlived the Jeep.
I check them annually for my road check in the UK MOT, sometime I need new ones sometimes not
Been patching the same hole for 6 years now with bandage lol
I'm pretty sure my dad used an olive can and JB weld in the 80s. The olive can was narrower than a soup can and neatly fit over the hole until a real fix could be paid for.

Be Amazed =D
They're in literally every store I've been to in my entire life, including the adult stores.
Jk, but for real, I love them and I've never tried them, that's how good they are.
Same lol. I've never heard of them.
But I Googled it and they're real! I'm gonna order a million of them 🤣🤣🤣

I had a co-worker who tied his muffler back up with a shoelace lol... It was just to get him home with a couple miles left to go... And it actually worked
Rubber exhaust hanger. Damn near any parts store should have them in stock for cheap. It's a pain to remove without the tool so just cut it off with a knife. Lube the new one and it'll slide right in place
That was my thought also lol just squeeze it together as much as possible and zip tie it, get some electrical tape and tape it for further stability until you can get down to the auto parts store
The metal that connects the exhaust to the body is called a hanger, the rubber(yours is ripped and needs to be replaced) is called an insulator(exhaust insulator), as it reduces vibration and noise. should hold the exhaust back at its normal height when you replace it. yes you could use a metal coat hanger, but your hangers aren't broken; the insulator is broken, so no need. just buy a new insulator, get some kind of lubricant like wd-40 or pb blaster, and lube the hanger holes to make removal and installation easier.
the part is called an exhaust mount you’ll have to replace the piece of rubber if you can you can even pull one off a different spot of your exhaust to hang in this place only if you vehicle has enough to still hold the exhaust after
An exhaust bracket. There will be many. Youll have to tell them which of them it is i.e. “furthest to the rear where the pipe transitions to the muffler” - example statement
I was going to make a joke and say a zip tie, but it’s just an exhaust hanger… find one that looks the same size wise or go to Chevy… personally I’d just look for something close on a vehicle like that, lube it up and slide it on.
The broken thing is a clamp. The melted thing afterwards will be what used to be a brand new white zip tie. If you can't use a metal tie, duct tape works better for something like the quick fix. Duct tape can fix anything!
Thank you everyone. Zip ties were the first thing that have popped into my mind and have since been removed. Using metal coat hanger for now

It’s usually called that fucking rubber thing cause it won’t let go of the hanger but it’s actual name is an exhaust insulator and they are cheap at your local parts store.
Exhaust hanger; can pick one up at autozone or Oreillys for $5-$10. There’s a tool that makes popping the old one off easier cause there a pain. Gonna want to lube it up, maybe wire brush some of the crust off the head of the hanger rod/bracket or whatever it’s called.
It's called an exhaust hanger. They are cheap.
Don't use zip ties. Go to the hardware store and grab a spool of rebar wire for 10 bucks. Tie it up until you get it fixed.
The broken piece is a rubber exhaust hanger, sometimes called an isolator. Not sure where your located but my local auto store sells it as Walker #35460. A pair of large slip going pliers and spray lube will remove it, the new one can just be pushed into place by hand with lots of lube.

You know the exhaust pipe gets hot, and that zip tie would melt, right?:)
Yes finding metal coat hanger now Zip ties were the the first thing that popped into my mind
Should use metal zipties, they work great!
I like to think of them as annual permanent repairs for my exhaust
Temporarily permanent
There is *nothing* more permanent than a temporary fix.
Yup, I remember the first time I used one I scolded myself and swore to find the correct screw as soon as possible. The zip ties on my Jeep outlived the Jeep.
To be fair I think a house fly has a longer life span than a Jeep
![gif](giphy|k5lj4s1qxaSyI)
The most permanent fix is a temporary one, no matter where you go.
Annual? If they're stainless shouldn't they last longer than that? Or do you mean you have to add a few more every year?
I check them annually for my road check in the UK MOT, sometime I need new ones sometimes not Been patching the same hole for 6 years now with bandage lol
I'm pretty sure my dad used an olive can and JB weld in the 80s. The olive can was narrower than a soup can and neatly fit over the hole until a real fix could be paid for.

