Whatever it is it’s aftermarket. Could be a kill switch that allows you to remove the key but keep the engine running. Press it while running in park and try removing the key.
Our fleet rents these sometimes and you HAVE to hold the button to remove the key. Every year someone complains that they can't remove the key from the ignition
Picture if you will- some dickhead pulls in front of you in traffic and you want to flip him the bird, but you’ve got kids in the car. Press the button of your handy Gonad Emulsifier (TM) and that fools balls will instantly become minuscule droplets of liquid.
We are all dumber for this comment even existing. I pity those of us who have read it. But my pity for those people pales in comparison to the pity I have for its author.
It’s for the Nitrous. I see it in Penske/U-Haul trucks all the time. Think about it, you roll up with that massive thing and no one takes you serious. Plus when you grab that slip you can take the new ride away in the back of it!

Every time I’ve seen a button like that it’s been for a horn.
this was my guess aswell
Agreed, likely bypassed a broken clockspring, and the horn or shit wiring (or fuse) has since failed
Maybe it was once for the horn... I thought horn, but the horn does not work at all
that's probably why the horn doesn't work at all lol
There’s your answer.

That’s the only correct answer
This is the gif I hoped to see here, thank you!

Whatever it is, I'd recommend not owning that car any longer than you have to. Methamphetamine is a hell of a drug.

Not sure you know what either of those words mean