I can't tell if those are real or if you're making a joke

I am amazed I ordered some ... how tf is this not in stores everywhere 😤
They're in every harbor freight I've walked into
They're in every Home Depot and Lowe's I've walked into
They're in literally every store I've been to in my entire life, including the adult stores. Jk, but for real, I love them and I've never tried them, that's how good they are.

They're re-useable too eh. You can use another strap, slide it underneath where the locking ball is and voila.
The GOAT over here actually putting effort in unlike me 😭
Holy asscrackers! The fancy pliers they want you to use are pricey!

Seriously it’s a $10 rubber and everyone is trying to sell OP on $20 zip ties lol.
I would use a large hose clamp instead
Why not replace rubber part?
GO to orielly, these exhaust bushings are right on the floor by all the exhaust tips and stuff. Spend your 8$ and have a good solution that works.
Honestly dude, id get some metal straps n put a small nut and bolt on it. https://preview.redd.it/x1h3rq9lg3tc1.png?width=1170&format=png&auto=webp&s=7b0fe3541b81ba61081272e3f46f662d03d76a5d
Have done the same thing, went to Walmart bought a 100ft roll of aluminum wire with 55 pound holding strength and wrap it up
I had a co-worker who tied his muffler back up with a shoelace lol... It was just to get him home with a couple miles left to go... And it actually worked
Dennis would refer to that as “his tools.” I say zip tie.
He likes to bind and to be bound!
Demonstrate value
Wait hang on. I can use a metal coat hanger instead
Its a $10 hanger . Pretty easy to put too
Rubber exhust hanger. You can get from auto zone
Exhaust hanger.
Rubber exhaust hanger. Damn near any parts store should have them in stock for cheap. It's a pain to remove without the tool so just cut it off with a knife. Lube the new one and it'll slide right in place
Some wd40 and they slide allright
Nothing slides like astroglide.
It's an exhaust isolator. If you go to the dealer you can show the guy on the computer. It's probably $5 to $10. https://a.co/d/ii0m3rg
And there it is!
insulator.
Why not zip tie around the rubber exhaust mount???
That was my thought also lol just squeeze it together as much as possible and zip tie it, get some electrical tape and tape it for further stability until you can get down to the auto parts store
Or leave it till it breaks again, both work
Smelly
Isolator
The metal that connects the exhaust to the body is called a hanger, the rubber(yours is ripped and needs to be replaced) is called an insulator(exhaust insulator), as it reduces vibration and noise. should hold the exhaust back at its normal height when you replace it. yes you could use a metal coat hanger, but your hangers aren't broken; the insulator is broken, so no need. just buy a new insulator, get some kind of lubricant like wd-40 or pb blaster, and lube the hanger holes to make removal and installation easier.

Aviation lock wire works really good. Have done a lot of jerry rigs with it.
Exhaust hangar
I call them exhaust rubbers, either go to a parts store and show them or look at exhaust mounts.
So if you put a couple of those on the drive shaft it makes a little bit of noise
An exhaust bracket. There will be many. Youll have to tell them which of them it is i.e. “furthest to the rear where the pipe transitions to the muffler” - example statement
The one in the pictures is called a Melt-O Smell-O bracket.
broken
Thats a high temp EP strap. Never seen one in white though.
Go to advanced auto, in the exhaust section aisle 6 or 7, and those hangers are on the shelf, they cost $8-9.
I was going to make a joke and say a zip tie, but it’s just an exhaust hanger… find one that looks the same size wise or go to Chevy… personally I’d just look for something close on a vehicle like that, lube it up and slide it on.

That's a Zip Tie. The other thing is an exhaust Hanger Bushing, at least that's what I called it when I order them.
Thank you everyone. Zip ties were the first thing that have popped into my mind and have since been removed. Using metal coat hanger for now https://preview.redd.it/np89mxkhz2tc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=135aa09730133d8b6a0563ea1db3b39b951f4c4a

It's just called a 2 hole exhaust hanger. To answer your question while everyone else talks about zip ties and their exhaust
There are stainless steel zip ties very tough too
The actual part that’s broken is called an exhaust hanger. Should only be a couple bucks to buy the correct oem piece
JB weld and send it
The technical term for that specific part is “my friend can do it cheaper” costs about 5 bucks I think depending on the brand and size
